This Mexican-owned all inclusive beach resort really caters to families and this is reflected in their reasonable prices and excellent children's program. For the adults there are a variety of activities including the Sand Dollar Sports for diving or snorkeling. The grounds resemble a Mexican village with unit of 8 placed together under palapa roofs. Most of the rooms are ocean view and all are decorated in bright Mexican colors and furnishings. The staff here are noted for their genuine warmth and hospitality.

Won't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/4/07
We stayed at the Reef Club frm 4/21-4/26. When we got to the resort we had to wait 2 hrs to get in our rooms--we were told repeatedly that our room was not ready. Our room was without water for a period of time for 2 days. The hot water was impossible to regulate-there was no warm--either hot or cold. We were repeatedly awakened during the night by the service cart rolling down the sidewalk. One of our towels was stolen along with our camera. The beach was very rocky--almost impossible to walk on. There was no coffee pot or refrigerator in the room--even the most basic rooms elsewhere have these. We had an ice bucket but the ice machine was broken--so if you wanted ice you had to go to the restaurant--if it was open. The restaurants were only open at certain times and reservations were very difficult to get--even though they did not appear busy-we saw open tables when we passed by prior to our reservation time. The taxi ride into town was $13.00 one way--regardless of where you wanted to go or started from. We were not satisfied with our stay and would not recommend this to anyone.

Don't go with Apple
By Michael E, 3/1/07
We stayed at the Reef club 2/18 through 2/25/07. The service at the hotel was poor. Unlike some other all-inclusives, you are treated as though your money has already be paid and no effort is made to accomodate special requests. Getting drinks involved standing in long lines as opposed to sitting pool/beach side being waited on. The dive shop (Sand Dollar Sports) was excellent and the only treat of the resort. The grounds smelled like sewage at night and morning noise started at 6am every morning with rolling carts. The location is beautiful but the guests were similar to a cruise ship as opposed to a dive resort. Whatever you do, do not book through Apple Vacations on a chartered flight. Our flight was delayed on the return flight and we were lied to in order to get us to check out of the resort early so we could wait 7+ hours in the airport terminal. Just pay the extra and go with a real airline that you can verify flights times online or via phone.

would never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/23/09
We couldn't get two room keys and were told a variety of reasons why. Other guests said they had to ask every day and finally mid way through the week they received another key. We received another key the day before we left. The bathroom was horrible. The sink was cracked, faucets were rusty. The light in the bathroom was broken, there was paper stuck in the light to keep it from falling. When eating at the restaurant we ordered desert. They then asked us to eat the desert outside so they can seat other guests. The food was awful, the service was extremely poor. There were long lines for food and drinks. The staff wasn't friendly. The first night we called for a wake up call and never received a call. The fitness center was disgusting. It was dirty and there were coch roaches on the floor. Other guests that we spoke with were experiencing water issues either no hot water or no water at all. The curtain in the room had holes in it and our door lock was broke. When we checked out no one asked how our stay was or even said thank you. A few positive comments, the spa services were great and the weather was great. We found a restaurant on the far end of the property for breakfast that had great service and the food was better. Unfortunately we didn't find it until half way through the trip. We ended up eating dinners downtown as opposed to staying at the resort. Casa Mission is a great restaurant in town. We would never book with another Wyndham property.

I'd love to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/1/07
This resort was great. It was just me and my new husband and we really enjoyed ourselves. Although we did't do many of the activities there, we still really enjoyed the ones you sign up and pay for. We totally recommend the jeep tours. It was a full day of fun and going around the island. The resort had great service. The employees were great. They tended to our every needs and cleaned our room each and everyday. I would love to go back when possible!! I wouldn't recommend to people if they are single. I noticed mostly families and couples. So if you plan to go to party and meet people, maybe you should rethink it.

A little piece of paradise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/05
The Reef Club was a very nice resort. The place had much to offer and the service was excellent. If you go to the bar be sure to talk to Emmanuel the singing bartender he will hook you up with drinks as stout as you want. The dive shop was also excellent, a little out of the way but the people sure were friendly. I love Cozumel and I if i was to go back I would definitly stay at the Reef Club. I was greeted by a sweet girl who handed me a Tequila Sunrise as soon as I arrived set foot into the entrance. I didn't think I would have as much fun as did because I went with my parents, but I loved every minute I wass there.

Wyndham-You should be ashamed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/09
We were at this same resort in 2002 before it was taken over by Wyndham and it had a lot of problems then, but liking the location, beach etc. we decided to try it again now that it was owned by Wyndham. It was a disaster. The room was moldy, the toilet broken, there was no water in the taps (although the floor had plenty), no plug for the provided (& thus useless) coffee pot, no swim up bar(as advertised) and the beach bar/snack bar was never kept clean(you would almost need to beg for a cloth to wipe your own table) Maintenance came several times and "fixed" the toilet and water problem apparently, and the maids kept mopping up, but the problem was never resolved all day long. The top-off was in being moved to another room(a good one in the Sabor section but very distant from the beach or theatre etc.) My husband accidentally left behind a pair of orthopaedic shoes which somehow never turned up in lost and found - they simply vanished. The best thing about this resort is Carlos and Beatriz from the front desk, but even so, this time I am sure we will never go back!

Better places to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/26/04
We went there 10/2000. Our room smelled horrible -very musty. They cleaned the room thoroughly 2 times but the smell never left. The food was okay but not much variety. We ate in town quite a few times to get something different which was pretty expensive. Most of the staff wasn`t overly friendly. Toward the end of the week, there were more entertainment people around so we might have been there an off week. The main pool was disabled the entire length of our stay which they didn`t tell us beforehand. Snorkeling off the beach was excellent though and the national park down the road was definitely worth the money we paid to get into it. We`d definitely go back to Cozumel but not stay here.

BEST vacation
By MONIKA, 11/4/05
The Reef Club is an incredible place to stay. I was there January 2005 and had the time of my life. The staff was very helpful and entertaining, the rooms were very clean, so was the beach and the pools. Had a great variety of food everyday, I gained 10 pounds it was so good!!! I would recommend this resort to anybody who wants to have a goof time and relax, expecially in the hammocks on the beach!!! Those who wrote a bad review are crazy, unpleasant people. THE REEF CLUB ROCKS!!!!!
