Don't believe the ads or the pictures
By ,
STAY AWAY! WASTE OF $$$$$$$$ First the ads lie, this hotel is NOT on Seven Mile Beach, and is FAR from all the tourist areas. You will need a rental car as the shuttle service is unreliable at best. Reception staff is rude and gave us false information on 3 separate occasions, the rooms was not cleaned properly -kitchen and bathroom not cleaned . The beach area is under construction - we were told it was "gardening" but I don't do gardening with a back hoe, cement mixer and giant dumpster on the beach. Impossible to swim, large rocks, seaweed washed up on beach and not removed/cleaned, beach full of small rocks. BBQ grills available but none worked. Condo/time share hard sell during visit.

Love the Caymans....
By ,
I love the quietness of the Grand Caymanian Resort. I bought a timeshare and have not regretted it for a moment. The sale and upgrades were not high pressured. I have taken friends and family, I always do Sting Ray City which can be booked from the resort. No one has been disappointed that has made the trip. Abit difficult to find the first time and you definitely need a car to get around but the food is great (and a tiny bit pricey) on this little island. The resort is going to put in a salt water pool and eventually a beach. It is a great relaxing time!

Off the beaten path
By ,
We like the isolation of the Grand Caymanian ... it is certainly off the beaten path. If you stay, I would recommend renting a car because it is quite a distance to anything although the resort does have a free shuttle to the supermarket (but pay attention to pick up and drop off times). The food at the on-site restaurant "Ray's" is excellent & reasonably priced; the rooms and hallways are very clean; the grounds are well-kept. The "beach" -- well, there isn't one unless you don't mind spending the day lying in the sun -- otherwise you will need "water shoes" to make your way into the water because of the ironshore. I wouldn't recommend going just before Christmas since the resort does allow outsiders to have Christmas parties at the restaurant and if your room faces the restaurant/pool, you will be subjected to the noise/music of the party-goers and band, which does go on past midnight. I did find that a bit annoying since I was on vacation and was awakened at 10 PM by a bass thump-thump-thump! That, and the time-share salespeople calling your room at 8:30 AM are my only disappointing aspects of the resort.

Great Stay
By ,
We were there JUne 2007 and plan to go again this June. It is very nice and quiet-like having your own resort. The restaurant and bar area is nice with a great staff. I would get a car if you plan on going anywhere because you are a bit out of the way. Take the boat to stingray city- you will be the first ones there before all the cruise boats come.

I Bought. What Else Is There To Say?
By ,
I liked it so much, I bought a lock-off timeshare on my first visit several years ago. It's a great quiet place to relax away from 7 Mile Beach, but close enough to get there quickly by the resort shuttle or car.

Great place to rest
By ,
I really like the Grandcaymanian for how peaceful and beautiful it is. The pool is a great place to sit and read, or to enjoy a cocktail with friends. We have gone there 2 years in a row now, and love the scuba diving. It is a great value for families, and the staff is one of the most friendly and sincere that I have had the good fortune to meet...

We stayed there
By ,
First thing to realize it is not in walking distance of anywhere. It is so far from the main road you will think the taxi took a wrong turn somewhere. The room was comfortable and clean, however housekeeping is a little spotty. One thing I really did not like is; there is a checklist in your room outlining everything that is in there which you have to take inventory and return the first day, if you don't and something turns out to be missing they will charge you for it. However they do not tell you any of this so look for the list. The restuarant is more of a highend cafeteria and it will not take you long to get bored with it (the chicken wings are good though). The bar staff are friendly and accomodating. The beach is more of a rocky out cropping but I understand they are working on it. DO NOT go to Joe Tourist I paid $75CI for a ring on our last day and my finger turned green by the time we got to the airport.

nice & quiet vacation stay
By ,
A very clean and modern facility that is very well kept up. The location on North Sound is off the beaten path which makes for a very quiet, relaxing place away from the chaos of Seven Mile Beach. Snorkel/dive trips leave from the dock at the resort - very handy! They also have trips out to Stingray City early which makes you the first group there before the excursions from all the cruise ships arrive. Meals at the Blue Iguana are excellent but spendy but spendy applies throughout most of Grand Cayman. Entertainment was good for a resort of this size. A computer is available in the business office at the rate of $3 per 15 minutes. A few minor negatives: The staff is very good and friendly but at the Blue Iguana they are totally understaffed if more than 5-6 people are there. Usually there is only the cook and waiter/bartender. Staff is polite but not overly friendly. Others might find me wrong on this point. Construction was about to begin for a new section of this resort/timeshare so there might be some noisy times ahead.

Ready to go back
By ,
We loved it so much we decided to buy there ..The staff were wonderful. We loved the snorkling and sting ray city. I think the best part for us was meeting new people. Making new friends and enjoying the sun and the sand. The Blue Iguana has the best food you cant pass it up. Everything you needed was only a few minutes away shopping, groceries, beer. George town has great shopping and great people. If you havent gone you should go ..

A diamond in hiding!
By ,
I just returned from the Grand Caymanian. It was so clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The resort was peaceful and I felt so safe there. The beach and pool area were nice. The daily activities were top-notch as was the restaurant. Walking out on the dock you could always see some type of sea life such as starfish, crabs etc. Overall, the Grand Caymanian made my trip one of the best!
