Worst Nightmare!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/05
First time I had to leave a hotel after first night. My family and me arrived from a 10 hours fly journey. I frequently use this hotel chain in Europe and even I've preferred hotel card. However, I didn't stay never in a so noisy room. I booked for two Club Level rooms, one for my wife and me, and the other for my son. Although, I did the reservation more than two months in advance and central reservations promised me to be both rooms in the same level, in the checkin they just said it was not possible. I also had committed in writen, an unrequested upgrade to Junior Suite, it was also not done, with the excuse that they didn't have this type of Club Level rooms. Anyhow, this is nothing compared with the nightmare of spending the most horrible night in our lifes. All type of noises, taxis, ambulances, police, firemen trucks, everything together like there were into our room. So one complete night in blank. I moved to Sofitel hotel the following day, because at Westin NY were not able to give a solution. I recommend nobody to go this hotel, and in case you go, don't stay in a coner room below level 15 facing the street. Amazing, that these Hotels are permitted!!

Full Metal Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/05
This hotel was wonderfully located, views were good and the staff was helpful. The rooms and lobby were so ultra-modern as to be rather cold. The metal door leading into the bathroom and the stainless steel lavatory was rather off-putting. Not very comfortable. The bed, however, was wonderful. The location between 8th Ave and Broadway was great -- wonderful restaurants on 8th and anything else you could want to do in close proximity.

Great digs!
By gail, 10/1/05
We really enjoyed our visit in New York thanks to this hotel. It was a bit pricey, but well worth the convenience. The rooms were large, clean, and the staff helpful. There are also a ton of great bars around to stumble back from.

Pretends to be a trendy hotel
By JJ S, 10/1/05
The exterior architecture of this place is the only thing that's even mildly interesting. This is nothing but a corporate hotel posing as a boutique hotel hoping to nab unsuspecting tourists who don't know better. Where it fails worse is in its service. The management and staff are about as unaccommodating and rude as the New Yorkers outside. On the outside, though, these personality traits lends to the unique character of the city. On the inside, it leads to a bad hotel experience. The service was so disappointing, and the staff so unhelpful that we actually packed our bags and left shortly after we checked in. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, and have NEVER had to do that before.

Shame the hotel isnt as beautiful as the city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/05
I thought the hotel was nice in general, thought the staff were un-friendly, and seemed like robots behind the desk. The room was lovely, but were changed twice to different rooms, even though i booked months in advance. The hotel is expensive, a basic breakfast costs $30+(just steps away $12)and the mini bar, well it aint cheap, a jar of nuts...$9, go to the shop and get a pack for $2 and a soda will cost $4. Paying $400+ a night gets you a bed thats pretty much it. If you have kids, well to keep them busy in the room the nintendo costs $9 an hour, and yes it does add up. Also the computer to check your e-mail, it will set you back about $6 for 15 mins, so go across to the internet cafe(beside Madamme T) it'll cost just $1
