Disgustingly rude staff
By -g, 3/12/12
Chronic problem with hotel keys not working and the staff was equally as inept. Three attempts to rectify key problem were met with the general manager's daughter commenting on my impatience and then calling me names even after I apologized for being hurried b/c I was late for work b/c of her inability to mke the key work. Additionally she resorted to calling me names and threatening to sick her daddy on me...this place is low class and dirty from the stained carpets to the foul-mouthed and lazy staff. Stay away

Do NOT stay here
By Disgusted, 2/26/12
We had a reservation at another hotel that we normally stay but it was booked with tons of high school kids. The manager of the Country Inn and Suites near the airport was good enough to cancel our reservation even though it was past the cut off time. Most the hotels were booked in Bloomington but we got into the Chateau no problems. My first interaction with the staff was over the phone, I should have taken it as an omen. A male answered the phone and was laughing so hard, (about what I have no idea), and then he hung up. I called back and a female answered this time. I told her that I had just been hung up on, her response was, "OK SO WHAT DO YOU NEED?" In a rather condescending voice. We didn’t want to turn around and go home, as we already promised our kids a weekend of pool time when we arrived we walked into a very grand lobby and thought, “OH THIS IS PRETTY COOL.”, and felt pleased with our decision. Ah but then came time to deal with the staff. I made the statement this place looks like a castle. The female employee stated, “YA THAT’S WHAT CHATEAU MEANS IN FRENCH.” Once again in a very condescending voice, as if I was some type of an idiot. She left and a male staff member came out. Was hopeful to deal with a new person. His voice sounded familiar and I asked him if he was the one laughing in the phone and hung up on me about 10 minutes prior to my arrival. He stated, “I DON’T KNOW MAYBE.” And gave me a dirty look. I was boiling at this point but being a police officer I know how to hold my tongue. Ok to the room and pool. The room at first glance appeared clean and comfortable, I was happy. Before pool time we went to the hotel restaurant for convenience. Two cheeseburgers and two chicken finger baskets for the kids later I dropped $60. I told myself don’t think about it you’re here to have fun with the kids. Ok to the pool. Large pool, large hot tub. The pool areas were dirty and had garbage on several of the deck tables. The pool temp was about 77deg, pretty cold. The men’s and women’s bathroom were filthy and the sauna was in shambles and didn’t work. Time for bed. The sheets did not smell clean, but the beds were comfortable. I went to the front desk to ask for more plastic cups and three more towels. You would have thought I was asking for the clerk’s kidney, rude, rude, rude. Woke up the next morning excited about the hot breakfast, oh boy, this day will be better. The buffet consisted of rubbery french toast, sausage links and powder eggs, yum, not! I thought the staff would address all the things I brought to their attention, dirty pool area, no towels in the pool area and the sauna, etc.... No. The same garbage was sitting in the same place in the deck area and the hot tub had a yellow film floating on top. Disgusted we decided it was time to depart. As I’m checking the room to make sure we had not forgotten any items, I checked under the beds, I wish I hadn’t. Under the beds I found, candy wrappers, a cell phone charger and some dirty socks. This told me the room had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. It was definitely time to GO! Upon checking out I was hopeful for a new nicer staff, no. The clerk threw my receipt at me and stated, ‘THERE YOU GO.” SAVE YOUR MONEY DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!! I DON’T LIKE GIVING MY HARD EARNED MONEY TO PEOPLE WHO TALKED TO ME LIKE I’M SOME TYPE OF IDIOT AND THE filthiness of the hotel has me feeling nauseas. Jason

