Wedding GREAT! Spa OK! Lodging HORRIBLE!
By BRIDE 09, 10/04/09
We had our wedding at Purple Orchid Inn in summer 2009. We rented both suites for night before ($375/rm) & entire Inn for wedding night (over $2600). Toilet in Morning Dove suite ran all night, extremely loud, enough to disturb joining suite. Also didn't flush so I had to fill it with coffee pot before each flush (tried trash can for more efficient filling but was crusted with coffee grounds & garbage after I took out liner). Reported to INN staff next morning who told me previous guests had also reported the toilet!?! Needed coffee to wake up after little sleep, had to clean grounds and old filter out of coffee maker before making coffee. Breakfast was precooked frozen food that was served barely at room temp and an hour late. My wedding party was getting ready in suite so I borrowed maid of honors rm "Orchid Retreat" to shower. Took 20 min. to shave legs as I twisted under the dribble! Entire shower head was clogged, no pressure ($240/rm). The grounds and scenery are beautiful & The wedding was Fabulouos! Thanks to Jess, amazing event planner (no longer w/ the Inn, sad, she was one of the main reasons we chose the Inn for our wedding). But at end of the wedding (11pm) I went back to suite to use restrm & had to fill the toilet with the coffee pot In My Wedding Dress! Toilet Still Running! I told Jess, who was appalled & called in a favor from a personal friend who came out to fix it. After telling my new husband "Sorry babe, wedding night can't start till the plumber gets here" & all the other stresses, we decided to take a bath to relax (it was 1am & plumber had just left) in the jacuzzi tub for 2 they advertise. My mom had mentioned she had taken bath (they stayed in joining suite night before listening to toilet run- pipes were in wall right next to headboards, was supposed to be our thank you gift to them) & when she drained tub there was a filthy residue! So I made sure to run it several times & clean it first, completely disgusting! White towels turned brown. I took pics it was so gross! But it didn't matter how much I cleaned it, it still looked like pond water. Jess came back to the Inn & turned on outside jacuzzi for us, but we were so exhausted we went to bed shortly after. Worst part was when we told the owner he blamed everything on his staff & acted like any reimbursement was an undeserved favor he was doing for us. After many talks/emails/arguments he eventually agreed to refund a small portion of what we paid, but only if we, our family & our friends never talked about the experience we had & if we lied in a statement saying the Inn & owner were great. We also paid $250 linen deposit to be returned after wedding. After several unreturned emails they sent to Purple Orchid the Rental Co. charged us for a few missing items- totally fine- but should've guaranteed the $250 deposit be returned to us in full! We still haven't received it! (I have read many reviews of Purple Orchid Bride's with the same complaint) The lack of concern, professionalism and remorse for a wedding night gone bad (a night my new husband and I will never regain) by the owner is very unsettling! Purple Orchid is extremely Overpriced for the quality of lodging & customer service they provide!

Sisters Celebrate! We will be back...
By JesseLynn, 02/10/09
My sister and I went to Purple Orchid for my Birthday. To celebrate we each got the Royal Treatment. We kicked off our treatments with amazing facials from Erin took a break with a plentiful an organic chicken salad and organic turkey wraps with a quick dip in the Whirlpool only to transition in to an exceptional massage from Jasmine and Lisa. We were in sisters spa heaven. The Inn keepers were delightful and absolutely I will be back again and again to hydrate my face and relax my bones. Good job Purple Orchid and sissy thank you for an awesome Birthday. PS Can we do this every year on my Birthday! -Lynn We liked everything about Purple Orchid We disliked nothing

The worst Spa experience we have ever had
By Positive, 02/09/09
My husband surprised me for an early Valentines gift, a Spa day at the Purple Orchid followed by lunch. We arrived half hour early as instructed, after not being able to find our reservation, they told us to wait in their lobby and someone will come to get us. As our appointment time approached, we asked if someone was going to get us and they said just to walk over to the massage room. We enter the room (a couples side by side massage), the room was less than 65 degrees, in the middle of February! The Masseuses come in and ask if we were "ready", we told them no one told us to get undressed (normally you are catered to the max at Spa facilities). The apologize for the miscommunication, ask us to undress and get under the "thin" blankets. The room was SO cold, especially without our clothes and the masseue had to apologize for "cold hands" while we were being massaged in a 65 degree room. Needless to say it was the coldest, most uncomfortable spa experience of our life. We couldn't wait for it to be over and when it was done, we decided to walk over to the private bathroom (without robes since they did not supply us with anything) to take a hot shower and wash off the oils, we found that there was no HOT WATER!!! They forgot to turn it on! We complained to management that this experience was the worst we have ever experienced (I have a sore throat the next day due to the cold environment) and he took off a hundred dollars off of the bill. We didn't even want to stick around for lunch since we were shivering. I don't wish this experience on my worst enemy, highly disappointed, glad that the manager took some money off of, but it was NOT worth the $140 that we did pay, it was hell!!! I will NEVER recommend this facility and will go out of my way to talk people out of visiting this place. I had heard such wonderful things about it, only to find it to be a big waste of money and time (had to get a baby sitter for that "romantic day" which turned out to be a visit to Hell Spa. Do NOT go there, it is NOT a Spa experience anyone would want to have.

