if any delay since no landing at pearson between 3.30 and 6:30 am you'll be delayed till 6:30am-thats what happened to us
we had a long delay and terible wait at crummy varadero airport
by the time you reach home extremely tired cranky and up for 24 hours without sleep
we were only notified of delay at last minute by inconsiderate cuban hotel staff

breakfast eggs and omelettes good
pool nice great for all ages but boring
saw volley ball net once
entertainment medicore repitious
rely on guest participation to make fools of themselves on stage
rooms ok air conditioning very noisy
beach great not enough umbrellas
staff great and polite good service
saw rat twice in dinig room-not kidding
last few days anxious to get home
extremely bad food. Both of us have had stomach cramps and the runs since the second day. Dining room not air conditioned so eating is a totally uncomforable experience.
Entertainment is the same every night which relies on the guests making fools of themselves. I also watched the bar staff wash the glasses by running them under running water and using their hands to wash the rims. Any wonder we are sick. The lock fell off our patio door, the phone did not work, we had no hot water the first day.
The high point was seeing what the maid would go with our towels. Last but not least don't go for a massage without an escort!!
myself, partner and 12 year old daughter visited cuba for the first time on the 27th june2005 for 2 weeks, this hotel is not a 4 star hotel, despite been a communist country they could do better, food very repetative, very bad with mozzies, rooms smelt of urine and damp,1st room was ok but we had to move due to hurricane dennis staff very friendly birds a problem in the eating area the beach is excellent must see the sunset it was fab, havana is a must see if you go to cuba, dolphin delight was ok but a boring 3 hr coach journey then we found out that there was a local dolphin arena where you could swim with them so shop about before you book any trips with the rep in our case it was thomson the rep steve was ok after the hurricane which by the way was very scary the electricity and air conditoning was a problem, but the staff were fab in preparing for the hurrican which was a catagory 5 as told to us by our rep,it surley was an experience, but we made some good friends from canada and huddersfield i think i will visit cuba again but not yet and i would not take children to cuba, one the weather is too hot and the 2nd is the mozzies, its hard for an adult to cope with mozzie bites and i dont mean just a couple i mean hundreds i have got a very bad infection on my leg due to a mozzie bite so how is a child supposed to deal with them but despite all this the riu turquesa is an ok hotel if you want a basic standard holiday ,but i would not go to the riu turquesa again but i would go to varadero again, but a different hotel, next year we will try florida or mexico
staff was great! Very friendly too...
The beach was incredible the best part of the trip!
Food was your basic hotel food... but really who goes there for the food??? Entertainment was nice! We were 3 girls and we absolutely loved it!!! We are definitely going back next year!!! LOVED IT!!!
The whole experience of Cuba, for the first time visit, was wonderful. Tour guides, staff, location, foods, beach, etc. The only difficulty that one might encounter is the walk for the bus into Varadero. For us it was not problem, but it might prove a hard-ship with tourists that have a problem walking. Looking forward to a return vacation.
i stayed for two weeks in riu turquesa and i thought it was great! the food was lovely plenty of choice and fresh salad you could have pasta customly made for you ! there was a snack bar by the pool with stuff like pizza and chips all cooked fresh and the pool itself was great nice and big with plenty of sunbeds to lounge on!
the beach was lovely the sea clear blue. the weather was gorgeous aswell.
i would recommend this hotel to everyone.
i had such a great time!
