Bacara Resort Spa, Goleta

my husband and I frequently eat at the Bistro when visiting in the area.The Cesare Chicken Salad is perfect.Almost everyone leaves with a doggy bag. great service and the view is spectacular!

Lunch at the Bistro and dinner at Miro way way less satisfying than prior visit under old management. The staff confessed to us, they have drop many food supplier and they also feel quality is going down to make the operation more profitable.

My Wife and I stayed a few days at Fess Parker's Doubletree in Santa Barbara and then moved over to Bacara. It was like going from night to day. Not only was our room cheaper at Bacara but we had a hell of a lot better ocean view from our room. The service was equal to and in many ways better than Spanish Bay which the Wife and I really love. The food at the restaurants was amazing. The rooms were spacious, the bed comfortable and the grounds were impeccable. We have decided that we will always stay at Bacara whenever we go to Santa Barbara, which is once a year. The staff was very helpful and very willing to accommodate all of our requests. Some people may not like its location but it is really quiet which is nice because at many of the other hotels, you get all of the city noise. Besides, everything in SB is less than 15 minutes away from Bacara. The spa was amazing and you can use the facilities each day without having to pay extra. The gym rivaled 24 hour fitness. I cannot explain just how great an experience it was to stay at this hotel and I look forward to our next visit.

Bacara is a great place for those who are looking for a nice relaxed California resort experience. We like that it is set off the beaten path in Goleta. The hotel is quite lovely, but those looking for a true 5 Star experience will find that it comes up short. . Despite a few shortcomings we find Bacara is quite fine for our "getaway" needs and we have gone on several weekend trips here.. We find it to be the perfect romantic getaway spot...and the Santa Ynez valley is only about 40 minutes away for wine drinkers. The Spa is very nice, and the granulated hybrid clay tennis courts are great for tennis players....while the gorgeous Sandpiper golf course is next door.

A little hint for travelers...bellman work for tips..fork out some cash every once and a while, and your service will be excellent.

I think the waitress actually left during our meal since we never saw her again. Someone else ended up taking over after about 40 minutes. Food was OK - not very memorable.

I was excited about visiting the resort and the restaurant. I looked at the online information and it seemed beautiful and exciting. My boyfriend and I were travelling from San Diego, staying a few days in Santa Barbara and were driving to the resort for a nice relaxed dinner. We arrived and the resort looked better than I imagined. It was beautiful. We walked into the restaurant. I was not that impressed. Dinning and wining are two of my greatest passions in life. We were sat down. It took about 10-15 minutes for someone to approach our table. The server apologized and he procedeed to ask us if we wanted a drink. We mentioned that were really hungry. The server took the drink order and someone else stop by our table to offer some bread. The bread was cold and tasteless.Twice we asked for some olive oil. I guess third time is always a charm. We were then given menus. Creativity is not their forte. My boyfriend is a vegan and works as a chef in a well known upscale restaurant in San Diego. His options on the menu were dismal or none-existant. We mentioned this to the server and ask him to talk to their chef. Most restaurant have vegetables and we assumed that he would be able to come up with something. Our assumptions were incorrect. Before I go any further I would say that the whole meal was extremelly expensive and LOUSY!!! $85.00 for 2 salads??? The total bill was $263.00+ tip I had never had a salad that expensive and tasteless. We had to hit a taco shop and paid less than $15.00 dollars total for 2 whole meals. It's safe to say that we will never stay or dine at the restaurant again.

I have to say is it was the worst time of my life when I stayed here. It is very expensive, the rooms are dirty, the staff is very rude, and the food taste distugsting. Do not stay here!Only one good point - the location is nice!

The actual grounds and hotel is beautiful. The pool was also relaxing and the service around the pool excellent. All three restaurants in the hotel are not up to par for a five star hotel. The food was acceptable to not so good, and the service ok. We had a horrible experience at the restaurant Miro....The restaurant was fairly empty, yet it took four hours for a three course meal, and there was no atmosphere at all. They were accommodating with my food restrictions but overall not a great dining experience...the bill came out to 800 dollars and I left hungry. Breakfast before leaving was also bad...we were told that there was a wait when the restaurant both inside and out were only half full at best, and then they lost our food ticket so we had to wait even longer to eat. Three of us left with upset stomachs and diarrhea. Not a great way to end a three day holiday weekend.

I loved the spa! the spa receptionist were very nice to us, and friendly. We felt welcomed and helped us with anything we needed, and wanted.