In Response to "Unhappy SanFransico" posting.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/01/08
In Response to "Unhappy SanFransico" posting. I was very hurt to read this posting on trip advisor. I recall you and your party clearly. First off i would like to start by saying my name is Jennifer and I was working front desk when UnhappySF and her friend came in for spa treatments on Friday 11/14/08 . I was very honest and straight forward with them both well in advance. I had two massage therapist call in sick that day and alarted all spa clients whom would be effected by this. I had called her guest whom booked and i told them excatly what happened. I had asked them if they would like to reschedule and they said no they live far away. I then asked them if it would be okay to move their treatments down to 3:15pm. They had agreed. They arrived early b/c they were at lunch and I offered them a complementary glass of wine which they declined and had orange juice instead. I was very sympathetic with them both b/c I understand their frustration. But I did the best I could. When they came to pay i asked how their experience was and they enjoyed their massages. I was very disappointed to see your posting say a dislike in the service. I was very professional and honest from the beginning.Just to clear the air they did not wait for 2 hours I had moved their treatments down 2 hours which they agreed to do.

BIG disappointment / BAD experience. Spa was short of staffs. Waited more than two hours of scheduled time for massage. NOT worth the $$$ & time at all. PAID big $$$ for BAD service.

Wonderful Wedding & Stay at the Inn
By BrendaG, 09/16/08
We had our Wedding here at the Purple Orchid & cannot say enogh how much we Loved the entire stay, the way Jess conducted our Wedding Ceremony down to the fine details of Chivari Chairs, Table overlays & Champagne Glasses & Floral arrangements. The DJ & Food was terrific. Even our uncles had fun laughing & talking with Matt their Innkeeper till late at night. Thanks again for making this a wonderful experience for our Family & Friends. You guys were awesome & relieved a lot of our apprehension & trepidation we had months before leading upto the event.

Fantastic Experience
By Debbie S., 06/22/08
We recently had a chance to visit the Place last month with our Girlfriends. We found the Owners to be very friendly & they went out of their way in offering little extras like Free Wine, SPA essentials to one of our Birthday Girls who was with us. The SPA Staff was very polite. One of the Ladies in our Group just had a Wedding there last month and could not stop praising what a wonderful experience she had with her Family and Guests. We would definitely reccomend this neat little Jewel tucked away in Livermore.

Brides & Customers Beware!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/08
My fiance and I booked the entire B&B for our wedding party 9 months before our wedding. We gave them a deposit check of $1495 and they cashed it two days later. Almost 6 months later the owner left a voicmail for me stating that he needed to confirm my address because he was sending me my deposit money back because they had reserved the room for someone else. When I called back to discuss the situation, thinking there had to be a mistake, the owner was rude, inconsiderate and never even apologized or offered to do anything for us at all. This man does not deserve to own a B&B. He has no regard for his customers at all. Please do not give him your business and definitely do not trust that he will hold your reservation. If you look at other reviews, this is not the first time he has done this and I am sure not the last. My fiance and I plan on taking action. Please email me if you have had the same experience through this place.

Needs help !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/07
It could be such a beautiful place, if they could use real plants instead of plastic and silk ones. The bathroom in the lobby is clean but they have filthy towels hanging, you can tell that they have not been laundered in a while. The grounds are beautiful and nicely manicured, the views and surroundings are very relaxing. Unfortunately my facial was done by the worst facialist(she had an Ukranian accent or something like that) hard to understand. I am sure with a little more care the place could be better than it is now. At this time it is not worth the money.

Don't waste your money at this spa!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/07
My friend's treatment was supposed to be an hour massage and it lasted only 30-35 minutes. Our other friend didn't enjoy her massage, and my masseuse was okay, even though she was a bit sore and weak from the repitition. Some other women, who had a lunch package, didn't recommend it either. Your money is better spent in San Francisco or Napa.
