We will be back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/09
The service was great. The room was very comfortable. The people were very helpful and friendly. They arrange for us to be taken to the Trolley Tour right from our door step. The Savannah Smiles bar near by was great--great piano players--lots of fun!!

one of the worse hotels I've stayed at
By Ray E, 02/13/09
upon arrive, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean but very basic; the room was humid but we thought nothing of it since most hotels only use the fan when the room is unoccupied- we turned on the air- medium then went to bed. The room never cooled, we turned the air on high and it still never cooled and the humidity remained very high (about like it was outside). The TV was out of color and the shower curtain would not stay closed- or open to one side, the rod was bent and the curtain now hangs over the toilet. I felt these MIGHT be excusable until I asked about checking out eary because we were unable to sleep due to the high humidity and warm temp in the room. The front desk apologized and questioned why I didn't have engineering come fix it last night (I assume she must have felt it wasn't that bad if I didn't complain sooner) I was told I would have to pay a early cancellation fee. I then informed her about the vomit in the elevator when she explained it has been there all night. When I asked her to repeat that, she said "well, it's been there for about two hours, we'll have house keeping clean it up when they arrive in about an hour." I don't know about you but I can understand equipment failing but for someone to have an attitude like that- it's too gross for me to clean up but my guess can put up with it... that is not a hotel I care to stay at nor my customers or co-workers/management. Think about that next time you plan to book there.

Great Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/12/08
The room was large, clean and comfortable. The location is excellent for historic downtown, no need to drive. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The rates are a little high. There were no ghosts. The room service coffee is too costly. Get the free coffee downstairs.

Not so Happy St. Patricks Day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/08
I stayed at this hotel during St. Patricks Day weekend. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. I will try much harder next year to stay at the Hyatt again. The Front Desk staff was rude and did not care about the fact that we had problems with the plumbing in our room. They also gave us the wrong room to begin with. If you have a problem with this hotel all you need to do is contact Corporate and they will refund you. I would not stay at this hotel when they are busy because they cannot handle the pressure.

would go back and recommend to friends
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/08
My daughter and I went to Savannah without much preplanning. Our first stop was the visitor's center where the Doubletree had a table set up...great off season rates were offered. We made our deciscion and are so glad we did. The hotel is under renovation but it did not distract us except for our first feelings on arriving at our room...construction workers on our floor and new carpet smell...which we quickly realized was not that bad. Great new beds in the room, room was clean and staff responded to any request quickly. Everyone was friendly and helpfull especially front desk and concierge. Didn't use our car once so we were glad it was parked safely away under someone elses care. Location of hotel is ideal. I saw one review about the homeless people in the adjacent park and that is true, I was going to take my coffee out there one morning, but that is not the Inn's fault that is a city wide problem.

Great Location! Don't order room service!
By sheilakel, 01/28/08
Location was great, but room service food was the worst food we have ever had. From canned cheese to burnt toast and buns. Also our furniture in our room (poster bed and Table) were about to fall apart. Dirty Glasses were in the bathroom. We complained about our neighbors constant screaming and yelling with nothing really done about it. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hampton Inn on Bay Street. For the money the Doubletree and the Hampton are not even in the same category.

Ghostly Delight
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/08
On the 3rd floor of this otherwise peaceful hotel, spirits coexist with the living although not always in absolute harmony. Beatrice is the name of the female who served as the spirit guide on behalf of my paranormal investigative team, Savannah Association of Ghost Enthusiasts (SAGE). She led us to a room with a sordid history of murder and unspeakable horrors in room 310. Orbs, growls, floating furniture and an unforgettable EVP experience were only the tip of the iceberg. I strongly recommend this hotel. Happy ghost hunting! Gerald
