Late night on the tollway - great stay!
By DMR, 9/17/11
Driving the tollway late in August, I needed a place to stay with my 100+ lb dog. I picked up a tollway map with coupons at the first rest stop coming in from Illinois. I figured I had another hour in my to drive - so I started calling South Bend hotels to see if they had a room and would take us. The coupons were great because they indicated if the hotel was pet friendly right off. The young gal who answered here really made my night. She was friendly and very helpful. I called a few other places that were a bit cheaper but the person answering made the place sound like it was in the ghetto. I made it to the Jameson Inn around midnight. Same person checked me in. She was great! She did a great job and made me feel very welcome. She even offered to let me have a late check out since I was checking in so late, but unfortunately had to be on the road again early. Entering the king size room, i was really surprised by how big it was. Very comfortable and nicely appointed. The bathroom could have used a little updating but it was far from being gross. The towels were ok. The bed was very comfortable. Great to have wireless access free with a nice desk area to sit in. Overall, i will stay here again as I have 4 more years of driving between MN and Pittsburgh - and this was a nice halfway point.

Will never stay again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/08
We made reservations a month and a half prior to staying there. I called the hotel twice before leaving to assure my reservations and also called while traveling as we would not be arriving until 2 a.m.-I was assured my room-(nonsmoking 2 queen beds for my family of 4)would be here when we arrived, and the person I spoke to said she would even note that we would have a late checkin. I also guaranteed the room with a credit card. When we arrived in the middle of the night our room had been rented-we were very upset as most hotels in the area were full. The only room available was a king smoking room-for four adults!!!! I took the room as we needed to sleep-horrible room- everything smelled heavily of smoke as did all of our luggage when we left. The manager stopped by in the morning stating she could move us if a room became available-but meanwhile we had to be out of the room by 11 a.m. with our luggage and could check back in after 3 pm. -We did find a room down the road Comfort Suites-very nice and very nice staff!!! I guess a confirmation number and guaranteeing a room with a credit card is meaningless-beware they overbook!!!

Excellent Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/07
After seeing some bad reviews of the Holiday Inn downtown, and seeing the price tag for the Marriott, we opted to look farther afield. We got a great deal on the Signature by Jameson through Expedia for $76 a night and it was well worth it. This was a great hotel. Just off the tollway and an easy 5 minute drive to downtown, it is set in a safe, commercial area. Though not overly impressive from outside, the hotel's interior is clean and well decorated. Some work could be done on the pool and fitness room areas, which feel a bit bare, and some workout machines are dated. Still, there was a nice new eliptical machine, and the pool and hot tub were large and well maintained. The rooms were big, quiet and comfortable, with large, soft beds and free wireless internet. Front desk help was on the ball, and there was no shortage of friendly housekeeping staff. The free breakfast was a great perk, with all the usuals, plus Belgian waffles. Overall, the service was excellent, staff friendly, rooms clean, breakfast included, decor up-to-date. Everything you could want. We stayed for 3 nights and will certainly stay again when returning to the South Bend area.

If you ever need a room in South Bend
By Jeff, 10/21/06
First off I travel to South Bend quite a lot. Nearly every hotel near there attempts to grab as much money for a room as they can, given the standard room rates in the area. Signature was not like that at all. It felt as if I was staying in a $120. room for $80. The staff works hard to keep you happy and you will be.
