Not really up to scratch

Stayed for one night at the start of July in the middle of some unusually good Belfast weather.
First impressions were of a beautifully decorated space, very gothic with lush carpeting. However, once we arrived at our room we found it to be almost unbearably hot. The window would only open an inch or two and every time the shower was used the radiator in the bathroom would become scaldingly hot, which turned the already hot room into a virtual sauna.
We asked reception for a fan which they duly oblidged, only three hours later and a tiny table fan which did nothing to cool the room down. When we complained about the hot radiator we were told that the only way to remedy it was to shut off the hot water on the entire floor, which of course was not an option.
We had a sleepless night because of the heat and were offered nothing by way of compensation in the morning when we checked out, despite the fact that we made it very clear that the situation was unacceptable.
Malmaison really needs to rethink the lack of air-conditioning as I would imagine that it does not bode well for guests staying during the warmer seasons, the thickness of the decor makes the hotel an oven on even slightly warm days and lack of staff willingness to help does nothing to further their reputation.
