Great location.
By Discerning, 11/2/09
Convenient to everything. We never got our car out of the garage. Comfortable, well appointed rooms. Nice lounge, including outdoor seating. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Restaurant has good breakfast but plan on going out for other meals.

Will not stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/09
We traveled to Charleston for the first time and when we travel we usually stay with a Marriott Hotel (Ritz Carlton and Farfield Inns are our favorite). We choose Renaissance Hotel. We expected to receive wonderful customer service for the nightly rate of $180.00. Our first impression was from the Valet/ Bellman, Charles. He was very friendly and very professional. The room was nicely furnished and decorated. The room was also clean... BUT, the bed linens and towels were not what I expected for a "4 star Hotel". They were without a doubt the type of linen that one might find at a 1 star Hotel. The front desk staff and concierge were both rude and unprofessional. We will not return to this Hotel. We checked out of this hotel to stay another one down the street that was wonderful and the customer service was impeccable. The King Charles Inn was very nice and recently renovated. Their night rate was VERY reasonable. In todays' economy, I expect better service from places that take want my hard earned money.

Perfect Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/09
It is right smack dab in the center of Downtown Historic Charleston! Nice hotel & within walking distance to all that's going on! If it just had a little more to do inside the hotel (ex: arcade, gameroom, etc.

One word - AMAZING!
By Brittany, 5/12/08
I was absolutely impressed from the minute we pulled up there was nothing more the staff could do for us. The staff was very helpful and every time we saw a member, they would ask if we needed anything. The bed was by far the most comfortable I had ever slept in away from home. It made it really hard to get out of bed in the morning for the short walk to local shopping and dining. We parked the car and did not move it until we left because everything was so close.

Excellant! The staff was so nice!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/4/08
Everything was so great! I work for United Airlines, and Marriott gave me a great employee discount! Since we all travel so much, we spread the word, where we are treated the best! We have a saying...we live champagne lives on beer prices!! This was definately the champagne life! Thank you Marriott...I love CHS, and will be back at the Renaissance! Shirley IADCG

Great Stay
When we visited Charleston, the Renaissance was perfect. It was conveniently located about a block away from King Street which has all the shopping and restaraunts. It was also generally close to just about everything else so we only used a car to get to the airport. It had a wonderful view over the city and we could even just barely make out the outline of the big cargo boats as they came and left. The room and hotel were very clean and the beds were especially comfortable. The staff was also very nice. We plan to stay at the Renaissance for all our future visits to Charleston.

Terrific Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/07
The hotel is just a short walk from the market shopping area. When I write short, I mean about 2 normal city blocks. The hotel has parking in a garage across the street for $10 per day. The parking was convenient. The hotel's rooms are relatively small, but furnished very well. The bed was one of the best I've ever slept in. No complaints about the room at all. There is a nice gym on the third floor as well as an outdoor pool on the third floor roof. The hotel has six floors and we were on the sixth floor. The view from the hotel's six floor was not terrific as there are other buildings almost the same height in all directions. The hotel is 1/2 block away from King Street which is a very popular shopping area as well. They have a Starbucks on the first floor. The restaurant, Wentworth, did not look upper end. We did not eat there so I can't comment on the food. My wife and I love Charleston and this location was very convenient to everything. We'll stay at the Renaissance again.

A good place to stay
By Sandy, 7/30/06
We stayed here on Marriott hotel points (free). There are better places to stay in Charleston, that's for sure, but it's a pretty good value. - especially when it's free. The only problem was there was a leak on our floor somewhere that they were trying to fix, and the hall carpet STUNK really badly. But they were working on it.
