Best Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/09
I was hesitant to go to such an expensive hotel, especially after reading some of the bad reviews, but I am so glad I did. The staff was so warming and welcoming and the rooms are beautiful! You don't feel like you are staying in a hotel. I can not wait to go back, it was totally worth the money!!!

BAD BAD SERVICE!!!
By Laura, 04/02/09
My husband and I rec'd a gift cert for our b-days and decided on a weekend to use it. The evening started out o.k. until I used the bathroom. The bathroom wall was filled with puke!! I called the front desk and they accommodated us by having it cleaned up by the time we were back from dinner. Later that evening when I went into the bathroom to wash my face I grabbed a towel to dry my face when I noticed the smell of throw up. You can only imagine my face when I realized that the towel was full of throw-up. My husband went to shower and found that the shower had throw up all down the walls that were never cleaned up. The morning that we left my husband talked with the manager and she gave us another gift cert to use. Upon our next visit we were met by the desk clerk who got us into our room just to have the manager call us a few moments later to tell us that the gift cert was no longer good. I had months earlier called another manager to have the gift cert extended because of family matters and at that time it was no problem she even had me initial it to validate it. The manager on duty this time told us that the previous manager was no longer with them and they could not accept the gift cert. SHe told us to pack up or pay full price for the room. WE WERE SHOCKED!!! We argued with them and explained everything and she would not budge to accommodiate us. Imagine a hotel that is supposed to be top notch cannot comp a room to set things right. We ended up packing our bags and walking out NEVER EVER to return again! This is humilating and they should be embarrassed about this. I have heard so many others talk about how rude their staff is. I would never use it again, not even for my pet. There will be a new top notch hotel coming into Birmingham...I am sure that they will blow them out of the water and hopefully close their doors for good

Best Hotel Stay EVER!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/07
Great accomodations! It was our birthday weekend, and when we arrived, they upgraded us to a massive, gorgeous, extremely clean suite at no extra cost! Fabulous ammenities and when part of our breakfast wasn't to our liking the next morning, they took the entire meal off our bill. I would recommend this place to ANYONE!!! (We even saw Phil Collins there...so if it is good enough for him, it's good enough for me)

dirty and rude
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/07
Beautiful location, rude staff, hair in my bathtub, pop stains on the wall, lights out in the hallway, unresponsive to repeated requests. POOR value for the money. I expected much more.

What happened to service?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/06
Stayed over a weekend to get away from our two young children. The room was great, housekeeping top notch, but the attitude of the staff could be improved. Nobody said "Hello" or acknowledged me or my wife until we asked for assistance, and even then we felt like we were bothering them.

Wonderful Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/06
I celebrated my college graduation at the Townsend Hotel. The staff was absolutely wonderful. They created a personalized menu for me and contacted my family repeated to ensure that every detail was covered. The food was absolutely fabulous, the waitstaff was wonderfully attentive and overall it was the most successful party my family has hosted. I loved the service I recieved and would recommend the Townsend to anyone who is willing to spend some money to receive the best service available.

We were very shocked!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/08/05
As a group of ladies over 50 we were very surprised at the lack of courtesy and professionalism that we received from the staff. We won't return.

Not snooty...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/05
I stayed at the hotel last month, and found service friendly and not at all snooty! The waitstaff in the restaurant gave me all sorts of tips and ideas for things to do while in town. Breakfast was delicious!
