Blue Sky Hotel, Berkeley

Never even got the chance to stay there. Booked a month and a half in advance, partial payment charged to my cc, received email confirmation and even talked to Roger over the phone to confirm reservation. Now, two weeks before my trip, I received a call instructing me the can not honor my reservation. What?!? It was explained to me that the owner decide to rent to someone else. Are you kidding me?!? There was no attempt to remedy my situation or take responsibility for leaving me without a place to stay. Very disappointed.

Upon arrival I found this hotel to be very unusual. The entire main floor housed a Indian curry restaurant that eminated a terrible smell that perminated throughout the hotel. When we went to check in the desk clerk acted very put out and reluctant to answer any questions about parking or any accomodations. The parking lot was small on the side of the building and could only accommodate 5-6 cars comfortably. When we came down early in the morning for breakfast the desk clerk was no were in sight and the contintenal breakfast did not exist! In checking my car the next morning and it was covered in tomatoes which I realized had been in the curry that we ate the night before. Room was awful and extremely expensive, noisy at night from the students and hobos roaming the steets until 3:00 a.m., no parking, no contential, worst experience with a hotel ever!

Dirty, located over an indian restaurant hence the rooms stink, no AC, no hotel lobby, don't count on them for a wake up service, concierge service does not exist (nobody at the reception after certain hours and a until 9 in the morn.) and top of this expensive, located in the student ghetto. One word can summarize all this: TERRIBLE!

Stayed only one night. Was told there was off-street parking when I booked,But found very small,and very crowded,shared lot with no parking.Had to pay at public lot a block away. Room was small for the price.and not really that clean.Bedspread torn and stained.Hotel personnel seemed to be put out by the guests.They dont stay at the desk you had to call them to meet you there.Fire alarm went off at 1:00am stood on the curb 20 min. with no-one from hotel giving us an up date. Desk clerk had to be called when he finally showed up,said nothing to any guests.Would not recommend ,nor stay here agian.

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in Berkeley. There is an indian restaurant in it which makes the entire hotel smell terrible. The website states that you get a "continental breakfast" with your stay. Yeah, well, you get a few donuts and a container of raisin bran. I strongly advise you not to stay here! I enjoyed Hotel Durant much, much better.

Don't expect your reservation to mean anything. We made a block booking for a wedding party, sent out all the information to our guests, but when people came to confirm bookings they were told the hotel was completely booked for the whole month of July. Expecting a simple mistake we called the Hotel, but were told that they had been offered a large amount of money up front so had simply canceled our booking.
