Perfect Hotel on A Perfect Island
By GoldenGoodness, 10/14/09
The service was superb! I don't believe there is anything their Hotel Staff would not do for you! They are kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and eager to please! Our room was spotless. We will be back. I love this hotel and their service!

The best vacation ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/09
The Four Seasons Wailea is a destination that caters to both couples and families. We visited the resort from July 31 through August 5 and it was truly a remarkable experience. The poolside cabanas and service were outstanding and housekeeping services were impeccable. My three kids enjoyed the kiddie pool and the close proximity to the beach made the trek easy for the family. We had poolside lunch/cocktail service and breakfast and dinner at DUO and lunch at Ferraros---the food was pricey and as expected, it did not disappoint. Food is expensive in Hawaii already, so the pricing is comparable to other hotels and neighboring steak/seafood restaurants. I also splurged on the spa treatment for a foot and scalp massage and was so impressed that I splurged on another massage poolside. I would recommend that you visit this hotel once in your lifetime to feel what it's like to be pampered from head to toe.

Let Down
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/08
We usually love the Four Seasons, but not this time. We arrived Dec. 4, 2007 & following the storm that hit Maul the power was out Dec. 5 & 6 at the hotel. Check-in was slow although we were upgraded from Garden View to Ocean View (far off in the distance from one side of the balcony.) We realize the hotel cannot control Mother Nature & we did sympathize with them, however, there was little done for the hotel guests in way of compensation or to help alleviate the situation. On the 5th the hotel passed out playing cards (usually given to children at check-in we were told) since none of the amenities could be used. Also lots of bottle water passed out. While playing cards in the Lobby Lounge we ordered Bloody Marys...no Bloody Mary mix at this bar at that particular time. The hotel staff recommended staying put due to power outage, flooded roads & traffic jams which left us with only Duo restaurant serving food which was a cold sandwich buffet, green salad & ice cream to the tune of $25 per person, no drink included. We complained that the price seemed excessive since it was the only option available & they removed the charge. Our biggest complaint or concern revolved around the Lobby Lounge. On Dec. 5 while the power was out we ordered a Corona & a glass of red wine. No menus were passed out & bills were hand written. The bill was $8 for the beer & $15 for the wine. We thought the prices were a bit high but that is what one expects at the Four Seasons. However, I looked at the room service menu, the poolside menu & later, the Lobby Lounge menu & in fact, the beer should have been $6.50 & the Red Diamond wine $11 (can buy a bottle at my local grocery for $7.00) We questioned the waiter who of course was not the waiter we previously had as to the discrepancy. He couldn't explain it & offered to correct our bill. At check-out we discovered that the drink charge had not been corrected, but we had actually been charged a second time at the incorrect amount. So now a $17.50 charge had become $52.00 (w/tip). Of course, when explained to the woman checking us out she promptly removed both charges. It made us wonder " was the Four Seasons or the waiter taking advantage of the guests while the power was out or was it an honest mistake' ? We'll never know. In a letter from the manager he acknoweldged the removal of the charges as doing us a favor, when in fact it was totally a hotel or wait staff errror. He also offered a complimentary 1 night stay in a Garden View room if available on a future stay. Nice gesture but highly unlikely to ever be used . On their behalf, the hotel is beautiful, the game room is nice, internet availiablity is a nice amenity, as well as the business center, leis on arrival, & the conceriege had great restuarant recommendtions. We were offered a bite of fruit & ice water at the pool when the weather finally improved although the lounge chairs were wet from all the rain. Room service came very late in the day a couple times which was a bit irritating, but nothing horrible. We had to call room service 3 times just to get a knife & the bed wasn't as comfortable as we would have expected. Minor issues, but it all added up. In the past couple months we have had reason to stay at a Hampton Inn & Hilton Garden in smaller towns with only those chain hotels available & in both instances overall service & value was much better. For the price of the Four Seasons we would have expected them to rise above the situation and at least have offered a free drink or possibly a few bucks off the price of the room....at least it would have felt like they had a bit of compassion for those that endured the 2 day power outage. It appears the only compensation anyone received that we knew of is if a complaint was lodged. It looked like a 5 star resort but they sure fooled us.

Not up to the hype
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/07/08
The rooms are modern with huge bathrooms. Hotel is clean. The pool was a dissapointment. No evian spritzers or frozen fruit for the five days we were there. Good luck finding a chair. Free cabanas? All you have to do is go down at 5am to get one. Food service was at best. Had a lousy dinner at Spago and ate elsewhere the other nights. View from the rooms is dissapointing. Do not expect water view even with a prime ocean view room unless you count standing at one end of your balcony and hanging over the e to see it. We had a prime view of the road into the hotel. We overheard staff complaing about new management. Hostess at DUO has to be the rudest person I've ever met.

