Petra Palace Hotel, Wadi Musa

I recently returned from staying at this abomination and was truly appalled by it. For starters, it was almost impossible to find your room due to nonsensical room numbering and bad signage. The first room I was given had a big crack in the wall from floor to celiing behind the bed and what looked like a very dodgy lightswitch for the bathroom. My second room had a bathroom that smelled like a public toilet, a smell that also permeated the main bedroom. The flushing mechnaism for the loo fell off the wall when I first flushed. In the neighbouring room, the loo stopped altogether, but they didn't seem to think this was a matter of urgency and ignored both my requests to fix the smell and my neighbour's request to fix his loo. The food in the restaurant was bland, and half the breakfast mugs had cracks or chips or both in them. I dread to think what went on in the kitchen. There seemed very little concern for cleanliness, or health and safety and staff were rude and unhelpful. Oh, and if you think mine was an isolated incident, most of the people on my tour also changed rooms and had many complaints about the place too. Stay elsewhere, but never stay here.

2 minutes downhill walking to Petra's gate. Friendly staff. Room was smelly. Not that clean. Linnen / Towls long past their sellby date. Small bed with not so clean bed cover. No amenities in bathroom other than a nonfunctioning soap dispencer Luke war water - never hot Dinner/breakfast - Best you go to the local supermarket for a freshly baked bread creamchees and coffee - cheaper,better.

Just visited in Sept. We eill never use this hotel again! The A/C was miserable, Not enough staff, food, fair, didn't go to a 5 star hotel to for these services. There are much better values in the area.

The location of the Petra Palace close to the entrance of the archaeological site is good. The first impression at the reception was OK, but it soon became clear, that the hotel is run-down and did not get any refurbishment for many years. Carpets have big spots, in our room the mirror and tiles in the bathroom were broken, some furniture was fixed with nails several times, the door lock did not work properly and the bed sheets were too small for the mattress. Instead of orange juice they served orange colour lemonade at the breakfast buffet.

Far exceeds its 3-star rating. Spotlessly clean, superb location, friendly helpful staff and great value for money. Would strongly recommend to anyone planning to visit one of the most spectacular and awe inspiring sites in the world.
