BEST WESTERN Indian Oak, Chesterton

I have booked the room in BEST WESTERN Indian Oak, through expedia for 02/17/11. I arrived at the hotel around 12.00 pm . I were greeted by the front desk personnel which was very polite and took care of us very promptly. The hotel itself is very luxurious. I was lucky to be able to stay here. The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well which was well needed. The hotel has a gym and pool. The pool is Indoor so it be used. Hotel has great amenities like Complimentary full breakfast , Cable tv, Microwave, Refrigerator, Coffee/tea maker. Our overall experience was pleasant and relaxing.

This place is actually located on a dirty little swamp behind a strip mall. The pictures appear to have been VERY carefully taken to avoid showing how wretched the location truly is. Noisy, dirty and managed by people who seem to be completely clueless concerning customer service. Three suggestions: 1) Avoid, 2) Avoid and 3) Avoid.

the ladies and the front desk are rude!!! we had a problem because they charged us a 140 for a broken picture that we did not break!!! i call on friday to speak to a manager on friday and it is monday and still have not been called back!!! i call saturday again and spoke to nicole she was very rude and ended up hanging up on me! i will never go back!!

I really enjoy Indian Oak everytime that I come. The rooms are nice. The staff is helpful and the salon is great! I love my spa services, especially the massage. I recommend it for travelers or persons who want to get away to a quiet and peaceful place for Rest and relaxation and pampering.

The room was nice i liked the view to the pond. i liked the hair salon that they had in the hotel. there was a lot of stains on the walls and the sheets were dirty. the front dest clerk was very rude and did not have any matters what so ever. I DONT THINK I WOULD GO BACK THERE. they did not have enough parking spaces.

We stayed at the Indian Oak and were so surprised to open the blinds in the morning and see swans, ducks and wildlife on a natural lake slightly iced over trimmed in snow. Then we went down to a FREE continental breakfast where we made our own Belgium waffles. There are bagels, cereal, oatmeal, scrambled eggs and sausage! Delicious coffee, juices and more were available. Then we went to the pool. It was indoor and big enough to do laps (larger than the typical hotel indoor pool). The staff was very friendly. We were asked if we needed anything 4 times. The room had granite counters in the bathroom, soft beds and a pull out couch. We slept our family of six (3 teens) comfortably. We didn’t get to use the spa but would have loved to. Great price, Great value.

Our one night stay at this hotel was comfortable, adequate, and very easy to find right off of the highway. We had a n/s king room with a balcony, lake view. The staff was not incredibly friendly but they weren't rude either. There was a wide variety of foods available for the continental breakfast, we were hoping to sleep in on our one morning without the kids, but unfortunatly breakfast was only served until 9. The room was clean and overall our stay was enjoyable.

I am not certain where those who are negative regarding this hotel are coming from. I do know that this hotel was recently remodeled, so it is likely that many of the poor reviews were prior to or during this remodeling. We stayed off-season and during the week, so we were able to get a fantastic rate on our room, but I believe that a peak season rate would still be a good value. Rooms: Clean and quite nice. Most rooms face some sort of body of water and include a patio/deck you may sit out on. Soft beds and and pleasant artwork on walls that fit with the overall theming of this establishment. Many rooms have a small refrigerator, with separate freezer (unlike your typical room fair, which has more of a "dorm room" refrigerator/freezer). There is also an in room single-cup coffee maker and hair drier. Rooms also include a microwave and many have large flat-screen televisions. Pool Area: Also clean and quiet (though we were staying mid-week, off-season). Area consists of a larger than average hotel pool with what seems to be a recently relined bottom that is kinder on the feet than many concrete bottomed pools. There is also a small spa tub in the pool area. I do wish the water in this spa was a little warmer and that the tub were larger (the tub is above ground, shallow and about the "standard size" that you might purchase for your home). I was also pleased to find that the pool area had a sauna, which seems to be a rare find these days. Other Amenities: Very comfortable lobby area to work or simply to lounge. Nice free hot breakfast available consisting of waffles, sausage/egg biscuits, biscuit gravy, fruit, muffins, cold cereal and oatmeal, apple juice, orange juice (one morning the juice did seem slightly watered down), coffee, and I'm sure other items that I'm forgetting. I usually try to get to the breakfast at most hotels as early as possible as many times showing up late results in a well picked-over continental breakfast. However, one morning I did show up late to the breakfast and the selection was just as good (and all the hot items were still hot) as when I showed up early. Service: Second to none. Neil Patel is one of the better hotel managers I have had the opportunity to meet and it's clear that this hotel has a good future while he is working there. My wife and my needs were attended to courteously and promptly. Summary: My wife and I have family members in the area and have stayed at many hotels in the Valparaiso, IN and surrounding areas. This is one of the best in the area and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in the northern Indiana area.

My husband and I finally had a weekend away from the kids, and booked a weekend stay at Indian Oaks---What a DISAPPOINTMENT! The bathroom had mold on the floors, and on the shower curtain. The toliet barely flushed! Our "forest view" was accually a view of the parking lot! We heard other people running their hot tubs, and worst of all, other people having "relations"! I can't believe how much the rooms were, and the maid told us the room was one of the remodeled ones! Unbelieveable! Word of mouth goes a long way!

Have stayed @ the Lodge several times just to experience the SPA which is wonderful in every way! Supposedly there are new owners for the hotel and we actually saw workmen there on Sunday replacing bathroom counters and sinks. They have a LOT of work to do both inside and outside! I totally concur with all the negative reviews - the lake is still green with something foul, the "lakeside" view is of geese and no landscaping, weeds abound, the hallway by the pool is absolutely disgusting, etc. The good news for those of us who like the Spa is that they are breaking ground soon for a new spa with attached hotel rooms - we can only hope they will live up to the expectation of the word "Resort and Spa".