Not so great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/02/08
We were at the resort during the storms in early December. Management did nothing for the guests. Inadequate power, Elevators not working, pool not working. Even after the power was back on there was limited services for days after. Managers did not handle the situation well for a simple power outage. Weeks later I received a letter from the hotel that basicly said too bad, we're not responsible, better luck next time. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a hotel. If the power goes out when your here RUN don't walk away because they will not offer the services they promise but they will bill you full price. We ate at DUO and the food was terrible. Room was comfortable but none of the rooms had a very good water view. We were stuck in the back with a poor view in a higher category room and they would not move us even though there were rooms available much closer to the water that were not occupied for the whole week. They should have called it hotel view not water view because the side we were on was facing directly at another bank of rooms about 50' away. No privacy at all. All of the area restaurants were far better. The most annoying thing was management kept playing it up like it was the storm of the century asking no one to leave. We went out and other areas had power. Concierges were even complaining about the poor quality food they were given to put out.

Awesome honeymoon destination!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/07
We just got back from our honeymoon in Oahu/Maui. We stayed in three different hotels (Hilton in Oahu, Hyatt and Four Seasons in Maui). Four Seasons by far is the best for everything from service to room quality. It's definitely a 5 star hotel. Service is way beyond our expectations. There is no need to get expensive room, because you'll get same type of quality even in mountain view room. They really treated us well with warm hospitalities. My wife remember the most from this honeymoon trip is how wonderful experience we had at Four Seasons. I highly recommend this hotel for celebrating anniversary and honeymoon. Avoid Hyatt in Lahaina.....

Heaven on Earth!!
By Nathan R, 03/01/07
My wife and I stayed at the Four Seasons for our honeymoon in July, 2006. We were not disappointed. The resort and the grounds were amazing and the service was beyond exceptional. We especially enjoyed the beautiful Wailea beach that the resort is nestled on. We stayed on the club floor level and really appreciated the attentive service and ammenities that were provided to us during our stay. The club lounge provided any type of drink (Alcoholic or Non) that we requested at any time of the day. They also provided finger foods three times per day for breakfast, lunch, and evening desserts. They usually had pastries and croissants for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. The food was always tasty and the presentation of the food was exceptional. My wife and I really enjoyed stopping in late in the evening and grabbing a drink and desert after a fulfilling dinner at one of the many exquisite restaruants on the island. Although the club floor was not necessarily a great value, the convience of the service was a great benefit for a couple looking for a worry-free, relaxing honeymoon. If we were to return for a regular vacation, I'm not sure that we would spend the extra money for this service. But it is a nice benefit to know that you are guaranteed a room on the top floor of the hotel by booking the club floor. As far as the restaurants in the hotel, we only visited Ferraro's for a beach side, sunset dinner that was fabulous, and we also had lunch here as well one day while spending time at the beach. The dinner was romantic and very tasty; well worth the price. However, the lunch was way overpriced and not near the quality that we experienced for dinner. We would recommend going elsewhere for lunch, away from the resort. All-in-all we were extremely pleased with the Four Seasons and look forward to returning for possibly our five year anniversary. We have many wonderful memories of this resort and the beautiful island of Maui!!

Heaven on earth!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/24/07
This was our first stay at a Four Seasons, and WOW! We have stayed at some Ritz hotels, but this was truly memorable. Being on the Conceirge level was an added bonus, with impeccable personal attention. This place must be seen to be believed, as words simply cannot describe the experience. Great location, views, ambience, food, spa, service. Yes, the canoe program is the best.

Aloha with style
By Gene Chuang, 11/20/06
Four Seasons Wailea is our favorite resort in all of Maui, if not Hawaii. My family has stayed at Princeville Kauai, Grand Wailea and Westin Maui. But we will always come back to the Four Seasons. Service is impeccable and unpretentious. Get the cheapest rooms available (Mountain View), you will get to experience all the same amenities and luxury as the more expensive rooms. Unlike its neighbor, Grand Wailea, the room rate at Four Seasons is pretty much all inclusive: poolside cabana, boogie board rental, valet parking, room refrigerator, heck even kids daycare are all free! And even on our Mai trips where we don't stay at the Four Seasons, we go out of our way to swing down, relax at the Lounge, and sip on the best Lava Flow made on the island. Once you go Four Seasons Wailea, you'll never look back!

Overrated but will come again
By naniling, 08/18/06
I booked this hotel after reading a lot of good reviews but I don't feel this place is WOW. Both my husband and I agree that the service is not that excellent. We still like Ritz better. The pool area was pretty small and crowded, but they offer you a free cabana to enjoy the sun. The free canoe program is really worthed and you should check it. Con: They share the beach with Fairmont and Grand Wailea so it's kind a crowded and touristy.
