Description

This baronial mansion once housed the city's most read newspaper, The Scotsman. Now a luxurious hotel, it's only the name that reveals traces of the publication's past existence over here. Located close to the Princes Street and the Royal Mile, this hotel is one of the most sophisticated hotels in Edinburgh. The building has been modified to suit modern tastes and is equipped with the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment. While dining at the North Bridge or the Vermilion, nestled within the hotel, you don't have to worry about the calories, as you can always shed them at the hotel's fitness club. And if you've exerted a muscle, then head towards the spa for a luxurious massage.

never again

I spent 4 days in hotel in March 2008. During that four day I have been told ONCE good morning by hotel staff. Five star hotel Scotsman doesn’t greet their guests, you just pass next to reception or concierge and they do not say anything or not even look at you. It was so unprofessional and finally rude. The room was decent even though a bit smaller for the price you pay. If you are lucky to spend a few hundred pounds for the room on the 5th floor, facing the train station you will be lucky to hear some chat of drank people at night. If you want to reach an extra pillow to cover your ears at 3 am, it will not happen because you will get one pillow per person. However it is a nice cotton pillow case I highly do not recommend this hotel and I hope the hotel manager will change something soon because it is embarrassing and humiliating to get such a bad service and treatment. At least they can change their 5 stars into 3 stars.

One of the Best!
By ,
The Scotman's Hotel is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. I have traveled to many places and have stayed in many different hotels, but this hotel was absolutely one of my favorites. The hotel is gorgeous! The serice is wonderful, the hotel staff is extremely friendly and at your service at any given moment, and the location of this hotel couldn't be better. It is between the Royal Mile and Princes Street, the Old Town and the New Town. The rooms are incredible. We had a room on the ninth floor that was outstanding, between its views and the decor of the room, you couldn't ask for any better. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if I do ever return to Scotland, you bet I will be staying at the Scotman's.
