Villa Del Mar, San Clemente

For $325.00 a night we got smelly rooms furnished with left over thrift store furniture, peeling bath tub, not enough toilet paper, missing window screens, no telephone, TV with bad reception, stifling bedroom, non-working A/C, a ceiling fan that wobbled and clattered all night, not enough electric outlets, torn and frayed deck chair pads, doors that needed a wrestler to shut, and a disgusting looking kitchen with a faucet that would not budge. At least the beach was free (and awsome). What a trap, Stay away!!!!

The view was beautiful but doesnt make up for what a dump this place is. The room is gross. They advertised air conditioning but it didnt work. We were there during a slight heat wave so we had to open the patio door which had no screens to keep the bugs out. Only windows in bedroom were tiny and had no screens and were by the trash bins. The showers backed up with water so you were actually taking a bath. The owners only want the money and show no pride in your hotel experience. They want your money and forget about you! There's a reason why they want a cash deposit up front. We couldnt take anymore after 3 days we took our 1300.00 loss for the days we didnt stay and went to Dana Point and stayed at a hotel. Take the hint,..dont go, you will hate it. We have stayed in beautiful condos in LA JOLLA that were even less expensive. I will say that the maid was very sweet. I wish I looked up reviews before i booked this dump.

What a horrendous dump!! The only thing going for it was the view/location. The rooms stunk of body odor, broken and run-down furniture, the electrical outlets didn't work, no heating, wall paper pealing off the walls, bathroom so disgusting we wore our flip flops in the shower! I could go on, but, truly, STAY AWAY, you will be very dissapointed. These people apparently also own the "Seahorse Inn" so I would avoid that one as well. There are many wonderful places to stay in San Clemente, but this is certainly not one of them.
