Ebb Tide Motel, Seaside

I can't believe some of these reviews! Yes, if you're looking for a high-class, high-frills hotel, the Ebb Tide is not the hotel for you. If you're looking for a quaint older hotel, right on the Prom and within walking distance of EVERYTHING? The Ebb Tide is a cheaper alternative to the high-priced other hotels. It's not a Motel 6 in the least. We have come here for the past four years and, other than the lack of wireless service on the side of the hotel we stay on (the lobby has perfect signal and a big comfy couch!), we have never had any complaints. This place gives you that quaint seashore feel, without all the pomp and circumstance (and high cost!) that the other hotels in the area will offer. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Our stay here was highly disappointing. The rooms were very dirty and outdated. The bathrooms had black mold. The promised services were not available. The continental breakfast was unavailable. The Wi-Fi did not work. The staff was rude. Overall, I would never come back or recommend this place to anyone.

We had a two for one coupon and when we presented it to the desk when we checked in they would not honor it. We were charged the same as two nights. When I asked her why she had no reasonable explanation. Just said that is what it was! The room was run down and smelled like cigerattes,even though it was non smoking. the staff is very snotty and rude. It is their way or no way. We will never go back. there are lots of nice places to stay in Seaside. We don't need them!

This is an older hotel with a great location. It is right on the beach and the boardwalk, but not on the main drag which can be noisy and crowded. It is a reasonable distance to walk to the main street with all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are older but they're perfectly clean and the beds are just fine. We've always stayed in one of the two buildings which seem newer across the street from the office and the regular motel. They're nice and big. Here's a tip - don't book the kitchenette room unless you really need the stove, they don't have the best views. All the rooms have a refrigerator and microwave I think. The Ebb Tide shows its age a bit, but the prices can't be beat for beach front and the size of the rooms. The office staff is a problem - they're not "hospitality professionals" that's for sure. We've never had a true problem, but checking in and out it is something you have to endure. We booked way in advance one year and got a really low rate. The desk person had to go in the back and ask if it was okay to check us in! (the answer was yes btw) We're staying there for the third year in a row for the jazz festival in 2011. We always call and confirm our reservations a couple of times though.

Likes: oceanviews, promenade walkway, bedroom spacious and comfortable. Nice mini fridge and microwave. Able to rent DVD's for room. The front desk service was fine. Dislikes: Long black hair in shower, some mold on the top of the ceiling that needs to be removed, bedroom next to walkway where vending machines are. Kinda noisy after you lay down to go to bed. Recommendations: Great to walk on the beach and promenade and seeing all the people walking-by. Would recommend for overnight only not an extended stay kind of place.

I was given 12 hours to cancel my reservation, called within the time frame to cancel and was treated as horrible as I have ever been treated. The "clerk" was rude, obnoxious and threatened to charge me no matter what I had been told. Then, proceeded to hang up on me after a declaratory "your paying"!! May be a good location for the money, but no one should have to be treated that way.

We were terrified after reading some reviews of the Ebb Tide after booking for our weekend in Seaside. I even called around to other hotels to see if I could get in at the last minute for a good rate. I can't believe I even worried about it, this place was terrific, and budget-friendly, considering the place RIGHT NEXT DOOR wanted over $400 a night for a room. Seriously. We stayed here for 2 nights well under that amount. The rooms are clean and well-appointed, but no-frills. Yes, the place is older, but so is everything in Seaside. Yes, the staff seems to smoke a lot, but not right in front of your door. (They should be corraled to the back somewhere). The pool was great, the staff was friendly, even after a harried day where some of the cleaning staff was absent, everything was to our satisfaction, and we will be returning for our next Seaside outing.

I had stayed at this hotel before and I loved it then, and after having a horrible experience at a different place this last weekend, we checked into the ebbtide and loved it again!! affordable prices and clean nice rooms. and we were treated like we were the only people there, I loved it. I think that the old reviews must have had different workers, because they were nothing like that. This hotel is not like a super fancy hotel, but it is nice and clean!!!!

I disliked everything about this hotel. My room smelled like cigarettes and the bed had crumbs in the bed. I asked very politely to get new sheets and/or get switched to a new room and told me I would have to get a room change fee... I have never even heard of something so horrible. They treated me like I was a criminal. Please do yourself a favor and attend a different hotel because Seaside, Oregon is an amazing place.

Service was terrible -- the staff is unprofessional and rude. They tried charging us an extra $400 for a 'broken window frame' that we never even opened. BEWARE!
