Guarantee room w/ credit card = Card# theft?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/08
A couple of days after making my room reservation (1 night) over the phone with "Ali" at the Best Western City View, my credit card started receiving charges for airline tickets from LaGuardia to Atlanta followed by other fraudulent charges. I can't prove he was the thief, but I highly suspect he was. Besides, this was my first trip to NYC, and I have only been using my card in St. Louis. But it was too late to find another room, so I stayed there anyway.
The room was advertised as non-smoking, but there was an obvious and strong cigarette smoke smell. The room and the hotel in general was pretty run down.
In the morning, when I had the front desk ring me up a taxi, the man at the front desk called up a freelance taxi service with no meter -- you know, the kind where you have to bargain with the driver for the fare.
I will never stay there again. Buyer beware.
