Deceptive! Not pet friendly!
We are from Virginia . We picked this hotel because according to hotels. c o m, they are pet friendly. Upon arrival, the desk staff thrust a contract upon us with a stipulation that read 'you cannot leave your pet unattended in the room'. Since it was New Year's Eve, we had little option but to sign the contract. There were no other rooms available in the area, and no pet rooms in particular. We wanted to go to dinner, but obviously you cannot take your dog into a restaurant. We left her in the room. She does not bark continuously by nature, although she does bark a couple of times if someone walks into the door. Two doors down from us, there were two small dogs yipping CONSTANTLY(and they are still yipping as I write this) and a room beyond that two LARGE dogs barking as well. Keep this in mind - our dog is a 9 lb. poodle and she sleeps most of the day. We were waiting on a dinner reservation last night when the hotel called and said there had been a complaint about our dog barking, and we needed to come and get her unless we wanted to be kicked out. This was at 8:30 pm on New Year's Eve. Aside from the other dogs, there were several rooms having parties all up and down the hallway. People yelling and screaming and music so loud you could hear it coming up the elevator. How anyone could hear a tiny dog barking once or so is beyond me. We came to collect her and guess what? We did not hear her barking. Not in the elevator, not in the hallway. We decided to put her in our vehicle while we ate. Once again, we were back waiting at the restaurant when we received A SECOND CALL from the valet! Apparently they don't want to be 'liable' or whatever. By the way, the hotel's valet service is $35 a night. So once again, we had to abandon our reservation on New Year's Eve - in New Orleans - to get our pet. It was late enough at this point we knew we'd never get in anywhere, and besides, someone would have to stay with our dog. We ended up going to Subway instead. We took her with us to see the fireworks so we were out of the room for several hours. We returned at 1 am. Exhausted from walking back and forth so many times, we went to bed. At 1:40 AM - WHILE WE WERE ASLEEP - the front desk called. They had sent a security guard to our room because someone had called several times about our dog during the evening. Our dog that had been with us all night, and was at that point curled up asleep. I have never been treated so poorly at a hotel, EVER. Aside from the pet issue, which as I mentioned is very misleading, there was no shampoo or towels when we arrived. That was a pleasant surprise while trying to shower. We caught the maid and she said they were 'out' yesterday. Okay,...at any rate, we're paying $3000 for two rooms until the 6th. There is no way to enjoy ourselves now because we cannot leave our dog in the room. We would not have traveled 900 miles with our dog if we had known that this would be the situation. We're still here, looking for another hotel that will let us keep our dog in the room while we're out. I don't understand why we were singled out with the gratuitous noise going on everywhere last night. We have taken our dog with us on trips many times and we have never had this problem. The only positive is that it is close to Bourbon street without being directly on it, so if you are petless it's okay. Just don't expect any towels, shampoo, or amenities. Addendum: My brother's girlfriend caught the valets talking about us when she came out to put her things in our vehicle. How unprofessional is that? If I disparaged customers IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS AND STAFF I guarantee you I would be fired - and I bet you would too. I seriously cannot believe how discourteous everyone was at this hotel. Oh, except the maid staff. They're very affable.
