Hilton San Antonio Hill Country Hotel and Spa, San Antonio

We stayed here the first week of June 2012. Jon checked us in and he was great, very nice to us and made our children feel welcome. Every night they showed a kids movie outside and had smores for the kids to make in fire pits near the pool. The food was good and the service was prompt. It is right next to Sea World so getting over to it was easy, and they have a shuttle that runs all day. Over all it was wonderful.

The only positive of the experience was Kevin at check-in. He was polite & respectful. Then we got to the room and the items I paid in advance to have there, were not there. After approx a half hour, some of them were delivered. I asked that we receive the rest & a discount for the disappointment. I was told I would receive the discount, but did not. I ordered mac & cheese for my daughter. It arrived an hour and a half later, after she was ready for bed. The mac & cheese was cold and I was charged $4 more than quoted in the menu. The bathroom had bubbles on the floor, possibly from a previous guest having taken a bubble bath. There was no hair dryer. There was not a microwave or mini fridge (even motel 6 provides these). The room was very much over priced for the small size. The carpet was so filthy that my daughter's feet were blackened when she walked from the bed to the desk. The coffee pot did not make 2 cups, but rather over-flowed the first cup & left the second cup empty. The last night of the stay, we ordered a pizza from room service & paid cash; the hotel also charged my credit card for the pizza. There was another charge for over $180 made by the hotel, that was not approved by me. The air conditioner was so loud we didn't want to use it, but the room was so hot we were forced to use it & deal with the noise. Although I am sure there were more problems, these are the ones fresh in my memory & I plan to spread the word that this Hilton is not worth the money & I would never recommended it to anyone, not even someone I disliked! Very sad.

We've stayed in this hotel 3 times now, this being the first time since it changed owners. The only difference I noticed was that the staff is friendlier now! It's reasonably priced, convenient to Sea World, and great for families. Kids like the pool and s'mores in the evening. We will continue to stay here whenever we visit Sea World. The staff was very courteous and friendly, and the room was spacious and clean. The shuttle drivers were friendly and accomodating. Our package included the breakfast buffet, which is always tastey. Texas shaped waffles were at hit. We had booked a courtyard view, but they put us in a room overlooking the parking lot. The front desk apologized and reduced our rate significantly, because there were no more courtyard view rooms available. Our only complaint is that there is a charge for internet access; that's something they should re-consider...

I have to make this short and quick! There are a lot of issues with this hotel. The major issue i have is security. This hotel has no security in the parking lot. It is right off a major highway giving easy access to criminals. I was broken into the first night. (The Hyatt is directly behind the Hilton, and has a guard manned at the gate) The service here is poor as well. The staff is usually put off that they have to serve you. They close there main dining hall and make you eat dinner in the bar. The bar is nice, but the wait staff has to walk all the way back to the other side of the hotel to get your food. This makes getting food in a timely manner nearly impossible. Try that with 3 hungry kids just returning from Sea World. The last thing is the pool. Easily put, it was digusting!!! They did not clean it one time while we were there. And after I had to pull hair off all of my children and myself, I knew i would no longer let any of my family get in the pool. Bees were swarming the pool area, mainly by the trash cans and bar. And this really made the bartender a wonderful person to serve you (yes, HUGE sarcasm). Honestly, if you dont like where your work, dont work there!!! If I could possibly urge any of you to seriously consider an alternative; the Hyatt may be a little more pricey, but I would be willing to pay that to ensure that my car and valuables will be looked after. I will give a shout out to the Head Engineer though. He was great helping me deal with the busted glass and dealing with the repair guy. Had the police not been there the next 2 days for additional break-ins, I might not have written this. But it is obviously an issue with this hotel.

The staff were personable and helpful with local dining options. Our family of four (2 adults, 1 teenage girl, & 1 pre-teen boy) had two King rooms. The rooms were clean and up-to-date with wired internet, and LCD tv, and fabulous bedding. The pool area was not spectacular considering this is touted as a resort, but we did enjoy swimming and it was not overcrowded during the day. The kids loved the firepits and outdoor movie every night. (TIP: The hotel charges $4 for a sandwich baggie of Smores ingredients...a Hershey's bar, 8 marshmallows, and 4 packets of graham crackers. We purchased our own Smores stuff at the local grocery store.) There is a $10 per night charge for a refrigerator, but the extra expense was worth it considering the continental breakfast costs about $12 per person. We bought some juice, milk, cereal, fruits, & beverages for breakfasts and snacks. If you partake, alcohol is expensive. A great perk to staying here is the free shuttle to/from Sea World. It was prompt, air conditioned, and saved us the parking fee at the park. We reserved our rooms through a "Name Your Own Price" website and got a great deal, making the hotel well worth the money. However, I would not recommend paying full price.

We had reserved a ‘suite’ and requested a view with a balcony in our reservation. For $200 a night were told to pick either a view or balcony – we took the view. Upon entering the room the windows were coated with dirt, the view was a terrace of cigarette buts and a can of cheese wiz (apparently from the balcony above). The view beyond the terrace was of a full tree which blocked everything beyond. The front desk moved us to another ‘suite’ w/balcony overlooking the parking lot. Not sure for $200 a night you would think the sofa wouldn’t have stains – towels and shampoo’s would be restocked each day without asking. Even the carpets in the lobby were stained – not sure what has happened to Hilton’s standards but we won’t be back. We drove over the Hyatt Resort and WOW – what a nice, FRIENDLY, CLEAN place – that’s were we will go next time!

It's now under the Hilton Hotel Logo. Everything has been upgraded. The room was spotless. Stay on the 3rd floor if you can. Amy is the housekeeper for this floor. She is so sweet and her rooms are the cleanest in the hotel. Very important for me. Overall, great experience. Will come back.

Booked through Sea World web site and got exactly what was advertised. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly but rooms were nothing special and I have to question the Resort designation. Shuttle is very convenient but use it early. When returning to the hotel expect to wait and don't be suprised if your wait exceeds an hour. shuttles run every 30 minutes after noon. Pools are small and later in the evenings can get very crowded. Breakfast was included in the package and the food was good. If not inlcuded in the package it would not have been our choice though because of the high price. Sea World was great and I would highly recommend the Quick Queue pass if you don't like waiting in lines. We rode all the rides and never waited more than 5 minutes. We used the Quick Queue for the Shamu show and got the best seats in the stadium.

I booked a 3 night stay with the hotel at a special rate advertised on the internet. When I checked out, they charged me $150 extra or the regular rate. When asked, they denied knowing anything about the previous booked rate with them over the phone. I was able to access my intrenet email address and found my confirmation. They reduced my bill by $150, only after I was able to prove them wrong. I am not going back...scary way to do business. Also, 2 day passes to Seaworld are cheaper online than what the hotel charges.

We were actually here on a house hunting trip and my future (current) employer booked us at this Radisson Resort. When we got to this place it was like "WOW". The establishment indoors/outdoors was gorgeous and the staff was friendly. The question I had is why leave? The pools were nice and the outdoor nightly movies (free popcorn) was a plus with the kids, as well as the nightly fire pits/toasted marshmellows. The bar and food was also a plus. We ended up buying a house not too far from the Radisson and actually booked rooms on several occasions to get away.
