Superb Choice in the Mid-Valley
The beds in this hotel were absolutely fantastic. We got a room with two Queen-size beds for ourselves and our two moderately young children, and the beds were huge, covered in a luxuriously thick comforter, and had marvelously crisp sheets. This hotel is relatively new (opened 2001), but I got the sense that everything was in great shape and absolutely clean not merely because it was new, but because the management and staff cares fiercely about taking good care of it.
We found the location great for exploring the Shenandoah valley -- you're within a 40-mile drive by Interstate to a huge chunk of the valley's attractions, excluding only those in the northern end (Winchester/Harper's Ferry) and around Roanoke. The only drawbacks I can cite about this location were that the indoor swimming pool is relatively small -- good for children 11 or younger, but not much else -- and it's about a 6-7 mile drive up the interstate to the restaurants of Staunton. But you can do it in 10 minutes, and then return to a place that's wonderfully quiet. It's also well-suited for exploring Charlottesville, which was barely 20 minutes east. Finally, the staff was very helpful and friendly.
