Location too far from the subway station
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/10
Good, quiet and comfortable hotel but the location is inconvenient. Need to take the free shuttle to get to/from the subway station; otherwise, it's a 25 minute walk. Van broke down during the Christmas weekend. They had to pay for taxis for us. OK place to stay if you're patient..

Definately a place to stay for a night or two
By Janice R, 12/02/08
This hotel is great for a quick weekend into the city. Full breakfast is great. Shutle service is sometimes slow but its free so who can complain. Unfortunately for the first time last weekend our heater broke and the room was cold. Usually we are happy with the accomodations. Especially just for a place to sleep after a long day in the city. Can't beat the price or the 24 hour shuttle service. We will continue to stay there.

Hotel Good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/08
Stayed here for two weeeks. No complaints about room - got what we asked for. Breakfast was great if you didnt mind plastic cups, bowls, plates etc-plastic didnt bother us but thought it very wasteful dumping everything.Shuttle service not great-anytime we rang for it after coming back at night we were told ok but after waiting 15-20mins in cold we ended up having to get cab. Drivers very unfriendly-would be better off without it and then people would know where they stood! Reception staff not great- would badly need training in friendliness and customer services. Apart from that very good value for money but room for a lot for improvement in h.r. The staff cleaning the rooms were excellent and very friendly.

BY FAR THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER
By matt, 10/07/08
I WOULD NOT SUGGEST THAT ANYONE WASTE THEIR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS HOTEL. SERVICE SUCKS, YOU WILL NOT GET THE ROOM YOU BOOK, SIX OF US STAYED THEIR WITH 3 ROOMS AND WE HAD TO CHANGE ROOMS 7 TIMES BECAUSE THEY COULDNT GET ANYTHING RIGHT. SO IF YOU WANT WHAT YOU BOOK AND PAY, FOR LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT HOTEL. IF YOU DONT CARE WHAT YOU GET THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.

A very nice motel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/08
Our family stayed there for one week, we liked the place. The employees were very helpful and knowledgeable about New York. It is 10 minutes by Metro Subway to Manhattan Island and the hotel has a van to and from the train station. Very comfortable and quiet. Will return.

We had a great time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/08
We booked a room for 4 nights. Room is nice and they keep it clean. We got a view to the cementery! but since my wife and I crashed so tired each night we didn't even remember that. Great breakfast with eggs, bacon, juice, donuts and more. Very friendly personal. We had shuttle at any time from the train station (about 5 minutes in car or 15 min walk) no questions asked, as well as our shuttle from and to the airport. We got on the train and get to Broadway in 13 min. Great! Couldn't get any better price any where else if your traveling with a budget just like us.

Guarantee room w/ credit card = Card# theft?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/08
A couple of days after making my room reservation (1 night) over the phone with "Ali" at the Best Western City View, my credit card started receiving charges for airline tickets from LaGuardia to Atlanta followed by other fraudulent charges. I can't prove he was the thief, but I highly suspect he was. Besides, this was my first trip to NYC, and I have only been using my card in St. Louis. But it was too late to find another room, so I stayed there anyway. The room was advertised as non-smoking, but there was an obvious and strong cigarette smoke smell. The room and the hotel in general was pretty run down. In the morning, when I had the front desk ring me up a taxi, the man at the front desk called up a freelance taxi service with no meter -- you know, the kind where you have to bargain with the driver for the fare. I will never stay there again. Buyer beware. - Jim M. (St. Louis, MO).

Upon arrival to the Best Western City View, we were greeted in a somewhat friendly manner and were given a room with two beds. The room was decent and clean. The next morning, as we were quietly eating our breakfast, we were interrupeted by the desk clerk instructing us that we had to move to another room. The reason being, they say, is that a single bed was reserved originally. We were originally on the ground floor near the front desk, and we were moved to the top floor in a much, much smaller room. On top of that, it was not cleaned and prepped from the night before. When we called the front desk about it, the clerk rudely replied with "Well I told you it wasn't made yet". We put our belongings in the room and then tried to rush to the subway, because at this point with the move, the hotel made us late for the show we were going to see at Radio City Music Hall. We patiently waited for the shuttle. It pulled up with people inside and they did not get out. Three round trips we waited, and it was always full. We decided to walk and got directions. The directions were wrong and we got delayed again. Upon our return to the hotel via subway, we called the hotel to arrange for the hotel shuttle to pick us up. The front desk said the shuttle van would be there in five minutes. The shuttle van showed up 15 minutes later. It was a Ford Windstar that had seen better days. As I got in the front seat of the van, the seatbelt wouldn't click into place, the windshield was cracked more than once, the check engine and electrical system lights were on, and the registration sticker on the windshield was expired. The van driver drove like a lunatic as well, to place the icing on the death ride van cake. We left the following morning and we will not be returning again after this experience. Poor customer service all around.
