Hidden treasure!
By DW, 11/23/09
After a week at a Scottsdale, AZ resort my husband and I wanted to see the Grand Canyon. So we left the resort early and hesitantly booked a room at the Cameron Trading Post; not knowing what to expect. This was a better place and a better time had by both my husband and me than the entire week at the "resort". The rooms were very clean, plenty of thick bath towels, lots of space and comfortable furnishings in a beautifully native american designed room. All of the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. If we ever go back to visit, this will be the destination for our stay. Thank you to all the staff!

tourist trap
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/09
Very convienent to the Grand Canyon. Given a room that was spacious, but air conditioning was deafening! And very far from the designated "dog walk area", which is right next to the highway and full of trash. This is a "destination" nothing else around for miles. I should have continued on to Flagstaff.

This is what an OASIS feels like!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/09
As part of our Grand Canyon vacation I booked the Cameron Trading Post because it was close enough to do both rims. I AM SO GLAD WE CAME HERE! It is clean and the rooms are HUGE. The beds are comfortable, towels fresh, and the AC is quiet. When I say we, it includes two adults and an 11 year old boy. The motel more than meets all of our expectations (free wi-fi at speeds suitable for WOW impressed the gamer). And the Trading Post itself has this art gallery that is more like a museum. I spent an hour just looking at all of the beautifully crafted items (many over one hundred years old). A walk through the garden brings you to the fountains and a very peaceful space to just relax - even if it is 106 degrees, it feels cooler here. I will recommend this to everyone.

This Hotel iis Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/09
This hotel is terrible. Do not waste your time going here spend the extra money and stay at one of the hotels next to the Grand Canyon. The showers are awful the water simply trickles out. We where suppose to have a garden view but instead where moved because they had a bus come in. This was after we had showed them paperwork where we made reservations 4 months in advance. The room we did get had no ac and it was 95 degrees. we complained about that and they said they would have someone fix it, we get back that night and the room was a little cooler so we left the ac on cool and went to bed we wake up the next morning the room is 85 degrees and the vent is blowing out heat at that point I turned it off and tried to open the windows and the windows where broke and would not open. By far this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in I was very disappointed.

Just stopped for fuel!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/09
After spending the day at the Grand Canyon, and planning to just drift back home to Colorado after a Christmas stay in Tucson, we stopped for fuel at The Cameron Trading Post. After a quick look at the gift shop and resturant we decided we might like to spend our New Years Eve here. One look at the room and we were definetly going to stay, the room was large, immaculate and well decorated (unlike the room we had spent the previous night in)!! After freshening up a little we went to the resturant for supper where we were again pleasantly surprised. The dining area is beutiful, with the pressed tin ceiling and the antique pharmacy cupboards surrounding the walls full of rugs and pottery and other artifacts. The fire in the huge fireplace along the west wall was just good gravy for the rest of the dining and was even more pleasant the next morning when we ate our breakfast in front of it. After our breakfast we explored the trading post grounds, bet it is beutiful in the spring and fall in the garden areas and along the gorge! All of the people we had contact with at the post were very friendly and helpful, we especially enjoyed the girls at the resturant for supper and breakfast. Unfortunatly the gallery was closed, but it gives us a good reason to stop in for fuel and a place to stay when we are drifting towards home or just decide to take off on a road trip. Well worth the time/money and highly recommended!!!!!!!

MAKE SURE TO CONFIRM YOUR ON LINE RESERVATIONS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/08
We had an online confirmation for a room on September 25, 2008. When we arrived to register we were told by the clerk that there was no room available. We were informed the reservation had not been entered in your system so the room had already been rented. I do not know if this was factual or not. We were informed there was only one such room available but it was a smoking room. This was not acceptable for health reasons. The clerk did not offer any other alternative such as finding us another room somewhere else in the area. As a result we had to continue our trip to Flagstaff. We were looking forward to staying at your facility as it had been recommended. We are disappointed with the service and will consider alternative accomodations in the future.

Charming, but...
By Cherie, 07/08/08
Pros: - Beautiful surrounding landscapes; peaceful and quiet with wide open Arizona skies. - Really cool gift shop with tons of unique and great stuff - Good restaurant food, homemade quality. Cons: - Er, well, the water's yellow. I bathed in it but was afraid to drink it. - It was a nonsmoking room but there was still a cigarette smell to it. - When I awoke with a debilitating sinus headache in the middle of the night, (partly from the cigarette smell), in desparate need of pain medicine, the lobby was closed. There was no one to help in case of emergency. - The nearest hospital or pharmacy is literally hours away. Kid review: Yellow bath water, no pool and no good channels on tv.

Very clean newer southwest themed rooms. Beautiful! Wonderful food. The Navajo taco is huge! Its made with Navajo sweet flatbread... just mouthwatering.

Pleasantly Suprised
By Katherine, 02/15/08
What an interesting place. We were so happy to finally get there after our long day of driving. The room was immaculate, the restaurant was great (the helpings were huge!), and the grounds were beautiful. I would recommend staying here if you are traveling to the Grand Canyon, especially since its the only thing for miles........
