This Mexican-owned all inclusive beach resort really caters to families and this is reflected in their reasonable prices and excellent children's program. For the adults there are a variety of activities including the Sand Dollar Sports for diving or snorkeling. The grounds resemble a Mexican village with unit of 8 placed together under palapa roofs. Most of the rooms are ocean view and all are decorated in bright Mexican colors and furnishings. The staff here are noted for their genuine warmth and hospitality.

Great Time, Great Diving
By ,
It makes me laugh to read some of the comments. This in NOT the states, you are on Mexican/Caribbean time and pace, kick back and relax!!. You can pick the rookies out a mile away! I have stayed all over Mexico and the Caribbean (from 6 star to 1 star properties) and have returned to Cozumel because of it's laid back slower pace. We were here for 10 days this time in mid August. Biggest decision every day was what color swimming suit to put on and whether to go diving!! Staff was excellent, room service was efficient and very good, Plenty of Hot Water, had no problem with any of the food selection.. Hint: Don't go to Mexico and order Lasagna. Had ceviche everyday and lots of excellent guacamole. Still had the salad, soup, bread and desert bar in the main restaurant which I loved. Waiters and staff were efficient and never had any bad food. (some just better than other depending on your taste.) Fish was incredible!! Came in from a night dive and got to the restaurant couple of minutes after they had closed, the manager still seated and took good care of us. The snack bar had a good variety of items that were freshly prepared to order. They were busy working on the empty rooms, looked into several after they were finished and they were spotless from top to bottom. Grounds were spotlessly groomed. Talked to the Management about paint on the outside of some of the building and they said it had been a very wet summer were working as fast as weather permitted. Sand Dollar diving is an excellent operation, small groups, never more than 6 in any of the groups, several boats. Dive Masters and crew work to ensure you are comfortable with everything before you go off the boat. Slow easy dives at all depths. Turtles, eel, lobster and tons of fish every dive. They let you dive at your own pace and keeps a sharp eye on the less experienced people. Laid back, no hurry diving. Hint: buy there package dive deal. You get a card which they punch every time you go and you can share the card!! Bought one card and all three of us used it. A whole lot cheaper and it is good for the next time you come back or give it to a friend) Nice long beach, excellent snorkeling is literally right off the beach. Saw rays, eels, and tons of fish. Bring your water shoes and a fold up floaty. Rented a car one day and went into to town and had a great time walking and shopping. (Check to see how many cruise ships are that day). Afterward we drove around the island and saw thousands of turtle nests on the east side. Couple of good bars and places to eat over there. Lots of other things to do and see around the island or catch a ferry over to Playa del Carmen. Will be back again next year.

all inclusive including gratuities- NOPE.
By ,
we spent the first week in Sept 2010 at the Wyndham. Orbitz said all inclusive including gratuities. Nope. I was invisible at the bar if I didn't tip. Restaurants were closed. Only thing open at lunch was the hamburger grill. Hamburgers and nachos for lunch for 7 days. Bellboy expected a tip to steer me to the ripoff cab that charged $48 for 4 people to ride to the airport. I wonder if the cab across the street could have been hired for less than $48 to the airport. They showed obvious disgust when we didn't want them to take our bags 20 steps with the obvious expected tip. Didn't restock the fridge, Room was ok but not real clean. Charged $3 each person each day to use the dock to get on a boat, yeah right, all inclusive.

We would go back!
By ,
We were impressed.... the room was very clean and up to date. We especially liked the outside jet tub... good for looking at the stars and listening to the waves while you bathe with your sweety. Our room was right on the beach. The food buffet style for breakfast and dinner was very good. Especially breakfast. The lunch bar was great too. Bar was nice and there were usually 2 or 3 guys tending. We never had to wait more than 5 mins for drink or food. The staff was very nice and helpful. The spa was AMAZING! We would go back.

Most of you are scaring me off of this resort
By ,
I’m going in late October of 2010. Very excited, this will be mine and my wife’s first vacation out of the states, and our first resort. All I’m really caring about is that it’s clean, has stuff to do, and that I’m always able to get alcohol. What would be recommended as far as the tours and other things to do?

You get what you pay for - recommended
By ,
Overall great experience. First realize this is a 3-star resort. If you know this before going, no surprises. If you plan on traveling the island, rental car HIGHLY recommend. Take advantage of all the free inclusive activities. Found all the restaurants fantastic. Have read some of the other reviews and found the service to be exceptional. Tipping is greatly appreciated for the employees. We vacationed in early May and MOSQUITO repellent a MUST!

Wish I had read the review
By ,
We recently returned from our trip to Cozumel. Unfortunately we stayed at the Wyndham Resort and Spa with the All-Inclusive package. We stayed in the Sabor all adult section but it was really not much of an advantage. Breakfast was a choice of 1 restaurant(Sabor Only) and the Buffet. Dinner was 2 restaurants and the Buffet. Given you had to make reservations at the restaurants by standing in line at 7:30am or you were out of luck. If you were lucky you could get your mini fridge restocked with, hold on, 2 bottles of water, 2 cans of beer and 2 cans of soda. The latest you could eat was 10pm, latest you could drink at the bar was 1am. I was VERY, VERY disappointed. Totally understaffed, one bartender for a pool area with over 40 people trying to have a good time. If you have a chance to book somewhere else do it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY TO GO HERE.

We have gone back 8 times!
By ,
There are 4 of us (2 couples) that have been to this resort 8 years in a row and I can never understand how there can be such bad reviews. The staff is always friendly, the rooms are always comfortable and the food is always good, you can always fnd something good to eat. One of us is a very, very picky eater and she never compalins about the food! The staff is always very accomodating. I am not sure where people think they are since this is Mexico but it is still a very friendly, comfortable reosrt. How can there be two reviews from the same time frame where one thinks it is absolutely horrible and the other thinks it is the best place ever. If you are thinking of going to this resort, I feel you will get your moneys worth and have a great time. We are going again in May 2010 and staying for 12 days. OUr hysbands do use an outside scuba diving outfit other than the resorts but other than that we find this to be a most pleasant expereince!

Great Family Experience
By ,
We have just returned from our stay at the Wyndham Cozumel. We were somewhat sceptical after reading some of the reviews, but our family had a wonderful stay. The people at the Wyndham were polite and ready to serve. We had a problem with our shower and it was fixed within a half-hour of our service request. The food was more than decent and the drinks were good. We never had to wait in line for anything. The kids really enjoyed their first trip to Cozumel.
