Avalon Baccara Cancun, Zona Hotelera

We love the Baccara. It is a great boutique hotel -quiet -but has everything you'll need. It is housed in what was once a private mansion -so it has tons of quirky details like unexpected and unusually shaped hallways and windows. The first time we went with our children. We had been there for four nights during spring break. The hotel is ideal. A smooth white sand beach separates the beautiful pool from the blue and green Carribean Sea. There is a life guard, so you feel comfortable leaving your towels, etc on the lounges -or one of the "beach beds" made up with sheets and completely comfortable. Every staff member seems focused on making sure that you're having a great time -especially the manager, Sr. Meza. We were so impressed with the service and hotel (we really had no idea what to expect -and had low expectations... it was meant to be a stop-over) that we decided to return a month later without the kids! This time we were even more delighted. The rooms were fantastic. With the kids we stayed in a 2 br. suite (2 baths, a kitchen, etc. terrace overlooking the beach and pool) Without the kids we stayed in a 1br suite -with terraces overlooking the bay and the sea. jacuzzis in both room. it was truly beautiful. Great spa treatments too -at "sister" hotel Avalon Grand 100 yards away. We're tempted to keep this a secret, but, we feel that the hotel should benefit! The only improvements we would recommend would be establishing wireless (or, any) internet for guest use -and maybe better tv choices. Otherwise, it is perfect. Enjoy your trip!

My boyfriend and I were visitors at the Avalon Baccara from October 16, 2005 until we were evacuated to a shelter inland due to Hurricane Wilma on October 20, 2005. Our vacation at this hotel was amazing. We were extremely satisfied with the service we received and with the hotel itself. Cleanliness, service, value, location, were all EXCELLENT. The romantic atmosphere was just what we needed. We will definitely return to Cancun and will only stay at the Avalon Baccara. During this eventful week, we definitely felt as though we were their top priority. Thanks for making the Hurricanse as smooth as possible. Jesus, Julio, and Lupita.....you are the best. We miss you! The Avalon Baccara is a small unique hotel-which is perfect if you are looking to get away from the crowds. I fell in love with it the moment I walked into the lobby (my son loved the pool table). We vacationed there in March during spring break. It seemed liked we were the only ones at the hotel. It was nice and quiet, but only a few blocks away from all the action! We had the pool and the beach to ourselves. We stayed in room 101. It had two bedrooms, living room with sofa bed, cute little kitchen with a dining area, two bathrooms, and a jacuzzi on the spacious terrace overlooking the ocean. There were sliding glass doors leading to the terrace from the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. The bathrooms and kitchen were colorfully tiled. The master bathroom had a gigantic mirror that looked like an arched doorway with plenty of shelves and rods for our clothes. The rooms are large and tastefully decorated. The hotel is a little "worn", but not rundown. It is the relaxing, casual type, not really "luxurious". The food was good. We only ate at one of the restaurants there, the Bistro. It is great for breakfast-and cheap! Or, call down and have it brought up to your room. The staff is very friendly. The first night we had no hot water, but they promptly took care of the situation (the broiler was turned off). Everything else was great! I can't wait to go back to Cancun! I really liked this hotel and plan to visit again!
