I would go back!
By AG, 8/9/10
Hotel was clean. Staff was friendly. Pool was perfect for the baby. Continental breakfast was OK. Had better Continental Breakfasts at other Best Westerns. Breakfast room is small and they didn't have highchairs for the baby. For the money, it was good. Would have spent much more in NJ.

Location is the ONLY reason to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/7/09
The only thing good was it's proximity to the Rusty Rudder. Our two night stay cost us $216, but they still added an "extra" $40 for possible charges, but after 3 days, they have yet to refund this "deposit" even after they assured me that it would be refunded the day after check out. I was ASSURED that there would only be the one charge of $216 added to my card when I checked in. I made sure that this question was answered since I only transferred $250 to this Debit card. After calling the Manager 3 separate times, and requesting to have the $40 refunded back to my account, and that it has now created an overdraft to my account, she informed me that there is nothing they can do about it...BUT....She was willing to offer me a $50 discount on our next "2 DAY" visit.......ARE THEY NUTS? STAY THERE AGAIN? NEVER!!! We selected a designated smoking room, but when we tried to smoke, the room's fire detector would always go off....YET NOT ONE PERSON FROM THE DESK CAME TO CHECK OUT WHY IT WAS GOING OFF, NOT ONCE...NOT EVEN A PHONE CALL....IT'S APPARENT THAT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CLIENTS IS NOT A PRIORITY THERE....VERY UNSAFE IF YOU ASK ME!! The bathroom was FILTHY....HAIR WAS ON THE BATHROOM SINK, SHOWER DRAIN, BATHROOM FLOOR and TOILET RIM....UGH! Carpet MAY have been vacuumed, but I can tell that the previous occupants were eating in there. The double occupancy room only came with 2 wash cloths, 3 towels, 1 small shampoo bottle, and 1 conditioner. I had to beg for 2 extra towels from the cleaning lady, since I told them I was not ready to have my room made up at 9:45 AM....WHEN "THEY" WANTED TO DO IT. The compressor on the fridge was EXTREMELY NOISEY, so much so that we resorted to just unplugging the darn thing. The grounds keepers picked 8 AM on SUNDAY MORNING to spray weed killer, and do landscaping right outside our patio door. Then maintenance figured Sunday "at check out time" would be a good time to paint all the exit doors, making it very difficult to leave the building, all the while you're trying NOT to get WET PAINT on your clothes and luggage. They were so busy painting over the dirt on the doors, that they never removed the DEAD RAT laying right by the exit door....it was there FROM OUR FRIDAY NIGHT CHECK IN, TO OUR SUNDAY MORNING CHECK OUT....who knows, it's probably still there. The heater in the room made it very difficult to hear a normal conversation in the room, let alone sleep.....but with only a sheet, thin blanket and bed spread to keep warm at night, you had to run it.....MAYBE AN EXTRA BLANKET IN THE ROOM WOULD BE NICE. THIS IS ONE CLIENT THAT WILL NOT BE A RETURNING CUSTOMER.....NOW WILL I EVER RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS.

I'd go back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/07
We went in April 2007 and it was very clean, newly painted, no signs of mold or other problems related in other reviews. The beds were comfortable and although the baths are a little small, they were clean. Everyone at the desk was extremely helpful and friendly esp. when we had car problems. I've never stayed at the end of the beach season (which in Dewey is extremely hard on any hotel!!) but the springtime visit was wonderful!

Location location location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/11/07
I think the hotel is a bit older, and a bit of a "beach place" (meaning it could use some work. But, the staff was very friendly to us. It was a great location. Right near the water, good parking, and away from the hussle and bussle of the "bigger" beaches! We go there a few times a year, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

I Can't Wait to Go Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/06
I just got home and I can't wait until I go back. The service was Excellent! The location is great and close to anything you would want to do. I almost didn't book here because of a few of the reviews but I chose to take a chance and glad I did. Any place you stay at the beach this time of year is going to have a few problems but when you approach the staff with a smile and kind words they are more than happy to help you..especially here. Thank you, Gold Leaf, for my three "mental health" days. I'll definitely return.

Don't stay here!
By Sassy3272, 7/17/06
Other than the location, which was pretty good, this hotel is disgusting. I would NOT recommend staying here. There is mold and mildew on the walls. For the price you pay for this hotel, the quality of service and appearance should be much better.

Best Western Gold Leaf
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/25/06
We stayed here four nights in the summer. Good location, continental breakfast was OK, kids loved that the pool is on the roof, parking garage was convenient, but was built a little steep. Front desk staff could perk up a bit.

Good Location
By Anil, 5/4/06
We go to this hotel every time we go to Dewey Beach. It's right next to beach and there is a nice deck bar a cross the street from the hotel. If you would like to have couple of drinks and not drive, this hotel is very convenient. It has a decent breakfast and nice staff. ItÂ’s very close to Rehoboth boardwalk as well.
