Priceliners & Drivers....BEWARE!!
I pricelined this hotel for $45/night for two nights and was really excited about the deal and the location. Knowing Chicago traffic can be a nightmare I allowed extra time to make my way through only to find that there are no immediate signs for the parking garage, just valet at $44. You'll be lucky if you can make it in and make sure to drive a small car since their valet space is less than tiny. Granted it's Chicago and it gets pricey to park, but the fact that the valet fee automatically gets tacked onto your bill is so not okay with me. The hotel's welcoming book in the room states that the hotel will validate self parking for $26, but it's actually $29 AND they conveniently DO NOT tell you that you have to park in their specific parking garage that has no sign on it for you to know it's for the hotel!! At the check in I'm told that I'm only booked for one night and then they realize that Priceline booked two nights separately and get told that in the morning I have to come down and have my keys reset. We get to the room to find that the bathroom wasn't really clean and the refrigerator had not been cleaned out from the previous customers. I did not complain since I was running late for a dinner meeting and instead cleaned out the fridge myself. The next morning I get the keys reset and think everything is fine only to come back in the late afternoon to find that the room was not cleaned. Now, that wasn't a big deal, I could call for towels later and can make my own bed, but the simple fact that it's a Hilton family hotel, the little dramas getting in and dealing with key issues and the worst...the valet bills start to add up. So, we leave for dinner and come back to a clean room and later a bill for valet that supposedly was cleared only to find on my bank statement that it was not and after making a call a week later it's STILL not refunded. How can they just ASSUME you used the valet service? What if you flew into the city?! My brother called the front desk the day we were checking out to ask for an extra 30 minute check out allowance only to be berated by the person who answered and then badgered with questions as to whether we had used the valet and how we had paid for the hotel stay all in an effort to see if we are frequent, high paying and spending guests. This was especially unacceptable and overly offensive since while I understand that hotels are like casinos, they cater to high rollers, we are guests that deserve the same amount of respect and catering to after all that we had already gone through being there. But since we used priceline, the rude counter woman decided we weren't good enough for an extension. She ended up telling him, after a long, drawn out pause and ridiculous sigh that she "guessed" we could have the extension. While my nice brother was actually going to thank her, she hung up on him instead, mid-sentence. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Don't stay here or at least don't park there without knowing all the real deals. The pool is ridiculously small and the hot tub a joke even for Chicago.
