Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea, Amman

I expect a 5 Star hotel to BE a 5 star hotel and am willing to pay for a 5 Star experience. I am NOT willing to pay 5 star prices for at best a 3 star experience - which is what the Movenpick is. This is a huge facility, located on a hill. The easiest way to get around is by golf cart - except few were operational when I visited. There is no concierge - although there is a "guest relations" desk - unmanned, most of the time. The room was clean but in need of updating. Towels were thin and stiff. No bathrobes or slippers provided. The room service menu is basic and unappealing. My room was near the bar area with music blasting until midnight. A 5 star hotel would have sound proofing. The beach area is small and rocky. No plastic shoes are provided to navigate the rocks. The refreshment area at the beach is a joke and there is no service staff. The bathrooms basic. The staff is not friendly or helpful and provide no orientation to the property. One is given a map and expected to find one's way. The reception area is not well staffed with long lines. I noted to a staff member that this must be an unusually busy time. Her reply? "It's always like this" - If so, why do they not have more staff to accommodate the lines? I had to wait 1 hour for my room - and did not get the room I requested in my reservation. I had requested a room with a private pool. I was told I would get a "special room" - in fact was down graded - with no private pool but was not told this by reception. I was given a "junior suite" which would be comparable to a standard Four Seasons Room in size but that is where the comparison ends. The servi-bar was not well stocked and the temperature of the fridge set so high, the drinks were warm. You have to call room service for ice and are charged for it. The wattage on the reading lamps by the bed is so low it was impossible to read. There was no overhead lighting. No DVD player in the room - no movies available. Limited movie channels on the TV. No iron or ironing board. No one-hour pressing service. I finally found the hair dryer - tucked away in a drawer outside the bathroom. This chain needs to manage customer expectations and understand that if one is accustomed to and is used to the standards of a real 5 star hotel, the guest will be extremely disappointed. I would never recommend this to any of my friends. A Holiday Inn would have provided a better experience at 1/4 the price.

the food, the location, the service was fast and easy, the cleanless of the rooms and bathrooms. i had fun time at night in the sauq walking by the seashore. The thing i wasn't comfortable is the heat it was very hot.

perfect place to relax. More than a hotel or a vecatin place, it's really a resorce of relax and health You can be a lone if you want, and you can have lot of friends around if you like. You can choose to be left alone ore to discuse with all around you.

I visited there last month, it was one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The staff was very nice and friendly, Mr. Ghassan Arab meet us agroup of 100 people and check us in it was smooth checking in and very nice, also the staff of the hotel they were always very helpfull and brought to us what we asked for , which was a nice touch. The facilities are spotless, not dirty at all. There were always clean linen and dry towels at our disposal. The dining is fabulous. The brunch was just superb, not one bad thing to say, and I can't wait to visit in a couple of weeks.

I visited there two years ago, it was one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The staff was very nice and friendly, they were always washing our rental car so that when we wanted to drive somewhere the dust wasn't all over it, which was a nice touch. The facilities are spotless, not dirty at all. There were always clean linen and dry towels at our disposal. The dining is fabulous, a little expensive for there but along the lines of what Americans are accustomed to paying for fine dining. The brunch was just superb, not one bad thing to say, and I can't wait to visit in a couple of weeks.

I stayed there at the moevenpick hotel and I couldn't have been more pleased it was probably one of the best hotels I went to. I can't wait ot go back!!!

We spent three nights here in January 2008. The location and buildings are excellent. However, the service we received was poor. In particular: 1. We were put in a very noisy room overlooking the main road. 2. The shower hose sprung a leak and, despite reporting it twice, nothing was done. As I result, we could not use the shower. 3. We spent time and energy chasing missing items such as a pillow case, bathrobes and bottled water.

The staff are just friendly, the location is perfect, and the buildigs are just Jordan
