Never again
By gbear, 3/6/11
Watch out for the bed bugs. It is dirty, musty smelling. I can deal with that for the short time I would be there but not with bed bugs. I found another hotel and I got my money refunded. I will never go back.

Unresponsive in the extreme!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/1/10
I had a problem with the Howard Johnson - Detroit Metro Airport and the shuttle service they use for their "Lodge, Park & Fly" package. I was ripped off by the shuttle company (Hotel Connections, Inc.) and the motel was unresponsibe to my complaints, both by phone and certified mail. So I complained to the parent company, Howard Johnson International, Inc. A Ms. Tara Efraimson in Customer Care merely referrd me back to the local motel, because "Each Howard Johnson facility is independently owned and operated by licensees." So traveller beware: HoJo's doesn't stand behind their product despite the fancy sign out front. Their brand name apparently means nothing to them. Old H.J. would be ashamed of what has become of his good name. And as for any Detroit Metro Airport motel that uses the Hotel Connections shuttle service: my advice is to stay somewhere else or use a cab instead.

We wont be back -- Dont park there !!
By Lisa S, 4/24/09
The room was ok for what we paid. Its definately not great but we new it was pretty much a bed to sleep in before our a.m. trip. Our problem is they claim to have a secured lot with there park and fly deal. Our car was keyed and center caps taken off, while in their "secured lot". The Manager also told me that they couldnt do anything for me? I went to pick my brother up from the airport that same week so i took a cruise thru the lot again just to see how secure the lot was and i drove right in the lot sat for a few minutes and never once was questioned or seen the gate ever close. We will not be back nor would we tell anyone to go there ever again.

nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/8/08
I have the read the other reviews but choose to stay at this hotel anyway. This hotel was very clean, the staff was nice and the ride to the airport was quick. Howard Johnson also offered the best park and fly rate and we were able to leave our car on there lot.

Flea Bag Motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/08
Spirit Air sends folks here when they've overbooked! When I was younger I had to sleep in a old station wagon, in a junk yard, while my beat-up old truck got repaired. Trust me, that old station wagon was cleaner, and more cozy than this nasty, NASTY, motel. The floor in the airport is a better choice!!!

Gives Bad a whole new meaning
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/2/08
We had previously stayed here, when it was a COMFORT INN and the place was a reasonable value( and clean) - NOT NOW! We had reserved a room for 4 and when we checked in they gave us a handicapped room for 2 with one double bed! There was no door on the bathroom! They told us that is all they could do. It was dirty, old furniture and cold. We were catching an early morning flight and were glad to only be there a short time! Needless to say we will never return! Desk clerks were rude and could not even give us any extra pillows -(there were only 2 on the bed) or blankets! Do yourself a favour - sleep in the car or go directly to the airport! This place is now a dump!

Avoid it like the plague
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/07
In short, this is a dump, poorly maintained, poorly managed. I had an airline voucher due to a canceled flight. When I called to be picked up I was told the hotel was full and the voucher was useless. Certain that a major US airline would not have led us astray, a group of us showed up at the door - plenty of rooms available, the clerk just lied to us because he preferred to have cash paying customers rather than airline rack rate. Unscrupulous, I think is the term.

Cockroach Heaven
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/07
The Thunderbird hooker hotel in downtown Detorit is probably better kept than this dive. Dirt everywhere and cockroaches come out in the dark. Lighting keptlow to hide the dirt until the sun comes up.

Worst night ever
By Jodee, 4/11/07
The room had no heat and we got no help from the staff. Here it is, almost a week later, and I finally got through to a manager (who must have been ignoring my messages all this week) and she agreed to refund me $17. We would have been better off sleeping in the car. Every person we met who works there was rude.
