Extremely Disappointing
By ,
The beds were so soft that both my wife and had a firful night's sleep and woke up with backaches in the morning. Eating facilities at this hotel are scarce, and breakfast food was not availble after 11:30AM. There is no buffet in the hotel, and what food there is is overpriced. We realize that it was Christmas day, but even so, the service in the food court was poor - our son had to wait 165 minutes for Russian dressing and I had to wait 10 minutes for tuna salad. Even the casino staff seemed to be novices - they could not make the correct payments at the craps table, The reception desk had only two people working, and the same line for checking in and checking out. There was nothing positive in our stay, including the low price of $39 for the room, that would induce us to stay at this location in Foxwood. We have had favorable stays at Pequot and feel that MGM certainly is not of the same quality.

Small Room
By ,
The room was beautiful and nicely appointed with excellent beds, but it was too small with no place to watch TV except from the bed. There was no table and chairs to sit with coffee or take-out food. We had to sit on the bed with our food on our laps. Hence, it is great for sleeping and showering but rather too expensive for only that.

Do not eat at Juniors!!
By ,
My wife and I stayed there this past weekend and had breakfast at Juniors. We had a good meal until it was time to pay the bill. I had ordered French toast with a side of eggs, my wife a bagel. She had some of my eggs and they charged us for a full entree of eggs rather than a side of eggs because I shared with her. The eggs went from what should have been $3.00 to $11.00. After disputing this bill with the manager and general manager and listening to their absurd excuses and lame attempts to justify their reasons for doing this, I vowed to never go back there again and share my terrible experience with as many people as possible. Beware ... Juniors is only in it to take your money, not to service their customers. I unfortunately have to rate the MGM as average because of Juniors ... otherwise it was Excellent.

Good trip... Better Mattress
By ,
When we arrived, since we had booked a produce suite at $415 per night, we were promptly greeted and brought over to the VIP check in room. I wasn't expecting this, so that was nice. Our first impression of the room was incredible, we stayed in room 22116. The pros were as follows, the in-room whirlpool bathtub and seperate shower were both amazing, and the mattress was the best thing I have ever slept on. The view was also great. We had come to mgm to see sugarland and let me tell you the concert was awesome. I have yet to hear a better sounding theater. Now, the cons. We ate at Alta Strada which was awful. Service was great, I hated the food. Call me a snob, but I was expecting authentic italian, we got this new-age no-pasta italian. Which may be beyond me, but I hated every bite. I wanted some Chicken Marsala, or some delicious ravioli. When I asked about the ravioli, the waitress said that its different than traditional ravioli, ours is made with spinach and cheese, but no pasta. Its more of a "naked pasta". Which pretty much left me saying, "So its not ravioli?!". Anyway, lost my shirt at gambling, and otherwise everything was fine/good. I would probobly go again to see another show, and maybe try eating at craftsteak.

Eh...Has it's ups and downs
We just spent Labor Day weekend at the MGM Foxwoods and had an ok trip. We checked in around 6 because of horrible holiday weekend traffic, and had to wait in line for a while, but this is expected for a holiday weekend. The EXTREMELY pricey room was right up our alley as far as design, being modern...and catering to a younger 20-30ish crowd. The bathroom was awesome a huge shower...but did not have a bathtub which was kind of a disappointment. The king sized Sealy Posturepedic (euro pillow top - i checked out the label) bed was awesome. They also had a mattress pad on top so that added to the experience of the whole bed. I was really upset by how thin the walls were. From about 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. we heard blasting techno music through the walls and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. While taking a nap on Sunday afternoon one of the people checking the mini bar just walked in our room ...apologetically but still was kind of rude. The casino was small...surrounded by very swanky high-end shops that who knows can actually shop there. But a definite pro was the food....as it was incredible. Craftsteak was a wonderful experience. All in all I would give it 3 stars....because it's too pricey, not a whole lot else to do other than gamble and walk and look at the things you can't afford! I also agree with someone else review about them sending you to exit 92....on the way home i navigated and understood why they did that when you passed the beautiful Mohegan Sun. Will try that one next time!

Terrible Experience
By ,
No refrigerator, no bath tub, no safe. A dirty shoe from a previous occupant in the room. Reserved a single king sized bed, received 2 queens. Room was very small. TV very difficult to navigate. Wireless internet worked 30% of the time. When I voiced my displeasure, I was offered a pen. I have emailed the MGM Grand 3 times since my return home, and have received no response. I was there on business, and after staying at the Grand Pequot at Foxwoods last year, expected more.

Don't rush to get there
By ,
Not much fun. The dealers are unfriendly, even though I was tipping them regularly one even complained about how poorly he was paid and how he had to share the tips with the other dealers. I was there to have fun not listen to someone complain. The MGM casino is small. The MGM hotel rooms are also small, the decor in the rooms is pretty blah nothing special at all. You pay for a lot more than what you get. I would not recommend this hotel and casino to family or friends or to anyone for that matter. Very disappointed. I hope the MGM corporation got paid very well to have their name associated with this less than average place.

Not for kids
By ,
the place looks nice and looks expensive, but something needs to be done with their security and how they handle problematic crowds(since they still get clients with kids). service was not to brag about and do not go with high expectations like we did, not really worth what we paid for. not to be recommended for people with kids because clients tend to be the young and single, so people do get out of control after a couple of drinks here and there.

What happened to Foxwoods (and driving tip)
By ,
My wife and I took a drive up I-95 from the south and were totally shocked that MGM/Foxwoods directions have you going all the way up to exit 92. In this day and age of $4.00+ gasoline you would think they would provide the shortest route to travel. Head north on I-395 then take rt.2a - much shorter. (Now that I think about it... the reason they send you all the way up to exit 92 off I-95 is so that you don see how easy it is to get to the Mohegan Sun) The employees thoughout the establishment seem very disgruntled. I gather there are mass lay-offs on the horizon. Foxwoods used to a be a fun place... now it's doom and gloom... and they want you to take the long way to get there. Not going back.
