Our "go to" hotel in Boston!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/09
We have stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth three times- the first time was a few years ago when we were touring Boston campuses with our son and most recently for my 50th birthday. We stayed there initially because the location was so convenient to everything (Newbury Street, Kenmore Station, Fenway Park, etc.) but have returned because of the exemplary service, exquisite rooms and decor and wonderful restaurants. The hotel never fails to put a smile on our faces. How can you be unhappy when your room overlooks Fenway?!

Beautiful hotel but $400 a night???
By ED, 09/25/08
I know Boston is an expensive city, and we looked into many different hotel options before settling on The Hotel Commonwealth because of its proximity to Fenway and downtown. From the moment you step foot out of the taxi and the wonderful doorman greets you, you will feel like royalty. The staff was incredibly nice and very helpful with directions and suggestions on where to eat and shop. We picked a Fenway view room and was not disappointed. The rooms are very nice size, and the view was pretty nice- looking directly out into Fenway Park. The temperature control was a little touchy in the room which made it either very cold or very hot. The shower heads were too strong, but that is about the only complaints about the room. Very comfy bed and nice LCD High Def TV. The city of Boston is so beautiful and if you come to the town, staying on Commonwealth Avenue gives you an amazing look at the city. The historical brownstones and the serene park in the median mix the old with the new and give this town such an awesome feel. It is approx. 25 min walk to "Downtown" which I will use at the western part of the Boston Gardens. The Freedom Trail begins about 1/4 mile from here and you will definately need your tennis shoes. Definately take the cookie at the turndown service. Amazing. Overall, probably one of the most amazing if not THE most amazing, elegant hotel I have stayed in, but is it worth the price of approx. $400 a night? When you consider that a Best Western is $240, then maybe it is. 5 minute walk from Fenway Park and Yawkey Way/Landsdown Street. Great bars there. Do NOT eat at Uno Pizzaria, but rather take in Bertucci's (much better pie). There is also a 7-11 right next door for your snacks and toiletries if you forget them.

Wonderful Boston Hotel!
By Oofis, 06/14/08
We have just returned from 10 days in Boston staying at the Hotel Commonwealth - a hotel chosen primarily on the popularity index of Trip Advisor. Without any doubt, the hotel lived up to its reputation and we would have no hesitation of staying here again and recommending it to others. The staff were a delight - friendly and very customer service orientated and not hovering and hankering after tips as we have found elsewhere. Our room (Commonwealth variety) was spacious and exceptionally clean. While we didn't use room service, there is a nightly turndown when artisan water and cookies are delivered which is a nice touch. The food is excellent 9Eastern Standard Restaurant) and again the service we experienced was superb. Raw bar, steaks and other specialities are to be recommended. Exiting the hotel, Fenway Park is right there, and Newbury Street is only a five minute walk away and provides numerous shops and restaurants. The walk into Boston to the Common for instance is twenty minutes duration making a pleasant stroll.

skip it - stay at any Copley Sq hotel instead
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/08
the location is ideal for baseball games, but the hotel is wildly overrated. it is especially overpriced for its quality. it is disastrously unattractive from the outside and awkwardly constructed on the inside. the lobby is dark & withdrawn from the street and the rooms feel like they are overdone and overly busy. moreover, the Kenmore Square area is unattractive and uninteresting, except for Fenway Park. for the money, though, you'd be better off staying in the exciting Copley Square area and taking a cab to Fenway.

location was perfect
By travel qa, 10/26/07
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

A Fabulous Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/05
The Hotel Commonwealth has the most amazing beds I have ever experienced at a hotel - I had to tear myself out of bed for my business meeting! The hotel is tastfully elegant and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. A little pricey for private travel, but if you're on a corporate account, I highly recommend it.
