Excellent value and proximity to the beach!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/09
The room was clean and quiet, and was very contemporary with fully equipped kitchen. The beach was only one block away. I am amazed how low the cost was. For South Beach, this hotel is a diamond in the rough. I will definitely stay here again and will recommend to everyone.

We got lucky!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/08
Not sure how it happened, but we ended up in the Penthouse and loved it! There was plenty of room for us four chicks and all our stuff after crusin the Carribbean. The location is outside of all the action of South Beach, but only a $5 cab drive to it or a 10 block walk. Close to the beach and fun to watch the cruise ships come and go. PH4 had a killer outdoor terrace that we enjoyed so much. We only wish we could have stayed longer! We will be back!

Fell in love
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/08
Yes true to some of the reviews it is not the best in miami by far but for the money it is well worth it. i stayed in the delux suite with my girl and we enjoyed ourselves. the sushi bar down stairs was perfect and the location next to Prive and Opium gardens two of the hottest clubs in miami was great.

Before you sleep here
By Peter M, 02/23/08
The location was excellent. Service was helpful. Accommodations were excellent. Pool and hot tub were sweet. Restaurants at the ground level are outstanding. Expensive internet access, though. Here's the real problem- We had booked a room that wasn't abutting Collins Ave, and unbeknownst to us, this room was switched with one which was. We couldn't tell when we took it as the view was blocked by palm trees (conveniently?). So all night, instead of sleeping, we were kept up with the sounds of car horns and cop sirens and people yelling. Alllll night. It sounded like the windows were open, but I checked- they just don't insulate any sound whatsoever. Which was probably a contributing factor in me getting sick the next day with bronchitis, which ruined my entire vacation. Hence the 2 star review. I'm still a little bitter. If a fabulous hotel provides everything BUT a good night's sleep, it's totally missing the point. If you're over 25 and plan on actually sleeping at this hotel, MAKE SURE YOUR ROOM IS NOT FACING COLLINS AVENUE!! Then you'll be fine.

Loved it!

Great find. I went on vaca with 4 other couples and every one of them was jealous. We had a suite for around $200. Good location too

Sleep with a Dumpster?
By Amy, 11/06/06
Our room smelled like dumpster after turning on the AC. They refused to move us and said they would help do something about the smell. They never came. We had to beg for towels multiple times. The rooms look warn and sad. Many folks in our group complained of noise due to the night club right next door, you might as well have been in the club.

Not really worth the money.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/21/06
I initially reserved a deluxe suit, yet was happily surprised to have received an upgraded to a pent-house. But it really wasn't up to par with the standards I had for even a deluxe suit. The problems began as soon as I dialed the hotel operator after only minutes into my stay, when I noticed my room was not equipped with bathrobes. No one answer even after waiting patiently for over 10 minutes. Next the lights in the balcony were not functioning so logically I called the hotel operator which was not answered, therefore I made my way down to the front desk. Yet that did nothing because the lights were never fixed. Next I decided to soak in the hot tub outside which had a broken head rest which mockingly floated along side me as I desperately tried to relax. Honestly the only good comment I can give on my stay at the Mercury Hotel was the greatly comfortable bedding and wonderful location.

Worst hotel experience of my life
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/08/05
First let me tell you that it doesn't take much to make me happy. Within the first 90 seconds of entering the room, I had to call the front desk to fix the sliding glass door which broke when first opened. The shower was an absolute nightmare that only sprayed/dribbled scalding hot water. The towels and robes had never been washed (the tags were still on them!). There were as many lightbulbs burned out as there were working. On the second day when requesting replacement towels, we were informed that there were none available, however two damp ones were later provided. Upon check-out the valet brought our car out to space where we got a parking ticket as we loaded our bags. Not what I would expect when paying $235 per night for an executive suite. I will never stay in this miserable excuse for a hotel again and recommend you find another.

Beware!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/07/05
This hotel has great potential, but does not come any where meeting it. It could be an upscale, boutique hotel but it's lack of maintenance and detail make it fall far short of the mark. The price is low, but the old adage, "You get what you pay for," truly applies here. Look before you jump!

Best resort on the beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/05
Great location in south beach, close to the beach, shopping, great restaurants and of course the nightlife. I was satisfied with the overall experience... Best resort on the beach