VERY disappointing!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/11
We came for the New Year's package with a large group of friends. We were very disappointed! The band was alright but there were cheap little beads & a paper crown for decorations, snacks were so-so, a two sip cheap champaign toast at Midnight. Yipee!! Our room was worn and a little beat up but not too bad but the hallways are smelly and dirty. The WORST part though was we went down at 9:30 the next morning for the buffet which "ended" at 10. There was no place to sit but there were numerous uncleared tables, I'd guess 15 or 20. We stood around for about 10 minutes by an empty table, thinking someone would see us, pay attention and clean us a place. I finally ASKED a girl to please clear a table for us. She picked up the plates and pushed the glasses to the other side of the table and didn't even wipe it off, just walked away to visit with another table! We decided that maybe we would just fill a plate and maybe when we came back the table would be clean. When we got to the buffet, there were no plates! We asked if we could get a plate and they said "the buffet ends at 10". I said "it's ten till." The waiter just walked away!! When we saw some friends who were already seated, we talked to them and they said they had terrible service and they got there early but their food was cold and not that good. They asked the staff about getting some bacon and they said they weren't making bacon today. We stood by the table a bit more and then we decided to just leave. From a business standpoint, when the reservations came in, you knew how many people would be there for brunch. Couldn't you have adaquate staff, plates and food to serve that many people? EVERY table was used and you had no one to clear them or wait on people?!? We went to the main desk to see if we could get some of our money back since we now had to go BUY breakfast elsewhere because we didn't get to have the buffet. Their response was "Well, it's part of the package." I said "I know but we didn't get to eat!" "It's 10 and the buffet stops at 10" " I know that but we stood around at least 20 minutes waiting for someone to clear us a spot to sit!" "Well we don't have the authority to give you any money back but you can keep you ticket and come back another time" !?!?!? Yeah, right. This was our GREAT introduction to the new year! We were there with about 8 other couples who met at your facility to get together for a great celebration and we were NOT impressed! The band even commented about how many of us there were from our town. We came to this hotel about 5 years ago for our anniversary and were not impressed then but we thought since all of our friends wanted to go here for the New Year's party, maybe things had improved and we would give it another chance.....we should have stayed home! What a disappointment!!! You can be sure we will spread the word!! We WON'T be back next year and you can bet our friends won't either! We used to stop at your restaurant for special occasions, Mother's Day, etc. but that won't happen any more either. You guys really need to look at how you do business and give people some value for their $! You can't get away with this kind of service for long. Word will spread and your fancy entry and chandieliers won't bring people back for a second visit or even a first when they read these reviews!

The best hotel I have ever stayed.
By val, 8/17/08
I loved all. My room was so nice, clean, with everything I needed: fridge with freezer, alarm clock, internet for free, tv, iron,...the installations were all clean. I enjoyed the pool and spa...I checked in before I was supposed to. I never had to wait more then 1 min for the shuttle to take me anywhere I wanted. Every single staff member was so nice, patient, always helpful and with a sincere and huge smile. The lobby is also so cozy and homey. Stores, restaurants, movie theater, bus stops are just across the street I didnt want to leave. I miss my experience.

What do I have to do to get a call back?
By J, 7/4/08
I left a pair of shoes in my room. When I returned home I called the hotel to find them. They told me that I had to speak to housekeeping, but they're busy all the time so I would have to leave a message on their voicemail and was told not to worry because they are very good about returning calls. No return call by the next afternoon. I left another message. I asked for the manager, but I was told he was "too busy". Still no return call by the next early evening. I called the hotel and they tried to put me into voicemail again. This time, I was quite angry. I was told the management was gone and would not be back for two days. Sarah said she would have someone look to see IF my shoes were in the closet, but they were sooooo busy she couldn't promise to call me back. I explained to Sarah that if I said something like that to one of my clients I would never get do business with them again.

The best hotel in town!
By Lawrence, 4/23/08
When I arrived, the staff was extremly professional, the rooms were very clean and the location was excellent. Overall, we will be returning to this hotel. We were there for a family reunion, and the hotel even provided a free shuttle to where we wanted to go and picked us up when we were ready! :)

Don't go
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/07
I stayed at the hotel with my wife for a wedding. We'll never go again. Service is horrible to non-existent, and staff is rude. Additionally, they charged my credit card twice and now I am trying to get get reimbursed. Don't fall for the fake glamorous "chateau" thing. There are plenty of other hotels in the area.

they need to update
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/17/07
i recently stayed in an executive suite at the chateau and i was dissatisfied with the condition of the place in general. there was calcium deposits amongst other things in the tub and sink area. both the men's and womens sauna's did not work in the pool area. the video game machines they have mostly did not work. their gym needs updated and they are very expensive for a very average hotel. it looks nice with the french deco or whatnot but it is really a place that needs a makeover.

Stay far away from this hotel....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/6/07
I would not stay at this hotel again. The hotel was dirty and needs to be updated. I should have checked their past health inspections before eating in the restaurant. Very unhappy and my comment card to the management was not followed up on.

Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/06
Stayed here for a wedding in June. Was initially placed in a room in the basement, which had an unbearable mildew odor, which I think is the reason they blasted the AC to try and get rid of it. Tried to switch rooms, and was unable to do this until I told the front desk I had an allergy to molds. Rooms are big, but not terribly clean. Restaurant is terrible, your best bet is to go to Chili's across the street or somewhere else. Really disappointed with the front desk here, not helpful at all.
