Hampton Inn & Suites Chincoteague-Waterfront, Chincoteague

Chincotegue was our "sister" meeting place of the year, three sisters meeting up from various parts of the country for a yearly visit. We chose the Hampton Inn because of the promised balcony views, indoor swimming pool and hot tub. What we NEVER expected was the amazing staff that welcomed us with happy smiles and a pleasant attitude at all times! We even spent some time chatting with the staff, each and every one of them were helpful, pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast bar was a work of art, the cleanliness was above and beyond. Our room was wonderful, a gorgeous view of the bay, quiet, VERY clean and the beds were comfortable. We can honestly say that it was one of the BEST hotels that we have stayed at....and we travel often. Although the week was a little rainy, we did get some beach time in and came back to a wonderfully clean hot tub and swimming pool. The work out room was great too....overall a great experience!

Easily the best team of professionals I've ever witnessed at a hotel. We were actually thrown off by how nice the staff was, tough to come by these days. From the desk staff to the cleaning crews, everyone was polite, friendly, and very accommodating. We chose to pay a little more for the Hampton because some of the other hotels in the area seemed run down. Glad we did. It was well worth it to spend a little more for the service we received. Rooms are in fine shape, beds were comfy. Great position for sunset views from the private boardwalk out back, or from a room with full bay view. Continental breakfasts had a good variety, including make-your-own Belgian waffles, and the dining area is attractively decorated, with a great view of the bay. The Refuge Inn might be the other most comparable hotel in the area, price-wise, and their website is very deceptive compared to the reality of their accommodations. If you've looked at that website, I can assure you those pictures are very deceiving. It was a big disappointment on our first trip to Chincoteague. There, we paid a lot of money for a very average hotel. Their private herd of Chincoteague ponies is actually a couple horses penned between their parking lot and a McDonalds, and to see the horses is kind of depressing. They're penned up next to cars and their exhausts, and walk around acting liking Pavlov's dog when they hear the treat machines doling out dried corn. The contrast between that place and the Hampton is drastic. Next time I go to Chincoteague, I will use the Hampton Inn, where I know I will be getting good service in a well-maintained business.

Comfortable rooms, and it may be nice if you have a bay view room, but overall over priced and over rated. Ok pool. Not family friendly. Will definitely not return.

Very professional and great customer service. It was off season yet didn't get the idea that I was not extremely welcome and treated very well. The breakfast is nice too. Nice beds, nice pillows

I was actually surprised how nice this hotel is given that it is a chain hotel. The rooms were clean, the continental breakfast great, but best of all is the view. Our room was waterfront so coming back to the hotel and sitting out on the balcony overlooking the water felt like a luxury. There is no outdoor pool, but that wasn't a problem for us. The indoor pool was great and open until 11:00 p.m. I liked Chincoteague but the area to me feels somewhat depressed to me for a touristy location. The seafood is awesome. We enjoyed Chincoteague Inn mostly for its view. It was a great end of summer vacation stay. I highly recommed the Hampton Inn if you want waterfront non-BB hotel. BTW, the lobby has wireless internet and a cable hook up in the rooms. I have a good wireless notebook adapter and had no problem getting internet while sitting on the balcony.

I am a frequent visitor to the area. I've stayed at many of the inns and this is by far one of the best two (the other one is the Refuge Inn). Feels new, with the cleanest rooms and soft beds. Friendly staff. Free Internet. Dinner included + continental breakfast. Very "homey" feel for a chain style hotel. You pay extra for the better views, but the cheaper parking lot-view rooms are quite large. It does cost more than other places in the high season, but most of my travel occurs in fall and spring when rates are around $75 -- which is still a deal for this place. If you're single or a childless couple, then stay away from this area during the summer -- Families are EVERYWHERE -- visit September through May.

The hotel is situated in a good place on the island. Although the hotel looks good from the outside be prepared for some unexpected headaches when dealing with the front desk agents. The General Manager lies and when we checked in totally changed his story from what was previous agreed upon. If you are coming to the island I would suggest staying at another hotel where the staff is friendlier and will accommodate your needs.

We had a great visit. The hotel is beautiful, sensational view, very courteous staff. Felt very homey. It was the most comfortable bed I've ever been in. They keep the breakfast full until the time that it is over. Coffee anytime. Just wonderful

This was our first trip to the island and we can't wait to come back! The hotel was very clean and quiet. Great water views and near to almost everything. Breakfast was super, especially being able to sit out on the veranda. The kids loved the pool and hot tub. Staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to be sure not to miss! While on the high end of the price scale, it not more than you would pay in any tourist area and the quality of what you get is definitely worth the price! Would highly recommend them! I can see why they are the #1 Hampton Inn in the country.

Hotel is overated.Nice location but very costly. Will not return.
