Uncontrolled teenagers screaming in the halls
By Nelson, 12/18/11
I've stayed here previously and enjoyed it but this time the kids were allowed to run up and down the halls screaming at all hours of the night. We are not some old fuddy-duddies but sometime after midnight (after our second call to the front desk) they were literally yelling at the top of their lungs (multiple) in the halls Seriously? The front desk seemed unconcerned. Sorry Grand Key Resort - you get an "F" for this stay.

We'll be back!
By Thomas, 10/22/11
We liked the location because when we wanted to,we could get away from the hussle and bussle of the south end of town, and when we wanted to enjoy THAT part of town, the free shuttle got us there and back, without having to hassle with parking. The pool area was beatiful, and the bartender at the poolside bar was very friendly, making sure that after he made our marguaritas, our little chihuahua had his own "martini"(a cup of water)! We are already planning our return trip next year.We would recommend this hotel to adults and families alike.

extremely satisfied
This was my first trip to Key West. My travel agent recommended this hotel because my funds were limited. I loved the buffet breakfast, the free shuttle from the airport and downtown, and the very friendly and attentive staff. The food was good. The pool was gorgeous and very clean. the musician that played poolside was good until he started to sing. He played very well, but couldn't hold a tune if his life depended on it. I am coming back next year and most likely years after that.

Nice
By Robert R, 9/2/08
The Doubletree is far from the Duval Street scene and beaches. It is located adjacent to other hotels/rsorts. But it is very nice, clean and has a beautiful pool. Using the free shuttle is a big plus. If you take the shuttle, you don't have to negotiate parking your car in Key West. And, if you go out on the town, you don't have to worry about driving back to the hotel. It was our first visit to Key West and the shuttle driver was very helpful in getting us to the places we wanted to go. The front desk staff at the Hotel were equally helpful to us. Our room was very nice.

Great place to explore Key West from
By DonnaM, 5/17/07
Our late check-in was smooth, quick and courteous. Our room was as advertised, clean and ready. The rooms are a bit small but well appointed with all the amenities you would expect. The beds were very comfortable. The buffet breakfast had a good variety. We chose to have it every day before heading out. The dinner menu was not varied enough to come back for when staying on an island with so many options, but the one time we did, our meal was pleasant and presented nicely. The free shuttle service to and from the airport and town were great, on time and very convenient. We only used the beach club pass once because it was not that great of a place to spend a lot of time. The pool area was very nice, clean and open late for those who prefer to avoid crowds. All the staff we dealt with were pleasant and attentive to our desires.

Love this place
By TomD4488, 5/9/07
I travel with a bunch of party girls and we stay here a few times a year. The staff is always courteous and friendly - expecially when we ask for more towels, pillows and blankets. Never a bad stay here. Looking forward to our Girls Memorial Day Celebration in a week or so!

Staff is a Disgrace
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/16/07
Had my daughter's wedding here. We had a great time with family and friends, and the hotel is beautiful, but the business end with the Doubletree was a nightmare. Their expert recommendations for the amount of food at the cocktail hour were way off. After being told it was plenty of shrimp, and plenty of cheese for fifty people, the food was gone in ten minutes, before the wedding party even got there. Half the people had no shrimp or cheese at all, and they would not refill anything. Also, one of the entrees, the chicken, was supposed to be stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella, but was filled with spinach, a much cheaper recipe. Coffee time?? The cups were there, but never filled. This is the first wedding I've ever been to, where they never served coffee to anyone. We got a few hundred dollars back for the coffee and chicken, but they adamantly refused to compensate us for the embarrassment of the cocktail hour. After admitting the mistakes, the GM then changed his story, lying, and saying the ham and cheese were minced into the chicken, and WE should have asked for the coffee. Waitressing was lousy, the ceremony was very poorly planned, and their shuttle was twenty minutes late to the ceremony, (they actually tried to blame us for returning late). I've been treated much better at lesser quality hotels, whenever there was a problem. The GM's hardball tactics and refusal to compensate us for the cocktail hour were cheap and very low class, and very unusual for a supposed fine resort. The Doubletree Grand Key Resort, is a Double Grand disgrace.

Not a 3.5 * hotel!
By RussellL, 9/11/06
Upon check in there was no bell boy...we had to request it inside at check-in, which was inconvenient when you have a child and want to quickly unload your car. There also was no valet in site...In fact, we did not see one during our 3 day stay. We had reservations for a non smoking room, when we got there it reeked of smoke. They changed our room immediately. We were told it was a non smoking floor, but the hallway smelled from smoke, even though our room was OK. The room is very small and crammed with furniture, so it feels very crowded. The toilet would not flush, hardware was broken on the furniture, the bed was not comfortable, the balcony size is ridiculously small, and there was no poolside service in the morning. Lastly, the $10/day parking fee is high as this is not resort and should not be charging resort type fees. On a positive note, the hotel is well priced, the pool area is pretty, the staff is curteous and helpful. They repaired the toilet and hardware immediately upon us notifying them. Although the bed was uncomfortable, I will add that the bedding was nice. I will also add the hotel is child friendly and the pool is set up for kids with a section that is shallow. We will not be returing to this hotel as the negatives outway the positives.

What A Nightmare!!!
By JenM, 8/1/06
We had reservations at the Grand Key Doubletree Resort this past week because we had a function we were attending there Saturday night. Due to a fire, the function got cut short. Turns out it was an electrical fire. Doubletree MAJORLY droped the ball on this one. The staff didn't have a clue what was going on or what to do. Instead of trying to keep the guests calm and help them out, they stonewalled everyone. Granted they'd let anyone who wanted to checkout do so. However, if a guest stayed, they would only get 50% off their room rate. You know what 50% off got you? A room with no power (for 2 days at least), no A/C (in JULY!), and no running water (no showers or toilets)!!! $100 for that?! Thanks, but no thanks!!! It should have been a free night. I'll never stay at the Grand Key again. Not because it wasn't a nice looking hotel, with nice ammenities. I won't stay with them because of the incredibly poor customer service. To me, that's just as important as the comfort of the room. Hampton Inn (also part of the Hilton family like Doubletree) says if you're not satisfied, you don't pay. Why isn't that the motto for ALL the Hilton hotels? The next time we go to Key West maybe we'll stay at the Hampton Inn instead!

Very Nice Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/06
The hotel had a very nice pool and the rooms were nice. The shuttle bus made our stay a lot easier too. The value of the hotel wasn't quite worth it. The food at the hotel resturant was high priced.
