Best kept secret in Manhattan!
The Library Hotel is a small boutique hotel who's theme is of course a library! Situated a block away from NYC library, (who's guardian lion's Patience and Fortitude greet you as you glance down the street from the hotel's main entrance), this extremely clean, well decorated and professionally staffed hotel is the best kept secret in Manhattan!
Each floor's theme is a mimic from libraries all over this country, ie., History, Art, Science, and each of the rooms per floor are a subset of the main topic with such varied choices as zoology, ancient history, photograpy, logic and even paranormal science.
Food and beverages are available 24/7, with a continental breakfast and an afternoon wine and cheese reception included in the price of the room. The staff is professional and very attentive. Although some of the rooms are a little small, the beautiful decor makes you feel so relaxed and pampered that it becomes only a minor issue. Its central location makes is the perfect base for ventures out into the differing sections of the city. Train, subway, bus and taxi service are all within one block of the hotel, something we appreciated after a long day of walking and shopping.
The only dissappointment was with the restaurant, Brazzini, and that was probably because we didnt eat there. The menu wasn't varied enough for our tastes and when we wanted to eat at the hotel we wanted a more relaxed atmosphere.
But maybe we're just a little too fussy, and its not a big enough issue to keep away from this wonderful hotel the next time we travel to the big apple.
