I HEART THE W IN SAN FRANCISCO, CA.
Guest service, comfort, innovation, consistency...I can continue to count the many ways I love the W Hotel in SF. This is the best bang for your buck when searching for upscale hotels in Frisco. I live approx. 15 miles away and I stay at the W when a night in the city is called for. Don't go anywhere else....unless of course you're looking for rooms $10k and up...but the W is still an option. LOVE THIS PLACE...YOU WILL TOO!

There is this Fire Station!
By Elizabeth D, 5/26/08
We had a great 3 day stay here but could not understand the endless fire sirens until we walked around the side of the hotel. There is a fire station right next door. You will listen to sirens round the clock. Ask for a room on a high floor! The rooms are great--we especially enjoyed the illuminated Buddha statue in ours. The waiters in the lobby bar are very good-as were the drinks. We didn't find the lobby staff as attentive or helpful. There are times when you just want to take a cab instead of walking. We were repeatedly told that destinations were only a 15 minute walk. That's great in tennis shoes--and horrible in heels. The Bliss Spa is exquisite--one of the best facials I've ever had. Overall, the W gets high marks.

The new decor is awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/08
I have been staying at the W for some time now on gift show stays and really love it...good location to moscone, friendly staff especially and always willing to up grade and to do what they can to make your stay comfortable. I have always admired the decor and thought it witty and in good taste, maybe a tad dark but modern and in keeping with S.F. On my last visit I was so taken back at the re-do, it was really like one of those television re-make shows.... where you just paint over things and stick mirrors on the walls and put a vase of twigs on a shelf and call that decorating..who did it? what a disappointment...the aesthetic experience is ruined for me but will still go back because of the location and other amenities.

Good but there is better nearby
By crburk, 3/8/07
Definitely a W but it could have been better. A modern, dark, moody, and slightly cold atmosphere dominates. The room itself was fine but a bit worse for wear. The scuffed walls and small bathroom were disappointing. The hotel has a small lobby so was it noisy on nights when the lobby bar filled up. My girlfriend loved the Bliss spa and its message. Excellent hot tub. Excellent service. The staff members were universally helpful and pleasant. But the homeless folks asking for change were ubiquitous during any entry or exit; the doormen should be more assertive and protective of the guests. The hotel's location was a little distant from the hot spots. The south of Market location feels a slightly out-of-the-loop. I think a stay on Union Square or Nob Hill in the same price range would be better. If you like the W chain then you will probably like it here.

location was perfect
By travel qa, 2/25/07
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Can't wait to go back!
By bigbrain, 12/29/06
I stayed at the W four days in August 2006. From the moment I walked in the door, I was in love. The staff was absolutely wonderful! I can't say enough about them. They assisted me in any and all requests I had. It's true that my room was small, however, the items inside the room more than made up for the size. The king size bed was amazing and the linens were to die for. The view I had was breathtaking. The music in the room made me feel right at home. The spa, two bars, and overall decor of the place is what will keep me going back. My only complaint would be the food from room service. I would pass on ordering in and try some of the cafes and restaurants in the area. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
