Extended Stay America Destin - US 98 - Emerald Coast Pkwy., Destin

When my fiance and I arrived to the hotel on March 18, 2011, I really did not know what to expect. I thought I was going to enter a dirty and unkept hotel due to the great price we got for two days and two nights, but I was very amazed. The hotel was clean and we had no problem with our room. We visit Destin the weekend ot 3/18/2011-3/20/2011 because it was my fiance birthday and if we were to return any time soon we will choose Extended Stay again. The location of the hotel was great, it was close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping malls. This was an awesome mini vacation.

The staff at this hotel was very friendly. The hallways, breakfast room, etc were as stated but not exactly the picture you would imagine. For the cheap price its a great deal, but luxury you'd be better off sleeping in your car at Wal-Mart. There were fleas,yes this is not a typo, fleas in our room. Nevertheless, the manager on duty did a great job getting us a better room and everything was smooth sailing afterwards! I would stay again but I would pack Sheets, pillowcases, towels, and lysol spray next time :)

Please do not let the website fool you or let the great "studio" rooms sell you into wasting one penny on this disgusting place called a motel. The pictures of the rooms are very decieving as well as the description givin over the phone. Upon checking in, the first room smelled of filth, items left in the refrigerator, the windows did not lock,table was dirty, kitchen was a mess and the floors were nasty. When givin the key to the second room, upon opening the door, we found the room to be a complete disaster. The beds were not made, in fact the mattress to one bed was nearly laying on the floor, rotton eggs in kitchen, dirty dishes throughout the room and there was food everywhere along with cig butts and a stinch that remained on our clothing after leaving the room to head to our third room. I have never seen such filth! To no surprise the third room had not been cleaned either and we were not even allowed to look inside the door. I can only imagine what it looked like after seeing the last considering it was only getting worse. When finally givin our fourth room, it still had a horrible odor and was nasty although it was stated to be clean and there was no working lock on our door as well as food left behind and dirty linens. After a 14 and 1/2 hour drive we decided to stay not knowing if we could get another room at a different location on such short notice. As I went downstairs to get our luggage, a car proceeded to circle three times before pulling beside my car and sitting the entire time as I gathered my things. When returning inside the motel, I told the hotel staff, she stated she did not know the vehicle and would call the law. A couple of seconds later the car drives by the front entrance and we proceed out the door. She says, " Oh it's just our employees,they live here", when only seconds before hand she had no idea who they were when she had looked at the car with her own eyes. Made no sense to me, it was then I decided that I would search for a different motel. The surroundings were nasty and my family did not feel safe. I am pretty sure that if the local health department were to be called they would exceed the limitations for violations without a doubt. Luckily, we were refunded and found a great motel on the beach. My advice to anyone considering staying here would be don't! Upon checking into our new motel, we threw our clothing away due to the smell that was on them from the great Extended Stay America. An absolute mess! My advice, never stay here!!!! I was only present maybe a total of 1 and 1/2 hours and it had me in tears........

Filthy and disgusting. 1st room they sent us to was already occupied - that was really uncomfortable. Second room the air conditioner didn't work, one of the beds was concave, pillows were flat as pancakes and there were stains on the sheets and blankets. 3rd room at least the air conditioner worked - still went out and bought our own pillows and blankets though. Can't strongly enough advise people to not stay here.

The staff was very friendly. Our room, however, was unacceptable. It was smaller than described and did not have a fold-out sofa as advertised (and as promised by an employee over the phone). More importantly, the room was dirty. It smelled of cigarette smoke, the laminate floor was sticky, the sheets were stained, and there were hairs on the pillows. The night manager offered us another room, which we tried, but it smelled so strongly of urine that I immediately asked for a refund. The refund process (with Priceline & Extended Stay) was a hassle but was resolved after about an hour. Again, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room rates were cheap. But with dirty rooms, dirty hallways, a dirty elevator, and a bed smell almost everywhere, I decided this was not the place for my family.
