Hotel Vista Del Mar, Avalon

Vista del Mar was everything I expected and more. The rooms are nice and roomy. The place is very calm and clean and the staff are extremely nice. They give you fresh baked cookies in the evening which make you feel right at home and a nice breakfast in the morning. I will definitely be going back there and recommend this place to anyone who's going to be staying in Catalina.

the staff was wonderful....the location was the best..right on front street... the hotel served fresh baked warm cookies and milk in the evening...the room was beautiful..with a cozy fireplace...even the lobby was nice. so many plants,nice and colorful.. we loved it.. next trip to catalina we'll be going to vista del mar!

We stayed in one of the 2 suites overlooking the bay. All I can say is FANTASTIC. I live in Las Vegas and have stayed in and seen many fine hotel rooms and this one exceeded my expectations. The location and views are fantastic. I would not stay anywhere else on future visits to Catalina. Not cheap but you will forget about price as soon as you sit down on your private patio overlooking Avalon. I have been visiting Catalina for 35 years and still have not found anything like it. Our first impression of the hotel was of course its location (right on the front street with views of the waterfront, the casino and the lovely homes and shops on the NE hillside--then the friendliness of the front office. We stayed in an ocean front suite which was gorgeous--beautiful furnishing, a fireplace, plus a large jacuzzi for two that had an ocean view. Bathroom was done in beautiful stone with a separate shower compartment. A cooled bottle of a lovely Chardonnay was awaiting us compliments of the hotel. Throughout our stay we enjoyed the friendly service of the staff. Our continental breakfast was delivered to our door for us to enjoy on the patio or in bed. The only complaint we had would have been a bit more variance in the breakfast, but there again it is a continental breakfast which included warm sweet bread, fruit, yogurt, dry cereal, milk, choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. We never ate breakfast out at all. Though we were there in the slower season, prices of the waterfront rooms were still quite inflated, but worth every penny to be able to relax and enjoy Catalina at its finest.

THIS HOTEL IS THE BEST ON THE ISLAND, I KID YOU NOT!!!! On the survey sheet, they give you a range from 1 to 10. I GAVE IT A 15!!!! First of all, it's 5 minutes from the boat dock that you arrive on. And you can see it from the dock itself, looking at this gorgeous hotel with its beautiful European style arches. It's on the third floor with no elevator, but that is not a problem if you can make the stairs, and completely worth it!! As soon as you get to the top of the stairs, you get the incredible view of the harbor, because the hotel is right on the beach!!!! The sfaff was very, very friendly and big thanks to Donna there, such a sweetheart. We didn't have the ocean view room, but still loved it. Our room was gorgeous, a seating area, a small table, a mini bar, a comfortable bed, a fireplace, and a jacuzzi tub. They served us breakfast in the morning and cookies and milk at night. They bake the cookies during the day and you can smell them throughout the day. The balcony is right off the stairs and is a very peaceful place to sit and take in the scenery at night. I would VERY HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking to get away and want a very romantic time. This place is perfect for couples. I took my girlfriend here, and proposed to her right outside on the beach. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! If you stay anywhere on the island CHOOSE THE HOTEL VISTA DEL MAR!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!!!

best! Service is excellent. The staff is incredibly friendly and always smiling, really made me feel valued. The rooms are so beautiful it's almost hard to leave them. Location is right on the beach and almost directly across from the pier. All in all, definitely worth your night. I don't think I'll stay at another hotel on the island after staying here.

I love this place and have stayed there several times over the years. Best (though pricey) are the ocean view suites. I've never gone during the season as I go to Catalina to RELAX and, so far, this hotel has never disappointed.

Great view, awesome ammenities, best location to be close to everything in Avalon. Only place we'll ever stay. The suite is worth every penny.

The court yard is beautiful with all the plants. We stayed in one of the ocean view rooms, it had a very relaxing romantic island decor and vibe to it. I stayed at a couple of cheaper hotels but from now on I will only stay at Vista Del Mar.

We Just Stayed There July 29th,30th, We Had The Best Time It's Are 4th year There The Room's are great and So Clean. That's The first thing I Look for. So Stay There It's hard to get A room cause everybody likes to stay there. We reserved are room about 4 months ago. great view and great cont,breakfast,and the beat hosipitality.So enjoy
