This is the place to stay!!
By Michelle, 8/27/11
I had to come in to Councel Bluffs for 3+ weeks to work storm duty after their big hailstorms & needed a hotel that felt homey, but also had plenty of space to work in my room. I initially booked my stay at another hotel online & when I got there & checked in... I only stayed for about 5 minutes! I called all over this city trying to find a hotel that was "smoker friendly" and stumbled across the Hampton Inn. The front desk clerk, Morgan, provided excellent customer service with a smile! He rearranged a few things to get me a room I could smoke in on the 5th floor executive suites and my room was amazing! LCD plasma bigscreen TV, large workable desk, a REAL closet with mirrorred sliding doors, the king size bed... very comfortable. As if that were not enough, Morgan even arranged to have a 2nd desk brought in for my stay, so I now have an office in my room with plenty of space to spare! The rest of the hotel staff has been great too! The breakfast buffett is excellent, the cleaning staff does great work & is courteous, etc. I travel ALOT & wish I could bring this hotel & their staff with me everywhere I go! Nothing but good things to say about them! Definitely stay here if you are coming to Councel Bluffs! Excellent Hotel, Excellent Price, Excellent Service & Great Location!

Great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/06
My son's baseball team stayed here during the little league world series tournament, July 2006. The beds were very comfortable, the breakfast buffet and snacks were great. Our team enjoyed the large open "community" room where we could all gather after games to relax. We also had potlucks there in the evening to decrease family expenses related to eating out. We stayed several days. The staff was really great. On the last day, the staff understood that if our team was beat, they wouldn't go on in the tournament and allowed us to have late check outs which was really appreciated. When I made my initial reservation, I lost my confirmation number and then when i arrived, they couldn't find my reservation or my room. That was the only problem we had. their computer systems are a little out of date and it was hard to retrieve reservations w/o the confirmation number. They wanted us to take a smoking room but my son has asthma and so finally they were able to give us a non-smoking room. I wish they would consider making the hotel smoke free!

Only if you like 2:00 AM parties
We stayed here from 2-4 June, a Thursday through Saturday night. If you like loud drinking parties that begin at 2:00 AM, this is a fine place to stay. When we were checking in, there appeared to be a group of 20-something girls about 2 doors down. You can imagine the noise level and content at 2:00 in the morning. With our 11 and 13 year old girls in our room, about the only valuable lesson we could find in this was an opening for we the parents to stress what not to do when you turn 21. About the only sound we DIDN'T hear was the radio being turned up (though that would have helped). We did what we could: turned on the air handler to high and called the front desk to complain. But I don't suppose you can prevent your clientele from doing as they please up to the limit of destruction and at least this didn't sound like a destructive crew (though we heard one bed being dragged across the floor). A lot of time they were talking, but drinking people SPEAK VERY LOUDLY. After receiving assurances that this group was checking out, we continued our stay for another 2 nights. But, as these nights were Friday and Saturday, it appeared the party would roll on regardless of who stayed there. So, we were treated to the same sounds from neighboring rooms on the next 2 nights. We should have known better than to stay with a casino crowd. I'm part of the casino crowd, but just happen to turn in at midnight and return to a family of 4. Maybe it's the lack of free drinks at the blackjack and poker tables, but the crowd in our hotel tended to move the party back to their room. Anyhow, the hotel staff was great, helpful at every turn possible. There was internet access in the lobby. The breakfast bar was managed by a great lady, who kept things very clean and very much under control. The ladies at the front desk even let us store our leftovers from dinner in their refrigerator. So, our only complaint is with the clientele, not the good people working at the Hampton Inn. We're not religious fanatics. We drink, we gamble, we probably talk loud too and do a few things I can't say. But not at 2:00 AM with neighbors 5 feet away. This stay was awful.

Nice place, good location
By Placid Guy, 11/4/05
This is my second stay in two weeks at the Hampton on River Rd. Like most Hampton's the rooms are neat and clean, more than ample TV channels and PPV movies. Typical Hampton free breakfast, which is better than most chains provide. It's a quick jump from I80 and sits across the river from Omaha. The hotel is connected by a long hallway to the Holiday Inn and the Ameristar Hotel and Casino. If you enjoy playing slots on a permi-docked "boat", you'll enjoy the casino. I, however, liked the restaurants associated with the casino, especially the Water Front Grill - Awesome steaks with a nice wine list. Only down side is they don't have Coca-Cola product (only Pepsi at the properties). There are a dozen or so conference rooms that are accessed from the joint hotel hallway. After the meetings are over, the doors are always propped open, apparently awaiting staff to clean them up. And the service area doors are always propped open, so you get a great look at diry dishes, trash, old mattresses, etc. I've walked this hallway on several occassions, different weeks and nights and it's always the same. Really too bad, as it leaves a bad impression. However, it won't stop me from using this as my new home base when travel takes me to the area.

Nice property
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/04
Very nice hotel. Quiet, clean, comfortable rooms. Complimentary continental breakfast was very good with hot items as well as cold. Good location, could take the casino shuttle with no problems. I would definately stay here again.
