Warning Shands Patients

Beware Shands Patients! If you have an early surgery procedure at Shands Medical Center, do not check into this place before 3 to secure your possessions or you will charged for 2 days. We arrived at 4:30 AM after driving all night, checked in, secured our possessions and then proceeded to our appointment at the surgery center at 7 AM. After the procedure, we returned to the room expecting to rest and then head back to Destin at 4 PM. Instead, we were awakend at noon by people literally beating on our door telling us we must vacate the room, after being there only 7 1/2 hours. We were told that anyone checking in before 3 PM is subject to a daily charge. Beware, this place obviously is set up to take advantage of people who are already dealing a lot of pain & stress.

I can't wait to go back!

My mom is in Shands and the staff was awesome. They'd ask me everyday how my mom was doing! The rooms were very clean and bright. The free breakfast in the morning was yummy. They cleaned my room and changed my sheets EVERYDAY! Everyone was so helpful with directions and food recommendtions. I recommend staying here because it's price was right and it was clean. My room was roomy and I had all the ammenities I needed in a very rough time in my life. Thans you all.

Personnel was wonderful. Rooms clean and pool area nicely kept. GREAT complimentary morning breakfast. We always stay here when visiting our daughter at UF. It is close and convenient to highways and campus. Pet friendly is a big plus.

Clean and Comfortable

Room was very clean, with fresh bed linens. Room was also very spacious and comfortable. Visited last year 2006 September for UF Black Alumni College Reunion, and just made reservations to stay at this hotel for the 2007 September reunion. Location is prime, near restaurants and shopping centers, and Cracker Barrel restaurant within walking distance.

they have discounted rates if your going to shands they have free transportion to shands the room was ok the bath tub needed work resurfaced or something its good for us to go for the night and go to shands and then go home a clean place to sleep

Comfortable beds

It was very nice and clean. The down and feather pillows and bed was very comfortable. Front desk was friendly too. I would stay there again.

poor service

Room dirty! No maid service - they walked out. Desk clerk gave us towels, sheets, etc. and told us we have to make our on room. Asked to see manager, but not available on weekends. He/She was to call me on Monday, never did. I called on Wed., Mgr. not available? Still didn't call me. Hotel policy is to give credit for any reason guest is unahppy, I asked for the credit. Desk clerk said they would take care it. It has been 4 months - no credit. Room charged to my credit 1 day after I left. Have been back to Gainsville 3 time since and I stay at a different Hotel. Will not use a Holiday Inn Express again because of this one. Too bad because I have stayed at good ones. I rate this one a 1 on a scale of 5

Gainesville Trip

The Baymont is a nice place to stay in the Gainesville's area and is right next to I 75 and Archer Rd The property is well kept and has a nice lobby and rooms. I was in town with 2 of my brothers and we were given a corner suite that accommendated 3 adults very nicley. Two double beds and a pull out sleeper. Rooms are large, clean, peacefull and well furnished. They even leave a few bottles of drinking water in your room after housekeeping has been in. That was a great touch. The breakfast is OK with the normal stuff like waffels and cereal. The pool area is small but nice and the gym was pretty basic. Overall a very good value and a nice staff.

If going to Shands.

I went to Gainesville to be examined at Shands Medical Center and the location of the hotel is only 3 miles from this hospital. Free morning breakfast was very convenient and if not in the mood for theirs, there is a Cracker Barrel on the ajacent lot. Very nice stay and I would use the hotel again.
