Hotel Novotel
By ALLISON, 01/27/09
I enjoyed my stay over the weekend at Novotel. A few things they don't tell you. The mini-bar is really expensive like $5/drink and it has automatic sensors so even if you just look at it they charge you. The botteled water on top $4.50/bottle and it's not even cold. Parking they charge about $18.00/day but well worth it because in other areas of Toronto you will pay more throughout the day. The broadband internet was supposed to be free, but when I accessed it they asked for a credit card number, so apparentely it wasn't free. The hotel was clean and sharp looking. The elevator in order to go up to your floor you must have you room key or else it will not go any further than the second floor. The staff was decent. No complaints about them. Hotel Novotel is in a good location, you better have your walking shoes on because you will be doing a lot of that if you don't want to spend a lot of money on parking! Well worth the $93.00 Canadian.

Great location and value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/08
We stayed at the hotel on October 13, 2008. The room is bright and spacious. There is a beautiful grand lobby with marble floors, very clean, free internet access in two areas and a very friendly staff. Our room featured a European design with attractive modern furniture. The Novatel has one of the best locations for a walking trip to dozens of restaurants and tourist attractions. We dined at a wonderful restaurant called Ivory Thai located near Church and Adelaide streets, only a few blocks from out hotel. The food presentation is authentic Thai and the quality is excellent. We also had the breakfast buffet at the hotel. A varied and fresh selection is offered at $15.95 plus tax and gratuity. There are also a la carte items at a lower price if your budget is limited. The buffet breakfast pricing is at par with almost all downtown hotels. The parking is indeed pricey at $18.95 plus tax, however there are in and out privileges unlike public parking in the area. Toronto is a large cosmopolitan city with a huge variety of accommodations and the Novatel fits in just right for the person looking for mid range elegance at a price that is not highly exorbitant for the services and location rendered. I would definitely stay there again.

Be ware of the hidden charge
By khai, 08/12/08
The hotel is generally nice. Except couple things that need to be aware of: 1. The hotel is charging for the parking fee. I asked them why and they said "There is no free parking in downtown Toronto!". I was charged for $21.50 a day for parking in the hotel parking lot, including tax. 2. The book a room with 2 queen beds. But when I arrived, the queen beds they said on the webside were actually double beds. I don't know if there is a difference queen bed size between America and Canada? ~kl

By Silkiladi, 07/25/08
We stayed at the hotel to see a concert at the ACC. What an awesome location for this! The staff were extrememly friendly, the room was very clean and large, the buffet breakfast was excellent and check in/ out was very quick and painless. We WILL stay here again and again!!

Won't be in a hurry to stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is very nicely located an is within walking distance of just about everything you would want in downtown Toronto. On the bad side: Parking is almost $20 per day. The beds are horrendously uncomfortable. The housekeeping staff ignores the "Do Not Disturb" sign. I booked a package deal through the hotel's own website and when we got there, they claimed to not have our reservation in the computer. Luckily, I had my confirmation email and they had to give us the discounted rate I had booked (through their own website!). Apparently, when packages change they simply delete the old reservations for the packages that have ended out of their system. Don't try to check in without your confirmation number! Oh, and they cheated us on a currency exchange. Exchange your money at a bank or at the border - don't do it at this hotel!

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/23/07
The location and the restaurant were great. Everything else was horrible. Service, cleanliness, price. The people working at the front desk, were very rude, unhelpful and could not give a straight answer to anything. Our room was not very clean, we didn't even get a sheet on the bed.

Good breakfast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/23/07
The breakfast buffet was quite good - lots of fresh fruit, eggs, pasteries, etc. The guy facilities were pretty good, although the sauna was very poor and isn't worth trying IMHO (saunas should not be draughty!). Plus, I think I contracted a staff infection there. Service was good from the employees. FYI, local calls will ding you a buck a-piece, and if you're thirsty the tap water is decent whereas minibar bottled water costs ~$4!!! - and don't even think about touching those bottles because they sit on a sensitive senor pad - think: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I'd hate to think how much I'd get charged for removing that Toblerlone

I loved it there in Downtown Toronto
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/06
Me and my husband visited Toront from Vancouver and decided to stay in Novotel.I wanted something in downtown so that we can see the night life and all the real Toronto can offer. Check in/out was fast and the staff was very pleasant. Rooms had plasma screens with surrond sound. That was very pleasant. We were dining out during our 3 days stay,so I can't comment on their restaurant facilities. My husband runs a small family business and carries his notebook with him.He was really surprised by free high speed connection. pros: close to shops, restaurants, banks,CN Tower, food markets and art areas Cons: Some pictures, signs, menues in the elevators looked a bit outdated and old looking. It was really weird, since everything else is so hip and trendy.Just didn't match with the whole look.(yes,I notice a lot of things) Overall,we really liked it and would definetely stay there again.

What a Deal!
By Annette, 05/15/06
Rooms are large, clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. I forgot my toothpaste and the hotel provided me with some free of charge. Excellent staff and not a single hassle with my reservation via yahoo!travel Great location in downtown for travel both by car and subway. We had a rental car for two days and it was easy and quick access off the freeway. No problems parking in the hotel garage (there is a charge for parking). A definate deal! I will definately stay there again!

Simply modern in the City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/03/06
Novotel was everything we expected. Our room was a great size and simply modern. The location was good, a little far from Queen St. and Yorkville (if you like shopping). It is in walking distance to the Harbor though. Great price for the quality. We would definitely stay again.
