Wonderful Castle experience
By BillK, 12/27/07
My wife and I enjoyed every minute of our stay at Waterford Castle. The setting is beautiful with trails to wander and the castle is prestine. The staff left no detail undone and the restaurant was wonderful. We can't wait to stopp again on our next visit.

Excellent Hotel
By Andy, 6/14/07
This is a great hotel. The staff and service was excellent! My wife and I had a wonderful time. The hotel lounge had great food, drinks and conversation with other guests. The grounds were beautiful and secluded. The lobby with it's welcoming fireplace was a great place to relax and read. Would love to stay there again!

Worth Every Cent!
By Cheryl, 10/7/06
We were fortunate enough to actually be in Ireland for St. Patrick's Day-in Waterford... the town-and staying at Waterford Castle. It was an unbelievalbe experience and one we will always treasure. The place is perfect-although not the finest we stayed in while visitng Ireland. It is an experience like none other. It was our friends' 41st anniversary and the staff celebrated with them and honored their celebration like no where else in the world! The rooms were fabulous, the meals were fabulous and the staff beyond words. If golf is your game, the grounds are inviting. We enjoyed the (bar area)sitting room where the men smoked their pipes, sipped their whiskey and had very interesting converstations with other guests. First class surroundings and service AND not overrun with tourists.

Live Like a Lord and Lady
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/06
Tranquility with a touch of opulence. You feel like a true guest of the manor, rather than a person staying at a hotel. Pricey but worth it. It is a bit removed, but being on the island helps set the atmoshpere that you really are removed from thother wolrd issues and hassles. It is my wife's favorite place we have ever stayed.

When in Waterford, stay at Waterford Castle
By CatherineM, 7/14/06
Waterford Castle was a wonder, from the small raft that transports your car across to the island where Waterford Castle sits, driving up to the ivy covered walls of the Castle and hiking around the wooded island. Waking up in the morning a mist hangs over the island and gives you the feeling of being transported to a fairy land. Sighting fox, deer and other wildlife are a daily occurance. The meals in the dining room were fabulous, and all the glassware was from the Waterford Glassworks. Everyone we have recommended Waterford Castle to has felt the same and thanked us for the recommendation. When in Waterford take advantage of living in history.

A nice splurge, but beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/06
This was the one planned splurge in our vacation. We've always wanted to stay in a castle. It is a beautiful place. The room we started in was gorgeous and large. The bathtub was big enough for two. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and helpfull, for the most part. Breakfast was lovely, but not included in the price. The grounds were beautiful. When we came in, we felt that the room was a bit warm and mentioned it to the bell boy. We opened the windows and got ready for dinner. The dinner was lovely and romantic, with a live piano player and then we played a game of chess in the lounge. On our return, we realized that the bed turning service had closed the windows again. Now this room was so hot, that after a couple of glasses of wine and a long, large meal, I was having difficulty breathing. They finally offered to move us to a different room, after realizing the thermostat was broken, and one of the two fans they brought into the room wasn't working. This was almost midnight. Unfortunately, we were downgraded (!) to a room on the ground floor, with no windows in the bathroom, wall paper peeling, which ended up being just as hot as the first one! Yes, I am aware that things do happen in an old castle, and the person kept apologizing, and as much as I felt bad for complaining, in the end, a person needs to be comfortable. I also feel that, for the amount of money that they charge, they could afford to keep the utilities up-to-date. In all, we tried to make the best of it. I just wish we had gotten there earlier in the day to be able to enjoy the grounds a bit more and have dinner earlier. Do not stay in the "Brown" room.
