Studio 6 - Salt Lake City/Fort Union, Salt Lake City

The location and actual buildings are very nice; but there are some glaring problems with this hotel.While the bedding and such is budget, it seems the management is really dropping the ball and it is a shame because this is a great property that I think will not turn a profit for the following reasons. First, there are dogs and fecal matter on the grounds, and in the planters.Dogs also wander the walk ways and bark; I like nicely behaved dogs, but was very turned off.Secondly, homeless people seem to be living there, smoking and leaving trash around.There were kid's bikes and a bbq outside rooms with non English speaking people. What a shame because this is a nice property and backs up to Wheeler's Historic Farm, an amazing gem along a river which you can walk to and would have been a hightlight had it not been for a real lowering of standards on the part of the hotel. My recommendation would be to put all longer term 'residents' and pet owners in one part of the hotel where they won't infringe on travelers hoping for a better experience.Kelly and Michelle, I think, are good at the front dest but the older Asian lady is not helpful and not an asset to Studio Six. Cigarette butts were everywhere around the trash area and the staff left them strewn about.

I just returned from a 9 day business trip and selected this property to reduce my personal business expenses for an extended trip. While the accomodations aren't top notch, they are very fair for the price. Room service is given only every few days; however, there is no problem getting extra towels, etc. Also, nice to have a stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, sink if you need/want to make your own meals. Personally, I'd prefer to spend my savings on quality meals and entertainment. I saved about 45% off the next best motel in town and quite frankly there wasn't much of a difference from the $75-90 dollar range motels---great value!
