Read if you think your plans may change
By ,
I strongly recommend you stay someplace other than the Hotel Emperador in Puerto Vallarta. When our flight was cancelled and we were unable to take our vacation, we promptly contacted the hotel's reservations manager, Adrian Flores, who assured us we would get our money back, less a 20% cancellation charge as stipulated in the contract. After being given the run around and told the money would be refunded back to our credit card, Adrian did an about face and said that we could not get our money back unless we provided a checking account number due to "transaction and currency exchange fees." Obviously, we opted not to do this since they've already shown a dishonest track record. We have since disputed the charge with the credit card company as the Hotel Emperador has unlawfully confiscated our money and refuses to provide the refund they promised us--and in accordance with the contract. Do not make the same mistake we did by giving this hotel any business and providing them your credit card number...if your plans are changed due to the mistakes of the airlines or any other reason, it is unlikely you'll ever see your money again.

Very Budget Place to Stay
By ,
The old saying, "You Get What You Pay For". This hotel is in an excellent location if your staying in old town. It is right on the beach and has palapas free of charge where you can bring your own beer and soak up the sun. The staff were really good and the room was fairly clean. The room itself was about as big as my bathroom at home. Very basic and not very secure. If anyone wanted to get into the room, they would only have to slide the window open. We were worried, but did not have a problem. We would without question pay the extra money for a larger room if we go back. Also, the vendors selling their items on the beach are relentless, its a steady stream from morning to night - Get ready to say no gracias a lot. We moved over the the Playa Del Sol after the thrid night and it was a huge room looking over the ocean, no security question either. Bottom Line, spend a few extra dollars and get a real room. The locals were very honest people and it was a pleasure to spend time with them. We did the fiesta pary in old town and that was fun. We paid 95 pesos for two of us. We also did Rythems of the Night boat trip. The boat trip was fun, but the dinner and show on the island was lacking and not worth doing. Have Fun!!

Room With A View: Not?
By ,
Classic bait and switch! In July 2006 booked an ocean view suite with balcony and king bed for the week of 12/28/06-1/04/07 wTravelocity. Confirmed reservation was not available and neither hotel nor travelocity rep. could do anything since it was the holidays and all area hotels were booked solid. So we spent a week in Room 1205 in a second building behind the main hotel on the third floor above a noisy, busy street, on a barely double bed, with no balcony and a view of a 6-story building across the street. The hotel manager also refused to reduce the room charge below the ocean-view price we booked at 5-months earlier claiming that the room we had was that price during the holidays. The advertised pool was a block away, no food charges to room, had to call for clean towels each day, surley staff (and we speak Spanish). Location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. Definitely avoid this place!

stay away from room 107, the \"private pool\" is 2 blocks away and not very private, the staff did not speak english very well
By ,
room 107 had a horribly molded shower. the smell made being in the room unbeareable. as long as you are not in this room i think you would probably have a lovely stay.

The BEST PLACE TO STAY FOR THE RIGHT PRICE
By ,
I loved Hotel Suites Emperador. It was the best Hotel I've stayed at so far! The price was great and since I went in May I got an extra night for Free! I spent less than $300 for 5 days in beautiful Puerto Vallarta staying at Emperador. The view from my room was perfect and the weather to match! Stayed on the four floor Room #302 and had a wonderful view of the beach with two perfect palm trees. Nothing beats falling to sleep to the sounds of the ocean waves breaking right under your balcony. I got a Jr. Suite and was suppose to get 1 king bed and 2 couches but instead got a king bed, plus a full size bed, plus a couch!! Yes the kitchen is outside on the balcony but that's the atmosphere you get when you stay at a beach hotel! Of course if your looking for a 5 star hotel with all exclusive stuff included this is not the hotel for you. But if youre like most visitors to this town, you probably just want to absorb the rich Mexican atmosphere and enjoy the city/town locals, this is the spot! It is next to a tiny boat port where you can pay $6 taxi and go to Yelpa or pay the boaters by the hour and go anywhere up the coast! You can also walk 5 mins to the Malecon, where everything is (the clubs, bars, restaurants etc)! I have no complaints about this place and I look forward to going back. There was no bad smell in the bath room, the room size was huge, the view was great, the restaurants around the hotel were great, the location was great and of course lets not forget the local workers who were very nice to me and accommodated anything I needed. I tip my hat to everyone there and I look forward to seeing them again!!

Loved It
By ,
We loved the price, excellent location, sweet and helpful staff, beds were comfortable (pillows were not but we travel with our own pillows). Showers were plenty HOT and lots of water pressure, nothing stolen, lots of television channels with English stations, situated really close to restaurants that range from moderately priced to expensive. We definitely recommend it.
