Luxury Food/Spa/w/charm of a friend's beach house
By DennisM, 5/11/09
I loved.... 1) The Chef at the restaurant is amazing. We stayed 5 days and only ate off the property once. There was noplace better to eat -- room service on our balcony several nights of our stay made things all the more romantic. A private dinner on the beach was made even more special by the attentiveness of Ariel, our waiter and Jesus the restaurant manager. 2) The staff was friendly and incredibly attentive to all our needs and requests. 3) The place was private. Hot tubs on the balcony facing the water, the pools, large saltwater spa and beachfront were available all night long, 4) I had the best massage of my life and I've had many. The spa was surprisingly gorgeous. 5) A very chic little european style bar just off the lobby was cool and sexy. 6) From the moment they picked us up in their private boat from the Playa Linda dock in Cancun you knew this was going to be different and exciting. 7) Loved that there are no children guests, so minimal screaming children (see more below). 8) The feeling of being in a luxury hotel with the of staying at your friend's beach house. I brought the wong book (something I'd already read) and found a lovely little book shelf filled with paperbacks from which to choose. 9) Proximity to swimming with the Dolphin's location next door. We got to watch them jump and play all day from the water outside the hotel. Things that weren't so great... 1) The neighbors kept bringing their kids down to play (scream) on the beach and the staff did not want to run them off 2) The beach is not the crystal clear turquoise you see over on Cancun. 3) Minor decor issues. The doors and some furniture appear to be upgraded by insetting plywood -- odd and not consistent with the gorgeously upgraded bathroom with steam shower. 4) The gym does not deserve to be called a gym. Plan on skipping your workout. 5) They bring you around to the boat dock on the back of the property through a lagoon filled with sunken boats & the view of the property from the back is not stellar. Don't let this darken your impression of how well you will be treated and cared for here. I would have been more comfortable had I known this going in. 6) The neighborhood's a bit scary. Stick to cabs. We walked down the block and were greeted repeatedly by everone's dogs (all friendly but a bit frightening all the same when they come flying out of the bushes).

Two visits in three months
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/07
Villa Rolandi is fantastic. My husband used to race his sailboat from Pensacola to Isla Mujeres, and had always wanted to take me there. I found and booked the hotel for my birthday this March. Within a week of getting back home, we re-booked for May - what can I say? - the place is Nirvana - elegant, but casual. The service is fantastic, the location and accomodations are first rate, and the food is fabulous. Our private dive excursion and even an unplanned trip to el doctor in town was taken care of without any fuss or stress. If you go, make sure to arrange for a beachside massage.

What a great way to relax!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/06
I loved this place, and am going back in a few months. The food is wonderful, the beach cozy, the room was very elegant (particularly the marble & glass shower/ steamroom with surround jets), and the wait staff was attentive and fun. I'd highly recommend it.

Perfect Quiet Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/06
We visited this hotel 2 years ago on a business function and there was not one thing we can complain about the hotel. The food is fantastic. It is wonderful to be able to get out of your room to find a jacuzzi, pool and beach all within a 20-second walk! The staff is nice and friendly. We loved the seclusion and privacy. We are planning to visit again last this year for a milestone birthday celebration.

Great Honeymoon Destination
By StephanieJ, 1/8/06
We loved the fact that we were away from the party nightlife of Cancun. When I tell people that we went to Cancun for our honeymoon, they think we went there to party. I then explain where our hotel was. Total seclusion. We loved the staff and food. There were a few things that bothered us once we got there. First, it wasn't explained to us that the private boat would only take you to Cancun and back, if there were other guests scheduled to depart or arrive at the hotel. You couldn't just schedule a time for the boat to take you to Cancun. You could pay for the ferry. Also, in the morning, they would bring you the complementary breakfast and put it in a cabinet that they could access from the outside hall. Then the staff would keep knocking on the door until you gave them a tip or until you put the "do not disturb" sign on your door. To me a tip is something that shouldn't be demanded. With that in mind, the maid that came by every evening to offer clean towels or a turn down service would keep knocking on your door all night until you answered or until you put the "do not disturb" sign out. For honeymooners, this might get a little irriating, especially when you want to be left alone. Other than those few complaints, I felt it was the great escape we needed after the wedding.

A Great Moment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/05
On Nov 1 of last year we rented a golf cart and found your hotel by mistake. We feel in love with the view and wanted to have dinner there. It was a special date for us and we had dinner on your beach area. The service and the staff were fantastic. They did every thing to ensure it was the most romantic evening ever. Now it is one year later and Bob and I are coming back to the Island and this time it will be for our honeymoon and we both felt that this would be the perfect place to celebrate. Look forward to being there again. Sandra and Bob Bandy P.S. We also have a picture of us having dinner there that we would like to share.

Great Honeymoon Destination!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/22/05
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and absolutely loved this hotel. It was very elegant and romantic from beginning to end. We loved the ride on the private yacht to the hotel and the jacuzzi on our balcony was an added delight. The service was outstanding and everyone was very friendly. Eating at the hotel every night was an extra treat especially with the wonderful view of the water and the lights. I would recommend this hotel to all newlyweds and can't wait to get back to celebrate our anniversary in the future.
