Mercure Townsville, Townsville

This place was a stop over on our way to Cairns and with all the hype the Mecure sounded like a really nice place. Firstly, the room (Motel room) we stayed in had two (2) double size beds that took up the whole room. To state that the room could double as a shoebox would be an understatement. It was clean and tidy, but it was one of those places you could only stay one night. The decore was dated however it was the room size that made the Mecure Inn a place I did NOT want to return too. The room felt Claustrophobic and had limited air flow. Our room faced the carpark and was more suited to a sales rep wanting an early getaway rather than a family undertaking an overnight/extended stay. We stayed out of the room as much as possible in order to reduce our time spent in the Mecure. My wife booked this place on-line and looking at the pictures it certainly was a let down. Needless to say, the facilities such as the pool (not heated) and dining area were excellent. I would NOT recommend the Mecure Inn Motel Room to any family wanting any extended stay in Townsville. Spend the little extra and get a proper room. I have stayed in Motel rooms before and this one does not make the grade.
