Gas shortage!
By Mothership, 09/25/08
The hotel is clean, but it obviously has seen better days. Good location near the Blue Ridge Parkway and stores. The staff was friendlly, but no one bothered to inform us that there was a gas shortage in Asheville --- not when we made the reservation nor when we checked in. We honestly thought we were going to be stranded. Luckily we found a station that sold us $25 in gas so that we could get out of there. Will not return to this hotel or any other Holiday Inn.

I usually don't like Holiday Inn's but hmmm...budget time!! So I come across this hotel and it looks nice and I read the reviews and for the most part, they are positive..so I book it. I was incredibly surprised..it was clean, the staff was polite and helpful, it was in a great location..What more can I say...I was pleased..we were pleased and would definitely stay again!

Unbelievable - I had to check the sign again
By Larry B, 08/28/08
Upon making the reservation for this place my wife asked me what was I thinking! Well I explained about the great reviews I heard about this place and we took the gamble figuring that the worst that could happen is an early check-out. Boy were we surprised!!! This place is Asheville's best buy! We opted for the suite room with a jet tub! Yes, did I say this WAS a Holday Inn. The Hotel's pictures on the site didn't do it justice! A beautiful fireplace in the lobby - always a warm cup of coffee and fresh baked cookies - a real bacon, sausage, eggs and omlette breakfast with fresh from the oven cinnimon rolls, and a great roomy room, with a small but adequate terrace (which my wife used as her sneak a ciggarette spot! Did I say this was a Holiday Inn? Well the fully equipt excersize room with a shelf of fresh towels, a large spa, and a full pool area really topped it off! I can't still believe that Holiday Inn was able to change my mind about traveling again. When I was a kid, my parents would use a HI as the standard bearer for "on the road hotels" but this (what they call EXPRESS hotel, made me want to write one of these reviews, just to give kudo's to the management and staff who changed my mind about the chain! If you want a clean, classic hotel with a complete vacation experience in the great city of Asheville all at a great price - don't hesitate to make a reservation here! But leave me a week in August '09 where I can still make a reservation!

I was extremely surprised!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/08
I typically don't like to stay at Holiday Inn's as the majority of the ones that I've stayed at have been dirty, noisy, have horrible service and have been just plain unpleasant. I usually pay more to stay at at a 4 star hotel as I get pretty "grossed out" by some of the lower-rate hotels. This hotel, however, took me by surprise. I was traveling from Indianapolis to S. Carolina on vacation with my wife, 7-year old and 2-year old and was not looking forward to the experience. The room was spotless, bathroom was extremely clean; high speed Internet was easy to gain access to and the beds were comfortable (but a bit too soft for my taste). Breakfast area was a bit crowded as everyone was trying to get out in the morning and back out on the road, but the food wasn't too bad and we were out an back on the highway very quickly. We will return to this hotel when we go back to S. Carolina next year. Just need a clean, quite, comfortable place to stay and this does teh trick.

Great stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
Had read many reviews about this location and was hesitant before going. We had a king suite and couldn't have asked for anything nicer within this price line. The room and hotel was very clean. Our room was beside a side street and was thinking we would encounter noise at night, but found none. In fact, it was too quiet so much that I had trouble falling to sleep. Once I turned the fan on for noise, I fell asleep in just a few minutes. Would highly recommend this location for your stay.

Reasonable for price
By amareshn, 08/11/07
Clean room, quiet surroundings, fair breakfast. Staff was polite, helpful. Furnishings were average, but a reasonable place to stay for the price. owuld recommend it for the price but the breakfast is much better at other facilities e.g. Hampton Hotels.

Renovation in Progress, But Still Nice
By JasonW, 05/12/07
My family and I checked into the Holiday Inn Express in Asheville after having some difficulty finding affordable, yet nice lodging in the area. The hotel is nearing the end of a long rennovation and it is evident. The parts of the hotel where the rennovation are complete look nice, but the look of plastic on the floor and walls detracted a bit from the decor. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful, recommending the nearby Harbor Inn restaurant(which had excellent seafood). The hotel is located near the Biltmore Square Mall and is within easy driving distance of most of the Asheville attractions. If you can overlook the construction, this is a nice place to stay for a night.

This hotel is an exceptional quality. Great staff, excellent continental breakfast and very comfortable, clean rooms. A great place to stay! Also -- close to Biltmore without the higher prices.

we loved staying here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/21/05
My wife, grandaughter and I were on a southern vacation and Asheville was one of out stops. We loved everything about this hotel. If I were rich and builting a house it would be look like this but smaller. its location is excellent and the blue ridge parkway drive is just a few minutes drive away.can't wait to go back. Also the Biltmore House is close by.
