Messed up reservation

Arrived on a Friday around 8 o'clock and had reserved three nights through travelocity (via AAA). They informed me that they did not have a room for me the following night and recommended I try to book a room at the Motel 6 down the street. They blamed travelocity for not faxing them my information in time. They did have my name, but did not know the room rate I was originally charged or that I was staying on Sunday as well. Seems like I saw a similar review somewhere on this hotel, so I blame the hotel. Never coming back.

excellent budget hotel

This place defiantly exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean and comfortable, we had free internet, a refrigerator, free daily news paper and free breakfast, with Belgian waffles! I particularly liked the laminated hardwood floor because you can see if it's clean. I'm always a bit leery about staying in a budget hotel with carpet. I read the other reviews and did not experience any of the negative input. It looks like some of the hotel in not quite finished with the remodel, however this did not impact us in any way. We would defiantly stay here again.

Great hotel, and even better price!

I booked this hotel for my orientation at UC Davis and was very glad I did so. The hotel was a great one, with an amazing, great staff and excellent service. The room and hotel, all in all, was very clean and appealing. Although not all amenities stated were avaliable due to construction, it was a nice hotel. The location is great, minus the traffic noise from I-80. I enjoyed my stay because of the staff and because of the look and feel of the hotel as well as the amazing cost of the hotel. If I needed a place to stay in Davis, I would definitely look to Stone Villa as one of my top choices again.

Great Gym, Brrr--Cold Showers

The location was good, close to the soccer games. It had a nice little golf putting green by the pool and room for BBQ/picnic, but garbage was still overflowing the next day. The gym was great next door, but cold showers back at the hotel were not--water heaters couldn't keep up with guest showers. Maybe the hotel is not used to large groups. Service was polite. Housekeeping went out of their way to find us a couple extra pillows the first day. At least our room was clean and breakfast was available in a.m. Warm showers and trash cleanup would have made the stay nicer.

Cockroaches

I was also one of those parents who came for soccer weekend and brought my entire team. I had told my parents how great this place looked by the pictures online. Just like the review before mine the trash and filth was only topped by the COCKROACHES that infested the whole area, the room had them and the pool area at night we were trying to figure out what was running around our feet and it was the Roaches. The pool wasnt serviced and was cloudy it had no chlorine left after all of the kids went in no one serviced the pool. The manager gave some of the parents deals to get out of the hotel but others he was going to charge no matter what. I had ceiling falling down from the room, rusty plumbing fixtures. They kept the AAA rating sign up although they have no rating from them. In fact the sign still says Howard Johnsons on the entry to the reception. The manager wouldnt make this right for me after I told all me parents to come here. Stay away for your own safety.

Would never go back

Stayed for soccer tournament with rest of team. No hot water entire weekend. Very unorganized for expecting large group. Exposed sockets in the rooms. Bed not on frame, Just boxspring on floor. Garbage was not emptied from pool area or outside areas around facility. Maid service extremely slow. Would never go back. Next time we will try Motel 6 around the corner.

Pretty Good

The Hotel is under minor construction, it is located in a difficult location with a car lot close by, however there is an on going effort to improve the Hotel. The rooms are very clean, the staff is courteous, however the Hotel would not run very smooth without the manager Ken. All in all it is not too bad and good for the cost. I hope the Hotel owners appreciate the housekeepers and the staff; they are young but doing a pretty good job. I left my keys with everything I needed on them, the manager Ken took the time to FED X these back to me since I was more then 13 hours away once I returned home, again, thank you Ken.

Wonderfull!

WOW! This Howard Johnson has really improved! It has been remodeled; the outside is painted, the lobby is clean and elegant, the restroom is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious and clean with new beds and floors as well as furniture! Its a good deal! The front desk is eager to help and very profesional, complementary breakfast is more than I expected fruit, yogurt, waffles, & much more! I am definetly comming back to HOJO its close to the freeway, UCD, and Sacramento there are many restaurants nearby as well! A great place!

Will absolutely come back

The staff was very nice and eager to help with places to go and things to do in the area. The room was very large and roomy. The restaurant next door was also very tastey. I liked that it was quiet but we were still very close to downtown davis. We will be returning!

We will never go back or probably stay at a Howard Johnson's

The room was clean. The sheets and towels were poor quality. There is no jacuzzi located by the swimming pool as shown in the photo. We were told that we could use the jacuzzi in the health club for a $7 fee per person. Also, there is NO full complimentary HOT breakfast. Breakfast consisted of a packaged cinnamon roll, orange juice and coffee.
