Pleasantly Surprised!
By Vye, 08/25/09
Spotted this place while driving down the boulevard looking for lodging. Almost missed hotel, because it’s not on the "beaten path". Staff very friendly, polite and courteous. We stayed in the family room which was clean, spacious and perfect for us. Walk to the beach was more like a "trek" to the beach. But once there it was well worth it. Breakfast was hot and fresh. Great family environment.

Great Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/09/08
I have been back 2x in a row and about to make it a third year. Nice front desk staff. Very hekpful. Yeah, you have to walk to the beach; so are most of the other properties that scream beach-front properties.

Sorely Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/08
Rooms were booked by friends for three couples. I fell ill with the flu on Friday prior to our planned Sunday arrival. I called the reservation service early Saturday to cancel our reservation, as it was clear I would not be able to attend, and I was told there would be no cancellation charge. Other members of the group attended as planned. When our credit card statement was received, we were billed for the room. I protested via phone on two occasions with two different local hotel management personnel, who both promised to research the situation and get back in touch. Neither did. I wrote the owner of Comfort Suites describing the situation and pleaded for him/her to do the right thing and honor the "no cancellation charge" assurance I had been given. I have not heard from him/her either. No attempt to get back in touch, no explanation, no nothing. Clearly, their view is "we've got your money, what is there to talk about?" WOULD YOU STAY HERE?? Never Again
By Lee, 08/16/07
Just got back from what was to be a 2 night stay, thank goodness for tropical storm. We checked in @ 6:30 pm, asked how close was the beach, manager checked us in said 120 yards, not so my daugher took off to take my grandaugthers to walk the beach, when they returned my daugther said it was more than 120 yards, she walks everyday and said it's a walk to the beach, you had to go pass another building that was blocking our view. We had a suite, but it was not a good one they certaining in need of new carpet and the desk chair was broken, and the floor plan? weird, the whirlpool tub /shower combo? internet service couldn't connect. SO THANK Goodness for tropical storm ERIN,we checkrd out the very next morning after we had some of what they called breakfast, the only good thing was the make yor self waffles, the sauage and gravy was cold ,the double toaster, one side burnt the bagel, the other barely warmed the toast. We stayed on the second floor and had a family with a bunch of kids that stayed up all night running up and down the halls until 2:45 am when finally my daugther opened the door and said something to them, needless to say when we when down for breakfast I slammedour door shut and then again on returning for or baggage and the final slam as we left, sweet revenge lol. It certaining wasn't worth the $200.00 a night.

Absolutely will return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/07
After making reservations at another hotel and discovering it was a dump we checked into the Comfort Suites. The hotel is older and they are going to be redoing the hotel soon. The staff was outstanding. We have stayed at much pricier hotels including the Ritz. Neal and his staff went out of their way to help in any manner. Neal even offered to come to the room to help get my lptop working. It was our first trip to Padre. We will definately return to this hotel. Excellent job Neal and everyone there!

Beware ~ Please read it all ~
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/06
Day 1: We checked in at 3 pm and unpacked and went strait to the beach. The walk way to the beach is about 250 yards away from the Hotel. If you bring a cooler make sure you have an extra person to help you carry it. The sand is very soft and cooler wheels will not move through the sand. About 8 pm we had showered and we ready for the kids to start settling down. I sent my oldest son down to the lobby to request pillows. He returned without a pillow and said he was told we would have to wait until 8 am. My husband called down and was told that the maid staff locks the door when they leave and know one in the hotel has access to the pillows! During all of this we noticed that the fold out bed was broken and had no bedding. I was furious at this point and went down and requested bedding, and I was told that after 5pm you can not get any bedding. I requested to speak to a manager and was told that the manager was gone for the day I would have to wait until 9am in the morning. I spent a good twenty minutes speaking with the front desk only for the man behind the desk to end the conversation with “have a good evening” as he turned his back to me. I was able to get sheets for the fold out bed, but was unable to get a pillow or a blanket. Was not a good night sleep sharing a small pillow with my husband so our daughter could have pillow! Nor did my daughter have a good nights sleep in a broken bed. Day 2: At 9 am sharp I again requested to speak with the manager and was told he would arrive at 11 am. I left my cell number and explained the situation with the lady at the front desk. I returned to the hotel at 12:30 pm and the manager had not called me I again requested to speak with him. I stood at the front desk for 15 minutes before he came out to talk to me. The manger of course apologized and said he would rectify the situation. By Early afternoon the staff had placed additional bedding and pillows in our room. By 4 pm no one had arrived to fix the broken fold out bed I went down stairs and requested information on when this would happen. I was told that we would be moved from 408 to 414 down the hall. Moving 3 kids and 2 adults from one room to another is not fun ... we smiled and moved our stuff. Minus the whole punched in the wall and absolutely no water pressure in the shower, we put on a smile and went with the flow. Day 3: We where in and out of the hotel all day and at 3:30 pm my husband went down to front desk as we were leaving and reminded them that our room had not been cleaned. He was assured that the maid staff would be there shortly. My daughter and I returned to the hotel at 7:45pm and our key card to our room would not work, so we walked back down stairs and explained about our card. I told he front desk clerk that I was in room 414 he had a weird look on his face and that is when he told me he assigned another family to our room. This family went up to out room and realized by all of our stuff all over the room that it was occupied and returned to the front desk. I was speechless for the first time in my life. The only thing I could think of is someone else in our room. I returned to the room and made sure nothing was taken and noticed that the maid service had no come to clean our room and we had no fresh towels. I again had to call the front desk and remind them that our room had not been cleaned. I of course was told the he was very sorry but the maid staff leaves at 5 pm and they could only send up towels and a trash bag so I could bag the trash in our room. After cleaning our and taking the trash out I decided to take a shower (no water pressure at all) As I was jumping back and forth from the sink filling cups of water and jumping back into the shower trying to get the soap of my body. I become increasingly angry, I dressed and returned to the front desk and demanded that the manager call my cell phone immediately. We received a full day off of our trip and all extra charges removed.

Misleading Advertisement
By PAUL, 07/02/06
If your expecting a beach property, forget it. It does, however, have a private gated sidewalk that connects the beach, but your in for a 250-300 yard walk past this hotel through an alley, past a condo complex and finally you can see the Gulf. Now, for the bay or partial bay view. I have to admit that I did have a partial bay view. I looked out of my window to the west and hadgreat view of McDonalds golden arches glistening in the sunset. Needless to say, I was quite awestruck. But, looking beyond that, across the gulf blvd., past all of the retail establishments and then a few more blocks was the bay. It could barely be seen from my 2nd story room between buildings. They got my rooms smoking preference wrong so I had to change rooms. It appeared that people had stamped out there cigs on the carpet. They left huge burn holes in the carpet I moved to the 4th (top) floor with an eastern view this time. I thought that, just maybe,I would be able to see the Gulf. By looking between condos I could actually see the Gulf of Mexico. On a positive note, however, the rooms had great high speed internet access. They also had great cable television. The manager was great. He reimbursed my credit card for half my room rate. He was very much aware of the misleading advertisement. I left a pair of $190 sunglasses in my room. I called the day after I got home and the desk clerk checked and found them. It has only been10days but still haven't recieved them. The great thing is that he actually found them and none of the employees walked off with them. That's terrible to say, but this day and time? Honest to God, I wish that I had stayed at the Days Inn by the airport in Harlingen.

We stay there about six times a year for the beach and we have never had a bad experience. The staff is always willing to help at any time.
